i did one summer camp during my school years...never again

i was a scout at the time so i ran rings round everyone there... most whom had never seen a tree never mind a forest up in scotland... that included the late teenagers who were supposed to keep an eye on everyone (but decided to try and breed like rabbits). there just wasn't any challenge to the entire month i was away. lighting fires? i could light a fire and have a deer roasting within 5 minutes while the others were still getting over the concept of matches (i used a lighter... so sue me)

it didnt help that most of the kids there were only at the camp because their parents wanted to go on holiday without them

it sounds cool but i guess *camp* will always be somewhere parents drop off their kids for a few weeks to me

I think that a few people here might have a misconception as to what this camp really is. It's not a place to live out their "fantasy" it's more like a con except in a different type of location (aka. the woods). Also, there may be a lot of physically demanding activities like a rope course or wall climbing (which isn't that bad), but you don't have to participate in those activities so you can go even if you are lazy x3. And also it isn't a place for parents to drop their kids off since most of the people there are 20-40 and are living on their own. Also, I have never been, but based on what I have heard (and I have talked to people who have been, and read the comments on forums) People that go learn the kind of skills that you would as a scout.

I mean, if it wasnt for my MD I would love to go. Yeah, I know you don't have to participate in the more demanding tasks, but I still would feel out of place. On the other hand, being out in a national park is quite a fabulous idea and sure peats going to a smoggy city convention thats all crowded. Actually...I think I would love to go jsut to be there ^^ and sit back and relax, take a break from city grind Razz I have lived alot of my life far from cities, so its kinda natural for me.
And Kiru...I am curious to what 'fantasies' you were thinking of, cause they can't quite be weirder than the fantasies us on Fur Den have, hehehe.
