Cons are great. It's the only time I feel like there are other people like me in the world.

| I will love to go to a con, but there is a problem going to the midwest convention. It is call money for gas. Because of gas going sky high, I will not go anywhere. | |

| I actually find accents are really interesting and there are times when they are really funny.
I had a British friend who's father was talking to his neighbor. The neighbor had a son going to a high class art school in Europe, so my friend's father said "Ah yes, I always thought you son was a bit of an artsy." Now try saying that with a British accent, and let me know what you get and I'll let you know what the neighbor thought he heard the first time.
As for going to cons, I get the feeling furry cons are nowhere near as strange/interesting as anime cons. When you have like a whole bunch of guys dressed as Sailor Moon or Sailor Mini Moon, and doing the pose thing, even on pictures, it's interesting.
What do you do at Cons? I know there are lots of artists, there are usually some activities planned by the people there, what else?

| Well... mostly you just meet people. I've been to all of one con, but I can tell you the highlight was having lunch and drinks with a group of furs at a restaurant near the hotel. I also checked out the dealer's hall, played furry Pictionary and sat in on two seminars on how to build a fursuit conducted by some professional fursuit makers. Most of the weekend was spent just hanging around with a large number of furs, though. It's basically about being with people like yourself. | |

| Sounds very nice. Although I must admit, I probably wouldn't fit in very well. My "furriness" is limited to an obsession (well, a strong interest) with foxes, very much liking furry art, so some wouldn't even consider that furry as much as "some one who likes art involving humanoid animals with a preference for a specific species." I'm a very marginal fur Still, I'd love to go to one of those. Question though. I heard that many furry conventions have a strict "furry only" policy where they want to avoid the media and other people. So, how do they know if you're a fur or not? | |

| They don't. But if they post a no media policy in the con rules and someone disobeys it they're left open to recourse. There was actually a documentary film being shot at RMFC this year but the crew was being escorted around by the con's PR guy. They had to get a release from anyone who was going to be on tape. | |
