Up in Coming Movies

Well we all know that summer time means generally some big blockbuster movies coming out. So what movies do you guys wanna see? What do you think's gonna be good? Think somethings gonna be bad? Anything coming out after the summer season that your hoping to see? Talk about it here.

I'll start things off with a movie coming out next month. The new Transformers movie. Dark of the Moon. Now this is something of a mixed bag here I think. On one hand I didn't completely hate the other two movies. Both had good effects and some good action but at the same time both felt a little lacking specially 2. I hated the twin robots in the second movie. So this one. The plot sounds kind of neat and the action looks to be good and there's even a mitigating factor here which might make it more watchable. Spielberg! Now I'm not sure if I will go see it. Depends if I have the money and how much I really wanna see it. If I do go and see it though I'll be sure to pop back in on this thread or make a new one with a review of the movie. ^^

Interesting topic.

Me I still haven't seen X-men first class, waiting for DVD or netflix release as I really don't particularly enjoy going to see movies in theatres. I've liked at least 2/4 previous x-men movies, and tollerated the other 2, but hope this one is as good or better than II (my favourite).

As for other movies...

Transformers: I am really not that excited here... sorry to be a bit of a damper but I rather despised the last two. I mean I liked the action scenes the the bits actually dealing with the transformers themselves and their war was really quite cool. I could have even tollerated the blatant army promoting bits if that was all that was in there. But no... A spectacularly bad actor (Labouf... or however you spell that waste of a human body's name) and his marry band of the most annoying and pointless people on this earth had to hog about 70+ percent of the screen time.

Green Lantern: I won't pretend to be an expert on this particular comic franchise but I know my share as a dedicated comic hero geek. I'm not that excited here either really as they chose to go with the Hal Jordan character over that of the old justice league series (at least that's what it looks like) and just about every interpretation of him has him as, pardon my French but a whiney *****. I mean damn man, a ring of untold power litterally falls out of the sky onto your ass and all you can do is complain that you, the intergalactic equivilant of a caveman are not treated with equal esteem to others?

One movie I am truly excited for is the Avengers movie, I mean Marvel is trying something noone has ever done before, lining up about 4 movies to all fall into place to let this one work in context. Thus far most if not all the characters shown have worked out pretty well, if nothing else they got the perfect Tony Stark.

Well I thought I'd give this thread a bump and list some more up in coming movies.

Coming out at about the end of September. Real Steel. Where do I begin? Ok. So we have what is essentially a full scale version of that Rock Em Sock Em Robots toy? You guys know. Each kid gets a side with a bot and presses the buttons over and over making their bot punch until the other one's head pops up. Least that's the vibe I'm getting here. This seems like one of those movies that request you check your brain at the door. I mean for one the Bot is copying his moves. As he does them. It looks like he's actually controlling it. But is that standard for these things? If they're supposed to be fighting autonomously then isn't that sort of cheating?

Coming out in October. The Thing. I've seen both the original and the 80's remake. I liked both. The original is kinda cool in it's own classic way and I think remains a good movie. The 80's remake once again has a very good plot which it seems is what this new film is going with. Oh and might I mention the 80's remake is quite graphic and gorey. If your squeamish then the two remakes might not be the best movies for your. Anyway here's the basic plot. A research team isolated in the Artic circle discovers a crashed alien ship frozen under ice. Not far from it they find frozen closer to the surface an alien itself. In the original the creature was a pretty man like thing which was actually more like a plant then an animal. In the 80's remake the creature was this sort of symbiont. Or Parasite depending on how you look at it. It inhabits a person and controls them and has complete ability to manipulate their body in any way it chooses producing a wide array of freaky things. Isolated the Scientist and researchers in both films must kill the creature before it can spread to the wider world beyond. I wonder what the remake is going to be like. I can see they've gotten some good actors for it but I can't help but wonder if this will be too close to the 80's remake to really be much different. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well those are the two I can think of off the top of my head. So any of you guys excited about a new movie coming out? Any comments on the two movies I mentioned?
