Chapter 1
“Hey! Are you guys okay?”
“What?” Nathaniel asked groggily as he woke up.
Nathaniel sat up and found himself in a forest of some kind. He looked around for whoever spoke to him and looked into the staring eyes of a Cyndaquil.
“Whoa!” Nathaniel yelped as he leaped backwards.
“OUCH!” someone beneath Nathaniel yelped.
“Sorry Anthony!” Nathaniel said as he got off of the Eevee.
“What a wakeup call.” Anthony said shaking himself. “Where are we and how did we get here?”
“I don’t know.” Nathaniel said.
“You’re near Pokémon Square.” The Cyndaquil said. “Are you guys okay? You seem a little weird.”
“I’m not sure if I really am okay.” Nathaniel said. “I can’t remember a thing now that I try. I can only remember my own name and Anthony’s. And the fact that I’m a furr.”
“What’s a furr?” Cyndaquil asked. “Is that some kind of special Riolu or something?”
Nathaniel looked at himself and saw he was indeed a Riolu. He was so surprised that he wet himself.
“Okay that’s something else I remember.” Nathaniel said. “A furr is a sort of cross between a human and an animal. I now remember that I was incontinent when I was a furr so it stands to reason I would be now.”
“I remember that too.” Anthony said. “I just don’t remember anything else.”
“You guys are kind of weird but you look like you could use some help.” The Cyndaquil said. “How about we start with names. I know the Eevee is Anthony, what’s yours Riolu?”
“My name is Nathaniel.” He answered reaching to shake Cyndaquil’s hand.
“Pleasure!” He said shaking Nathaniel’s hand. “Just call me Cyndaquil.”
“Okay!” Nathaniel said.
“Uh-oh!” Anthony said.
“What?” Nathaniel and Cyndaquil asked. They looked and saw a small puddle spreading beneath Anthony.
“I remember I wore diapers too.” Anthony said.
“OH!” Cyndaquil said. “You guys need diapers. Wait here for a bit and I’ll come back with some. Just do me one favor. If anyone talks to you, don’t mention anything weird like being human or whatever.”
“Okay.” Nathaniel said.
Cyndaquil ran off and Nathaniel smiled.
“What are you so happy about?” Anthony asked. “We’re stuck who knows where without any memory of where we came from in the first place.”
“At least we’re not lost.” Nathaniel said. “We can’t be lost if we don’t know where we were lost from or where we were even going in the first place. I’m happy because at least something is going our way.”
“What’s going our way?” Anthony asked.
“We’ve made a friend.”

| Chapter 2
Cyndaquil came back a few minutes later with a couple diapers.
“Do you guys want any help or would you rather do it yourself?” he asked.
“Do you really want to?” Nathaniel asked.
“Kind of.” Cyndaquil answered. “I used to baby sit a bit and always liked helping any of the pokemon who were wearing diapers. But I don’t want to if you’ll feel awkward being changed by a total stranger.”
“I already consider you a friend Cyndaquil so be my guest.” Nathaniel said laying down.
Cyndaquil smiled and walked over to Nathaniel. He threaded Nathaniel’s bushy blue tail through the hole and then tapped the diaper up. Nathaniel was impressed. Cyndaquil was good at this. Anthony sighed and let Cyndaquil diaper him as well. Just as Cyndaquil finished a Butterfree came into the clearing screaming about a hurt Caterpie. That was all Nathaniel could make out, as she was pretty incoherent otherwise.
“Let’s go check it out Anthony.” Nathaniel said.
“I’m coming too.” Cyndaquil said.
“Come if you like but let’s go.” Anthony said.
They ran until Cyndaquil stopped them in front of a hole.
“Okay. I got from Butterfree something about her Caterpie falling down a hole in this area.” He said. “If Caterpie fell down this hole then it may be in a bit of trouble. This hole here leads to a mystery dungeon called Tiny Woods.”
“We’d better help it then.” Nathaniel said before leaping into the hole.
“Better make sure he doesn’t get himself hurt.” Anthony said before leaping after Nathaniel with Cyndaquil.
They found Nathaniel in a wrestling match with a Pidgey. Cyndaquil ran forward and tackled the bird pokemon. It disappeared for some reason and Cyndaquil helped Nathaniel up.
“Be careful!” he said. “The pokemon in mystery dungeons are very aggressive. They’ll attack you first and ask questions never.”
They continued through the dungeon and fought a few other pokemon along the way. It wasn’t until Nathaniel saw another of those annoying Pidgey coming that he unleashed his first pokemon attack. It was one that shocked Anthony and Cyndaquil greatly. Nathaniel used Aura Sphere and KO’ed the Pidgey.
“I didn’t think Riolu could use Aura Sphere!” Cyndaquil said.
“There are rare ones that can.” Anthony said. “And Nathaniel certainly is a rare one.”
They continued further into the mystery dungeon until they saw something up ahead. It looked like Caterpie. Nathaniel hoped he was just unconscious since he wasn’t moving.
“Caterpie! Are you okay?” Nathaniel asked.
“Huh, what?” Caterpie asked as he quickly rolled over and stood up. “Who are you guys?”
“I’m Nathaniel.” Nathaniel answered. “This is Anthony and Cyndaquil. A Butterfree came screaming about how her little Caterpie was stuck in a hole and hurt. We came…”
“To save me.” Caterpie sighed. “I really wish she’d stop doing that. I came down here on my own to train myself to be stronger. I want to be the strongest entrant into the Rescue Teams ever. I’m trying to beat the record of level 35 on entry and placing it at a point that will be hard to beat for years to come.”
“So what level are you at anyway?” Nathaniel asked.
“Level 50 if you must know.”
“Whoa!” the trio said in unison.
“That’s not the only amazing thing.” Caterpie said. “I’ve been able to learn attacks no other Caterpie has been able to. I know Bug Bite like other Caterpie can learn sure, but I also know Mega Horn! In addition to that, I know how to use Fire Blast as well.”
“So how is the Butterfree related to you?” Nathaniel asked. “She’s pretty worried and I wonder why if you’re so strong.”
“She’s my nanny.” Caterpie said quietly. “She’s such a worry wart. I’ll come with you guys to make sure she doesn’t pass out like the last time I came into Tiny Woods.”
When they reached the Butterfree it swooped down on Caterpie and squeezed him tightly.
“Careful or you’ll make his eyes bug out of his head.” Nathaniel said.
The two bug pokemon stared at him.
“Sorry!” Nathaniel said. “Pun not intended.”
“Thank you so much for saving my little love bug.” The Butterfree said.
Nathaniel wondered just how green Caterpie could turn as he started to look like he was going to be violently ill at being called love bug.
“Please. Take these.” Butterfree said giving the trio a berry each. “It’s not much but it’s all I can give you for your help.”
Nathaniel thanked the Butterfree and the two bug pokemon left.
“That was so cool.” Cyndaquil said.
“All I could think was poor Caterpie.” Anthony said.
“Well yeah but that still felt like a rescue mission.” Cyndaquil said. “And the three of us made a pretty good team there. Come with me guys.”
They followed Cyndaquil to a village. Cyndaquil led them to the outskirts to a small, slightly run down hut.
“What do you think of my home?” Cyndaquil asked.
“Looks cozy.” Nathaniel answered truthfully.
“It’s not much but it’s home.” Cyndaquil said. “You can stay here if you like. There’s more than enough room.”
“Thank you very much Cyndaquil.” Nathaniel said putting an arm around him.
“I have extra diapers in here for you as well.” Cyndaquil said. “I dropped them off on my way out of town. Are you guys hungry?”
All three stomachs growled in answer. This provoked a group laughter and they walked inside. Cyndaquil went to a hay pile and set out some for a bed.
“Would you guys mind sharing a bed?” Cyndaquil asked. “Hay has been just a little pricy lately so it would save some if the three of us just used one bed. It would save even more if we … um …”
“Snuggled, cuddled, something of the nature.” Anthony offered helpfully.
“Yeah.” Cyndaquil said.
“No problem.” Nathaniel said. “Now how about dinner?”
Cyndaquil walked over to a corner of the room and got out three apples. He gave one to Anthony and another to Nathaniel and they chowed down. Nathaniel felt surprisingly full afterward and sighed contentedly.
“I’ve been wanting to ask you guys something.” Cyndaquil said.
“Ask away then.” Nathaniel said.
“We promise to respond even if we don’t answer.” Anthony said.
“I was wondering, after what we did today, would you consider forming a rescue team with me?” Cyndaquil asked timidly.
“It felt good helping someone today.” Nathaniel said. “I say we go for it while Anthony and I try to recover our memories.”
“I agree.” Anthony said. “Let’s go for it.”
“Thank you.” Cyndaquil said. He walked over to where he got the apples from and pulled out a sheet of paper. “This is the application form. We just have to sign ourselves as the team leaders, and then come up with a name. What should it be?”
“Team Libra?” Nathaniel offered.
“Team Libra.” Cyndaquil said contemplatively. “I like it. What about you Anthony?”
“May as well make it unanimous.” Anthony said. “I like it anyway.”
“Okay then, Team Libra it is.” Cyndaquil said marking the name down on the sheet. “I’ll go hand this in at the post office and be right back.”
Cyndaquil left the hut and Nathaniel smiled. Things were certainly odd, but he couldn’t say things were going wrong. He had a new friend in Cyndaquil, a purpose in life to help other pokemon, and a goal of recovering his memory to keep him going. Thinking about the day’s events made him tired and he gave a large yawn. The yawn was contagious and Anthony joined in. They both smiled at each other and curled up together on the hay. They were asleep before Cyndaquil got back and he smiled when he saw them. He got into the hay with them and smiled as they curled right along with him without waking up and Cyndaquil too fell asleep.
Chapter 3
Cyndaquil woke with a yawn. He looked at his new friends and smiled at how cute they were sleeping in their diapers. Speaking of which, it looked like he would be changing them when they woke up. He carefully extricated himself from them so as not to wake them and walked outside with a glance at the diapers in the corner.
When he got outside he heard an unfamiliar noise. It was a sort of flap flap, and then he saw Pelipper land on his mail box.
“OH!” Pelipper said. “Glad someone is out here. I’ve got a package for you.”
Cyndaquil thanked Pelipper when he gave him the package and looked excitedly at it. Pelipper flew off and then Cyndaquil set the package inside before grabbing a few poke and running to the market for a few apples for breakfast. When he got back home he saw Anthony and Nathaniel just starting to wake up.
“Good morning guys.” Cyndaquil said. “We got a package this morning that I think you’ll wake to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for so let’s have breakfast before we open it. Do you guys want me to change you?”
“Sure Cyndaquil.” Nathaniel said. “I’m still a little sleepy and might not put it on right. It’s usually better when someone else does it anyway.”
Nathaniel laid down and let Cyndaquil clean him up and diaper him. Anthony sighed and let Cyndaquil diaper him as well. Nathaniel noticed a strange look in Cyndaquil’s eyes but it was gone too fast for him to be really sure he saw it. Cyndaquil handed them both an apple and they munched on them before Cyndaquil brought out the package. Cyndaquil unwrapped it and they saw their kit for their rescue team. A letter officially proclaimed them a rescue team and there was a tool box as well. There was also a badge inside along with a few items. Nathaniel took a look at the items and Cyndaquil explained what they were.
“Those are some pretty useful held items. This one here is a Lum Band. It will prevent the wearer from suffering from status effects. These glasses are Luminous Specs. They’ll allow the wearer to see the floor’s layout, plus where the stairs are. This last item is the ever useful X-Ray Specs. They’ll allow the wearer to see where client and aggressive Pokémon are, plus where there are items on the floor.”
“NICE!” Nathaniel said excitedly. “Can I choose my item first?”
“Go ahead.” Cyndaquil and Anthony said each pointedly looking at the Specs.
“Don’t worry guys.” Nathaniel said. “I want the band anyway.”
Nathaniel picked up the white band and tied it around his forehead. He then picked up the rescue badge and pinned it to the front of the band. Nathaniel looked in a small mirror that Cyndaquil had and had to smile at how he looked. He looked like a small ninja in a diaper. Nathaniel took another look at the specs and saw they were actually in contact form. Anthony and Cyndaquil put them in and blinked a few times.
“Can’t even tell that they are there!” Anthony said. “How come I can’t see anything more?”
“We’re not in a mystery dungeon.” Cyndaquil said. “That’s the only time you can see it. The rescue team badge gives us a handy ability. We can focus and see where we’ve explored on the floor and where our teammates are. Plus we see where enemies are if they are close to ourselves or teammates or in the same room. It’s the same thing for items and clients. Since I’m wearing the Luminous Specs, we see a shady outline of the floor layout and a blue square where the stairs are. Anthony is wearing the X-Ray Specs so we see red dots for aggressive Pokémon, blue dots for items, and yellow dots for teammates and clients. The little white dot you see is yourself.”
“That’s cool.” Nathaniel said. “So when do we leave on a rescue mission?”
“We don’t have any rescue requests yet so I thought I’d show you around today.” Cyndaquil said. “Maybe we could go to Tiny Woods later just to level up. Let’s put our Oran Berries that we got from Butterfree in the toolbox.”
The team did and then walked outside. Cyndaquil showed them that there were three paths to take.
“The path to the left of our home, now our base, leads to peaceful lands and friend areas. The path to the south leads to the wild lands. That’s where you would find all of the dangerous Mystery dungeons. The two lands seem to overlap. It’s as if you go down one path to one dimension and down the other path to another one.”
“Why would anyone go down the south path then?” Anthony asked. “If it’s so much safer to be in the peaceful lands, why bother going into the wild lands?”
“The peaceful lands are becoming less peaceful.” Cyndaquil answered quietly. “For some reason, natural disasters are becoming much more common in the peaceful lands. It’s now a toss up which place is more dangerous. Plus, sometimes a Pokémon will be walking along in the peaceful lands and find themselves suddenly in the wild lands. Often times they find themselves in Mystery Dungeons. We of the rescue teams go to help those Pokémon in the wild lands who are either trying to make a living there and get into trouble, or those who find themselves in trouble from being pulled into the wild lands from the peaceful lands.”
“Wow.” Nathaniel whispered. “That’s harsh. We’ll just have to do our best to help them then.”
“That’s right!” Cyndaquil said. “Lastly is the path to the right of our base. It leads into Pokémon Square. We’ll be taking our tour there today.”
Cyndaquil led them down that path and showed them around. Nathaniel swore this seemed familiar somehow. It was like it was from some video game or hour long TV show. He learned where the Kecleon Shop and Wares was selling items for the Rescue Teams. They also were a general store for things like food and the diapers Nathaniel and Anthony needed. He also learned about Kangaskhan Storage, the Persian Bank, Gulpin Link Shop, Wigglytuff Friends Club, and the Makuhita Dojo. He got to meet the town elder Whiscash at his pond and finally what was possibly the most important part of the town. The Pelipper Post Office.
“This is where our mail for mission requests would come from.” Cyndaquil said. “The bulletin board has missions requesting anyone’s help. It’s empty unfortunately. Well, there are a few missions on it, but they can only be taken by teams with a high enough rescue rank. Try to take that A-Rank mission Nathaniel.”
Nathaniel grabbed the mission to some place called Mt. Thunder and found it wouldn’t come off of the board.
“The board prevents anyone from taking the mission who doesn’t have the required Rescue Rank. We’re not even Normal Rank yet so we can only take one E-Rank Mission per day.” Cyndaquil said.
“Maybe you’d take mine.” A familiar voice said from behind them.
“Caterpie!” Nathaniel said. “What’s up?”
“A couple friends of mine need rescuing and I can’t go to the Mystery Dungeon to rescue them.” Caterpie said. “My nanny has a panic attack almost every time I go into Tiny Woods, and that’s the shortest dungeon there is. She’d probably have a stroke if I were to go into Thunderwave Cave.”
“We’ll do it.” Nathaniel said. “Which way Cyndaquil?”

| Chapter 4
They reached Thunderwave Cave in minutes. Nathaniel decided to be the pack mule and was carrying not only the tool box, but also the backpack they were using as a diaper bag. When they got to the entrance of the cave, they saw two Magnemite floating at the entrance. The Magnemite explained that their two friends were stuck at the bottom of the cave and they couldn’t reach them with all of the other Pokémon attacking them. Nathaniel nodded and turned to his friends.
“Let’s go!”
They rushed into the cave and came to the first floor of the dungeon. A Rattata looked once at Nathaniel and charged. Nathaniel rolled his eyes and fired off an Aura Sphere at it. The attack KO’ed the Rattata. Anthony and Cyndaquil focused for a bit and Nathaniel did too. He saw the room with the staircase was straight ahead and that there were a few items there. There were also several red dots in there as well. They headed into the room and were set upon by three Poochyena, two Voltorb, and an Elekid.
“Let’s get them!” Nathaniel shouted as he charged the Elekid. The Elekid attacked Nathaniel with Thunder wave and Nathaniel smiled as the Lum Band worked perfectly. He then gave a series of kicks and punches to the Elekid before it disappeared. He turned and saw that Cyndaquil had taken care of the two Voltorb already and Anthony was finishing off one of the Poochyena. The third one was sneaking up on Anthony so Nathaniel took charge and hit him from behind with Aura Sphere for an instant KO. The Poochyena Anthony was fighting began to run off so Anthony gave him a Shadow Ball as a parting gift. The attack KO’ed the Poochyena and the team picked up the items they found. It was about six apples and some Poke. They went down the stairs and explored the rest of the cave. They only found Poke for the rest of the mission for some reason and then they saw the Magnemite they were supposed to help up ahead. They were stuck together and couldn’t move.
“How’d you guys get like that?” Nathaniel asked.
“We were looking for a few items in here and then an electromagnetic wave passed through the cave and we got stuck together. Because there were only two of us, we couldn’t make it an evolution into Magneton.” They said together. “Please get us out of here.”
“That’s what we’re here for.” Cyndaquil said. “If you’d be so kind as to activate the badge Nathaniel, we can all get out of here.”
Nathaniel pulled the badge from the headband and held it out to the two Magnemite. The two disappeared in a column of light and then Nathaniel held the badge in the air. The three of them disappeared as well. Nathaniel opened his eyes and found himself outside of the cave and the four Magnemite had already been joyously reunited.
“Thank you for helping us.” One of them said. “Please take these as a reward.”
Nathaniel took the items and found them to be three Reviver Seeds and a Ginseng. Nathaniel felt the rescue badge in his hands begin shaking and looked to see it change from a plain color, to what was now the Normal Rank Badge.
“Hey!” Cyndaquil said. “We’re normal rank now! Now we can take more than one mission!”
Nathaniel held the badge to the sky in triumph and then placed it back on his band. He placed the items in the toolbox and waved goodbye to the Magnemite as the team left back for base. All three of their stomachs growled along the way and they had a group laugh as they took out some of the apples they had found in Thunderwave Cave.
“Before we eat these, do either of you need a change?” Cyndaquil asked.
Nathaniel looked down and saw he was pretty wet by now and Anthony’s diaper was in no better condition. They let Cyndaquil change them and Nathaniel swore he saw another weird look in Cyndaquil’s eyes. Cyndaquil placed the used diapers on his back and then gave a burst of flames that incinerated the diapers in seconds. They ate their apples after that and went home to base. They crawled into the hay together and curled up so that it was hard to tell where one Pokémon began and another Pokémon ended. It wasn’t long before they drifted contentedly to sleep.
Chapter 5
Cyndaquil woke up that morning and got himself out of the tangle of Pokémon without waking them up yet again. He took a quick check of their diapers and saw that they were wet again. Cyndaquil smiled and went outside. He heard the familiar flap flap and Pelipper delivered some mail. Cyndaquil ran to the mailbox and found that a rescue mission to Tiny Woods was in the mailbox. He ran back inside and got out the apples with another glance at the diapers. Anthony and Nathaniel stretched, yawned and then walked over to Cyndaquil.
“Whatcha got there Cyndaquil?” Nathaniel asked taking an apple.
“Our first rescue request!” Cyndaquil said happily.
“Where to?” Anthony asked before biting his apple.
“It’s only Tiny Woods but it’s still our first request.” Cyndaquil said. “We should go and see if there’s a mission on the bulletin board for Tiny Woods and do it at the same time.”
“Good idea.” Nathaniel said finishing his apple. “Let’s get going now before they’re all taken.”
Cyndaquil changed their diapers before they ran outside and Cyndaquil ate his apple on the way. They reached the bulletin and Nathaniel scanned the board quickly. He found a request for a rescue and took it quickly. They walked back to the base and took a look at the missions before they went out. The one Nathaniel grabbed was a Voltorb that got in over his head. The one they were requested to do made all three of them laugh.
“We’ll have to give Butterfree a repeat customer discount.” Nathaniel laughed.
“I’ll bet we find him fighting the Pokémon on the floor.” Anthony said.
“Let’s go save the Voltorb and get Caterpie then.” Cyndaquil said laughing.
They had no trouble finding Voltorb and KO’ed several Pokémon along the way. Nathaniel simply used the badge and Voltorb requested they meet him in front of the post office later. When they got to the last floor of the dungeon, they didn’t need to use the Specs to find Caterpie. All they had to do was follow the sounds of the battling. Before they could even enter the room, Caterpie finished off a Pidgey with a Fire Blast. Caterpie looked at them with the battle glint still in his eyes but then rolled them when he saw who they were.
“Nanny sent you, didn’t she?” He asked.
“Yep.” Nathaniel said. “Don’t worry, we won’t charge her. We just get rescue points out of this.”
“What if she offers?” Caterpie asked.
“Then it’s only if she is really insistent.” Nathaniel said. “We’ll try then to lower it to as small a reward as possible.”
“If she offers you guys berries again go ahead.” Caterpie said. “May as well rescue me since I’m done here.”
Nathaniel smiled and held out the badge and Caterpie disappeared. He then held the badge up and they too left the dungeon. They appeared outside the dungeon with Caterpie and walked back to Pokémon Square. When they got to the post office Voltorb came up to the team. It handed them some poke and left with an additional thank you. Nathaniel looked around for Butterfree and didn’t see her so they took Caterpie back to base and took out some of the apples they found in Tiny Woods. The four of them chowed down and Nathaniel was sure this time when Cyndaquil changed him that there was an odd look in his eyes. He didn’t say anything but made a note to bring it up later. Butterfree came by the base an hour later and pretty much tackled Caterpie when she saw him.
“Oh my little love bug!” She wailed. “I was so worried! Are you okay?”
“Yes nanny, I’m fine.” He answered annoyed once more at being called love bug.
“Thank you Team Libra for saving him again.” Butterfree said. “You even fed him after that horrible ordeal. Please, take these berries and this apple as my thanks.”
Caterpie nodded to Nathaniel and Nathaniel accepted the reward. Caterpie rolled his eyes again as Butterfree carried him off in a cradled position, and the team made sure they were gone before they began laughing. It was soon time to hit the hay (literally) and Nathaniel stopped Cyndaquil before they got into bed.
“I wanted to ask you something Cyndaquil.” Nathaniel said.
“Sure, ask away.” Cyndaquil said.
“I just wanted to know if anything has been on your mind lately.” Nathaniel said. “I noticed a weird look in your eyes when you changed me the past few times.”
“I noticed too.” Anthony said. “I just wasn’t sure so I didn’t say anything. Is there something you’re not telling us? If you need something or something is wrong we can help.”
“That’s right.” Nathaniel said. “We’re a team Cyndaquil. The closer we are, the stronger we are.”
“Okay guys.” Cyndaquil said timidly. “I … I feel a little strange when I look at your diapers for some reason. I don’t know why but I felt that way when I used to babysit too. The feeling confuses me. I don’t know what to do about it.”
Nathaniel and Anthony looked at each other and smiled. This seemed a little familiar to them somehow and Nathaniel knew just what to do.
“Maybe you like diapers Cyndaquil.” Nathaniel said.
“Sure I do.” Cyndaquil said. “I made no secret of the fact I like changing you guys.”
“No.” Nathaniel said. “I mean, maybe YOU like diapers. Maybe your changing them is just a way of living out what you want through someone else.”
“Do you really think so?” Cyndaquil asked.
“I’m pretty sure of it.” Nathaniel said.
“I guess that makes me pretty weird.” Cyndaquil said sadly.
“Of course not.” Nathaniel said hugging him. “Anthony and I both like diapers too. If you’d like, I’ll diaper you now. Then you can see if you really like diapers of not.”
“If you’re sure you want to then okay.” Cyndaquil said nervously.
“Relax buddy.” Nathaniel laughed. “It’s not like I’m performing surgery or anything.”
Nathaniel helped Cyndaquil lay down on the floor and then got out one of the diapers. He slid it under Cyndaquil and then powdered him and rubbed it in. He brought the front flap up and taped the diaper before looking at Cyndaquil.
“That wasn’t so bad now was it?” Nathaniel asked.
Cyndaquil sat up and prodded the diaper that was now around his waist. He smiled and then hugged Nathaniel saying, “Thank you.” Nathaniel smiled broadly and surprised Cyndaquil by carrying him over to the hay and then they all curled together before falling asleep. Cyndaquil woke up halfway through the night needing to pee. He took a deep breath and decided to just relax and smiled as he fell asleep to warmth that spread through his diaper.

| Chapter 6
Nathaniel was actually the first one to wake up in the morning. He looked at his diaper and saw he’d soaked it. He remembered having a strange dream but not the details. He shrugged and checked Anthony’s diaper. It was wet and Nathaniel was surprised to see Cyndaquil’s diaper wet as well. He smiled as he realized Cyndaquil must have woken up during the night and used it. He sure seemed to like it by the smile that was on his face. He got up without waking the others and stretched before walking outside. He stopped when he saw someone at his mailbox, and it wasn’t Pelipper.
“HEY!” Nathaniel shouted. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Babies like you shouldn’t be playing at being a rescue team.” A Gengar said chuckling wickedly. “You might get a cut and have to run home crying to mommy.”
An Ekans and Medicham laughed behind him. “So we’ll just take these missions to make sure you don’t get hurt.”
They ran off before Nathaniel could do a thing and he growled angrily. He was about to walk back inside when an odd voice stopped him. He couldn’t hear what it said because it sounded muffled. It also sounded as if three were talking at once.
“Who’s there?” Nathaniel asked. He jumped back when the ground opened up in front of him and a Dugtrio poked his head out of the ground.
“Sorry.” They said in unison. “We just asked if this was the base of Team Libra.”
“Yes it is.” Nathaniel said. “Do you need something?”
“As a matter of fact we do.” He said. “Our son was snatched by a Skarmory and taken to the top of Mt. Steel.”
“That’s terrible.” Nathaniel said. “I’ll wake me time, we’ll have breakfast, change and then we’ll be on our way. You can count on us!”
“Thank you very much.” Dugtrio said before digging underground and setting the ground right.
Nathaniel hurried inside and got out three diapers. He quickly cleaned himself and put a fresh diaper on himself. He made sure he taped it right and then dragged Anthony aside.
“Hey! What gives?” Anthony asked waking up.
“We’ve got an emergency mission.” Nathaniel said as he untapped Anthony’s diaper. “We have to get going quickly.”
He finished with Anthony and then looked at the now wide awake Cyndaquil. “Do you want to wear a diaper today?”
“I’d like to try it.” Cyndaquil answered.
Nathaniel changed Cyndaquil quickly and then packed the backpack with six diapers and grabbed the toolbox. He saw the Ginseng inside and decided to gulp it down. He knew by the rush that his Aura Sphere just got much stronger and he ran out the door. He tossed an apple to his team as they caught up to him and they ate on their way to Mt. Steel. Dugtrio was waiting for them at the base.
“We’d come with you but we can’t make it that high and would only hinder you.” He said. “Good luck!”
Nathaniel nodded and the trio rushed into a cave that would get them to the summit. They battled several Pokémon along the way and found a few handy seeds along the way. They reached the top of the mountain and saw Diglett of on a ledge.
“HELP ME PLEASE!” Diglett cried. “I’M TOO SCARED TO MOVE!”
“How are we supposed to get him down from there?” Anthony asked.
“Let’s handle her first.” Cyndaquil said pointing.
Nathaniel ducked as Skarmory swooped low over them and landed in front of them. Judging by the look in her eyes, she wasn’t in any mood to talk. Nathaniel pulled out a few seeds and tossed one to both of his teammates. They threw their seeds at Skarmory and the Blast Seeds exploded. Skarmory swooped at Nathaniel and he ate his. A huge jet of flames erupted from his mouth and engulfed Skarmory. Skarmory took a few steps back and began to swoop at Nathaniel again. Nathaniel cupped his hands together and thrust them forward using an Aura Sphere that was much larger than the one he used to use by about three notches. Skarmory screeched and disappeared. Nathaniel exhaled and then looked at Diglett.
“We’ll find a way to get you down, don’t worry.” Nathaniel said.
“Maybe we can help.” A familiar set of voices said.
Nathaniel looked up and saw the two Magnemite they had saved descending upon Diglett. “You go ahead and get out of here, and we’ll get Diglett back to his papa.”
Nathaniel smiled and raised his badge. The trio appeared back at the bottom of the mountain and waited with the anxious Dugtrio. Diglett popped up beside them and the two Pokémon nuzzled each other.
“Thank you for defeating Skarmory.” Dugtrio said. “And thank you Magnemite for saving our son.”
“It was nothing.” Magnemite said. “We feel a kinship with you since our evolutions are both made of three of us.”
“That was so scary Papa.” Diglett said. “I was up so high I couldn’t feel the ground beneath my feet.”
“Feet?” Cyndaquil asked.
“He has them?!” Magnemite asked shocked.
Everyone laughed and then Nathaniel and his team departed for home with another Ginseng. Anthony and Cyndaquil nodded when Nathaniel looked at them and Nathaniel felt his Aura Sphere grow much stronger again as he chugged the drink down. They got home and Nathaniel changed all three of their diapers before they fell asleep together once more.
Chapter 7
Nathaniel woke up again and ran outside immediately. He didn’t see that Gengar anywhere but another Pokémon was by the mailbox.
“Caterpie! What are you doing here?” Nathaniel asked.
“I need a rescue mission.” Caterpie said. “My friend Metapod is stuck in Sinister Woods and I can’t go there to help him.”
“Then let us help you instead of a bunch of babies that need their diapers changed.” Gengar said walking with his cronies up to the base.
“I came to them because I can’t offer much and they usually don’t charge much for one thing.” Caterpie said irritatedly.
“Oh we won’t charge much either.” Gengar laughed wickedly. “You can just join our team when you’re old enough.”
Then the Gengar ran off with his team laughing. Caterpie looked absolutely furious.
“Another reason I didn’t go to you was because you guys are a bunch of jerks.” Caterpie said. “You guys better beat them to Metapod. Beat them up if you have to. I don’t want Metapod to have to be rescued by that bunch of thugs.”
“You got it.” Cyndaquil said coming out of the base with the bags and a fresh diaper. “We’ve already changed. We’ll take care of you and eat on the way.”
Cyndaquil changed Nathaniel standing up and they took off each with an apple and kept their speed until they reached the Sinister Woods. Nathaniel didn’t see what was so sinister about it but Cyndaquil gulped back the nervousness he began to feel. The team looked at each other and walked in. Nathaniel was immediately set upon by an Oddish. It tried several powder and spore attacks on him before he used Quick Attack to knock it out. They kept exploring until they came to a clearing in the woods.
“We’ve come a long way and still no sign of Metapod.” Cyndaquil said. “He can’t be much farther ahead now.”
“You won’t be reaching him though.” Gengar said as he and his cronies ran in front of them. “I told you that you shouldn’t be playing at being a rescue team. You’ll get yourselves hurt.”
“You really think you can beat us?” Nathaniel asked.
“Are you challenging us?” Gengar asked grinning wickedly.
“I’ll make it official then.” Nathaniel said before ducking Nightshade. “Never mind, let’s fight!”
Nathaniel fired an Aura Sphere at Medicham while Anthony hit Gengar with Shadow Ball. They KO’ed their targets and went to help Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil waved them off and attacked Ekans fiercely with Tackle and Ember while Ekans tried to Wrap Cyndaquil. Eventually the poison Pokémon fell and the trio snorted their contempt at the meanies and began to walk away. Nathaniel heard something behind him and turned to see Gengar about to attack them from behind. Before Nathaniel could react or Gengar could fire off an attack, Gengar was hit from behind by a Blast Seed. Gengar grimaced before rolling his eyes and falling again. The other two members of the team turned around and Cyndaquil ran at the Chikorita who had apparently thrown the Blast Seed.
“Chikorita!” Cyndaquil cried joyfully as he hugged the grass Pokémon. “It’s great to see you again. What are you doing here of all places?”
“I came to help out Team Libra when I heard they came after Team Meanies on the same mission.” Chikorita said. “Looks like I wasn’t needed too much since you guys took them out for me. Where is Team Libra anyway?” she asked playfully.
“Ha ha.” Cyndaquil said shoving her. “Thanks for saving us.”
“I could get used to it if I could join you three.” Chikorita said.
“Would you really join us?” Cyndaquil asked excitedly.
“If it’s okay with your teammates and you tell me why you three are in diapers exactly.” She answered.
Nathaniel walked up to Chikorita and said, “We’d be glad to have you. We’ll explain the diapers later. Right now we still have to find Metapod.”
“Here I am.” A young voice said.
The group looked and out came Metapod. “I was hiding and using Harden to keep myself safe. Thanks for coming to rescue me.”
“No problem.” Nathaniel said smiling as he held his badge out. Metapod disappeared and then the new team of four disappeared as well. When the five Pokémon made it back to base they found Caterpie waiting for them.
“Glad you guys are the ones to rescue Metapod.” Caterpie said. “I got this today so you have it as your reward. Don’t refuse it or I’ll kick your butt.”
Nathaniel took the offered Ginseng and swallowed it to increase his Aura Sphere once again. Metapod and Caterpie said goodbye before leaving and the group walked inside for a dinner of apples. When they’d finished Chikorita spoke up.
“So now are you going to tell me why the three of you are in diapers?”
“Anthony and I both need them.” Nathaniel said lying down to let Cyndaquil change him. “But we both really like them as well. I noticed an odd look in Cyndaquil’s eyes as he changed us a few times so we got to talking and experimented to see whether he likes diapers or not.”
“And do you Cyndaquil?” Chikorita asked.
“Yes I do.” Cyndaquil said almost inaudibly.
“Well that’s a relief.” Chikorita said.
“Come again?” all three of them asked. They were not expecting her to say that.
“Remember when I was just young enough for you to babysit me while you were just old enough Cyndaquil?” Chikorita asked.
“Do you still have that problem?” Cyndaquil asked shocked.
“Yes I still do.” Chikorita said. “It doesn’t help that I was never in a hurry to stop wetting the bed so I still do.”
“So you’re going to need one of us to diaper you for bed?” Nathaniel asked.
“You got it.” Chikorita said. “Since the three of you actually like diapers, you can’t make fun of me for liking it when someone diapers me.”
“She’s got a point.” Nathaniel said laughing. “So are you also saying you’d like to be in diapers full time?”
“I could never afford it.” Chikorita said. “But if we can then yes.”
“How are we on diapers and funds?” Nathaniel asked.
“I bought the biggest crate of diapers the Kecleon Store had and we still have plenty at the rate we use them.” Cyndaquil said. “As for funds, as long as we find some Poke each time we enter a dungeon we should be fine. Diapers aren’t all that expensive. The crate of four hundred only cost like fifty Poke.”
“Cool.” Nathaniel said yawning as he finished diapering Anthony and began on Cyndaquil. “We should get some sleep. We’ve got another day ahead of us tomorrow.”
Nathaniel finished diapering Cyndaquil and then diapered Chikorita. Chikorita wiggled gleefully inn her diaper and the four of them crawled into the hay and fell asleep.

| Chapter 8
Nathaniel was the first to wake up again. He woke from a strange dream but couldn’t remember the details again. He checked everyone’s diapers and found all of them to be wet. Nathaniel yawned and stretched before grabbing a fresh diaper and changing himself. He then grabbed all of the Poke they had and went to buy a few apples. He saw some kind of commotion in the square and avoided it until he got to Felicity Bank and listened in.
“Why won’t you help me?” a Jumpluff asked. “You’re perfect for the job. Your fans can blow my friend to safety.”
“I won’t help because it’s a waste of time.” A Shiftry answered. “You won’t offer enough to make it worth my time.”
Nathaniel looked at what was going on after he deposited the Poke. He was about to go and give the Shiftry a piece of his mind when someone beat him to the punch.
“Help him anyway.”
Everyone went quiet as an Alakazam, Charizard and Tyranitar walked into the square. Everyone then started whispering and muttering and all Nathaniel could get was “Team ACT” and “Gold Rank”. The Alakazam walked up to Shiftry and just looked at him.
“It is the job of the rescue team to help any Pokémon in need.” Alakazam said. “The reward is not a consideration. If you truly cannot handle the mission, then it is reasonable to refuse. But refusal based on reward is not the mark of a true rescue team.”
“Fine.” Shiftry said after awhile. “I’ll make my way there to help.”
“Thank you.” Jumpluff said.
Everyone started to clear away and Alakazam’s team made their way past Nathaniel. Alakazam squeezed by Nathaniel and said “Excuse me.” Before stopping in his tracks and looking at Nathaniel.
“You okay Alakazam?” Charizard asked.
“Yes, I’m fine.” Alakazam responded before turning away and walking towards the post office with his team.
Nathaniel shrugged and walked back towards the base. When he got back he found Cyndaquil had woken up already. Cyndaquil smiled at Nathaniel before lying down on the ground. Nathaniel set the apples he had down and walked over to change Cyndaquil.
“No mission requests today.” Cyndaquil said. “I checked the mailbox while you were gone. Did you see Team ACT while you were in the square? They passed by as I was checking the mail.”
“Yes I did.” Nathaniel said. “They convinced a Shiftry to get his team to help a Jumpluff.”
“How cool are they?” Cyndaquil asked hypothetically. “They’re a Gold Rank rescue team. We’re only… are we still normal, or did we increase to Bronze?”
Nathaniel looked and saw that the badge had increased to Bronze Rank. Cyndaquil torched the used diapers and the duo ate their breakfast while they waited for Anthony and Chikorita woke up. Nathaniel got up and left Cyndaquil to watch them while he went to check the bulletin boards. He found that all of the missions within his reach were already taken so he went back to base and found Cyndaquil just finishing changing Chikorita after changing Anthony. Cyndaquil torched the diapers and looked up at Nathaniel.
“No missions today unfortunately.” Nathaniel said. “We can either just relax today, or we can go out to a dungeon to train or something.”
“I could use a break.” Anthony said. “If nobody needs our help, why risk getting ourselves hurt?”
“He’s got a point.” Cyndaquil said. “Let’s just hang around base today.”
They did and had a refreshing day. Chikorita did just a bit of shopping to get herself a held item and came back with a pair of Goggle Specs in contact form. Those would make it so Chikorita could see Invisible Pokémon and traps. The traps would be marked on the map they could see by focusing and the invisible Pokémon they may or may not encounter would be marked with a red dot.
The day passed by quickly. Nathaniel noted they used more diapers that day than they had the rest of the time they had been wearing them. He guessed it was because they were so much more relaxed and thus used them more often. Nathaniel and Cyndaquil changed everyone again before they fell asleep.
Nathaniel could hear voices. The dream was becoming clearer! He couldn’t make out much, but he could hear, “cause of the disasters.”
“What’s the cause of the disasters?” Nathaniel asked.
He didn’t get a response as he felt himself slowly awakening.
Nathaniel opened his eyes and shut them quickly. His dream made him a little groggy and the bright sunlight that was right on his eyes didn’t help. He crawled out of the pile of Pokémon and stood up arching his back. He slowly opened his eyes this time and then checked diaper status. Everyone was in need of a change again and they still had enough to last them awhile. He changed his own diaper and walked outside to the mailbox. He found nothing in the mailbox but he did hear someone approaching. He turned and saw the Jumpluff from yesterday coming towards him.
“Is this the Libra Team base?” Jumpluff asked.
“Did Shiftry back out from helping you?” Nathaniel asked. “If he did then Team Libra is at your service.”
“It’s not that he backed out from helping me.” Jumpluff said. “I’m worried about him. He hasn’t come back from his mission yet. I was hoping you would go after him and help my friend if he can’t.”
“When my team is ready we’ll head out.” Nathaniel said. “Where can we find them?”
“At Silent Chasm.” Jumpluff said. “I’ll lead you to the dungeon but I can’t go with. I’m not strong enough to help at all in there.”
“Give me a few minutes and we’ll be right out.” Nathaniel said.
He walked back inside and found Cyndaquil already awake and changing Chikorita. Nathaniel grabbed another diaper and walked over to the still sleeping Anthony and shook him gently awake as he began to change him.
“We’ve got a new mission guys.” Nathaniel said. “We’re going to go as a backup rescue team for Shiftry. He hasn’t come back yet from rescuing Jumpluff so we’re going to find them both. The Jumpluff that requested this mission is going to lead us to Silent Chasm and we’ll take it from there.”
“Did you just say Silent Chasm?” Cyndaquil asked nervously.
“Yeah, why?” Nathaniel asked.
“Haven’t you heard that a monster is supposed to live there?” Chikorita asked.
“The monster part is just a story I think to discourage others from going there.” Cyndaquil said. “I think it’s just a really strong and aggressive Pokémon that it would be a good idea to avoid. Hence the monster story to keep others from having to face that Pokémon.”
“Monster or not, we’re still going.” Anthony said getting up. “We’re a rescue team and will not back down from mere stories.”
“Quite right.” Nathaniel said tossing Anthony an apple before biting into one himself. “Eat up guys and then we leave at once.”
They ate breakfast and left the base. Jumpluff led the way and it wasn’t too long before they made it to Silent Chasm. Nathaniel looked at his team and despite being clearly nervous, Cyndaquil and Chikorita nodded at him. Anthony looked at him determined to follow him. Nathaniel couldn’t remember, but he knew that Anthony had stuck with him through thick and thin and would not abandon him.
“We’ll be back Jumpluff.” Nathaniel said before he leapt into the dungeon with his team following closely behind.

| Chapter 9
When Nathaniel ran into the dungeon he was immediately glad he hadn’t brought Jumpluff. The dungeon had several bug, poison and flying Pokémon that would be very effective against the grass Pokémon. Nathaniel knew his attacks wouldn’t be as effective against them so he focused on some of the other Pokémon with Chikorita while Anthony and Cyndaquil took care of the others. The Pokémon here seemed even more agitated than others Nathaniel had seen.
“There may be something to those beast tales.” Nathaniel said to his team as he Aura Sphered a Teddiursa. “The Pokémon here seem even more aggressive. I wonder if maybe Shiftry woke it up and that’s why he hasn’t come back.”
“Do you really think so?” Cyndaquil asked as he KO’ed a Weedle.
“Makes sense to me.” Anthony said dispatching a Farfetch’d.
They continued to battle their way through the wild Pokémon until they came to a calm spot. Nathaniel saw a Jumpluff up ahead cowering.
“Jumpluff!” Nathaniel said. “Are you okay?”
“Y-y-yes.” Jumpluff stuttered. “Shiftry’s in trouble though.”
“Here” Nathaniel said holding out his badge. “Wait for us with your friend.”
Jumpluff disappeared and the team ran forward. They found Shiftry lying on the ground and Nathaniel crouched down next to him.
“Are you okay?” Nathaniel asked.
“Do I look like I’m okay?” Shiftry asked.
“Sorry.” Nathaniel said. “Standard question.”
The light in the clearing started diminishing and Shiftry became terrified.
“You have to get out of here!” He said. “It’s coming back! AAAAAAGGGHHHHH!”
As Shiftry screamed there was a brilliant flash of light and Nathaniel felt himself flung backwards. When he looked up he saw what the beast of Silent Chasm really was. It was the Warrior of Thunder, Zapdos! Nathaniel looked around and saw that Shiftry had vanished.
“Where’s Shiftry?” Nathaniel shouted at Zapdos.
“He woke me up and must pay.” Zapdos said. “His gust of wind tore the cloud I was slumbering on. If you are so determined to free him. Meet me at the top of Mt. Thunder.”
Zapdos let out a cry and before Team Libra could do anything, there was another bright flash of light and Zapdos was gone.
“This is rather unfortunate.” Alakazam said from behind Nathaniel.
“What are you three doing here?” Nathaniel asked.
“We found Team Meanies plotting to sabotage your mission and take credit for completing it.” Alakazam said. “We stopped them and came ourselves when we heard where you were going. Looks the beast of the Silent Chasm has awakened.”
“I don’t get it though.” Nathaniel said. “Shiftry can make winds with those fans of his but they shouldn’t be strong enough to cause what Zapdos said.”
“They’re not.” Alakazam said. “The natural disasters must be spreading to the wild lands. You continue with your own missions. We’ll handle Zapdos.”
“Now wait just a minute!” Nathaniel shouted. “Zapdos challenged us, not you. We’re going to go and rescue Shiftry like Jumpluff asked us to do.”
“A Bronze Rank team of beginners like you will be no match for Zapdos.” Alakazam said calmly. “Leave this to someone who can handle the job.”
“We can handle the job.” Nathaniel said staring Alakazam in the eyes adamantly.
Alakazam stared right back into Nathaniel’s eyes. Alakazam was confused by what he saw there. It was a fierce determination that no Pokémon he’d ever met had. There was something within him that just emanated power.
“You’re not really a Pokémon, are you?” Alakazam asked.
“Yes I am.” Nathaniel answered. “I used to be a furr though if that is what you’re asking.”
“What’s a furr?” Chikorita whispered to Cyndaquil.
“Later.” Cyndaquil answered.
“I’d like to know what a furr is exactly as well.” Alakazam said.
“A furr is an anthropomorphic animal.” Nathaniel said. “That’s a sort of humanized animal, or an animalized human. A cross between them resulting in a bipedal animal.”
“How much are they like humans?” Alakazam asked.
“Other than the physical changes, there’s not much of a difference.” Nathaniel answered.
“That explains why you are so different from your team.” Alakazam said. “You may attempt to rescue Shiftry. We will head there as well. It is up to whoever gets there to rescue him.”
“Fine!” Nathaniel said before raising his badge and leaving the dungeon with his team.
Chapter 10
The team changed when they got back to base. Jumpluff thanked them there, but Nathaniel refused any reward since Shiftry was the one who rescued Jumpluff. They had dinner from the apples they’d found in the chasm and Nathaniel decided to put their stuff in storage before he went to bed. Anthony was the only one awake when he got back.
“They had a few questions neither of us could answer.” He said.
“I was guessing they would.” Nathaniel said.
“Just be prepared to be asked them.” Anthony said curling up. Nathaniel got into the hay with him and they both fell asleep.
Nathaniel was dreaming again. He heard the words, cause of the disasters, again and saw a Pokémon this time. It was a sort of vague outline but he was sure it was a Gardevoir. He tired to focus and make the dream clearer but only woke himself up.
Nathaniel got up as soon as he woke up and walked outside. The sun was just about to rise and Nathaniel could still see the stars. One seemed much brighter than the others and Nathaniel guessed that a morning star was a good omen. When he saw the sun rise red, he wondered if he was wrong. He went back inside and woke his team up and they changed and had breakfast.
“You two looked troubled.” Nathaniel said to Cyndaquil and Chikorita. “What’s up?”
“We’re just confused about your being a human.” Cyndaquil said.
“I’m not a human.” Nathaniel said. “I’m a Pokémon that used to be a furr.”
“But you said furrs are just like them.” Chikorita said.
“And what are humans like?” Nathaniel asked calmly.
“We can only base them off of an old story involving a human.” Cyndaquil said. “I can’t remember the tale but it wasn’t good.”
“I know Nathaniel guys.” Anthony said. “As a fellow Pokémon, you can trust me he’s one of the nicest furrs you’d ever be lucky enough to meet. We may not be able to remember our lives but I do know that to be true.”
“I’m not sure you’re completely a Pokémon either.” Alakazam said from the doorway. “You have much the same look in your eyes that Nathaniel has. There’s a difference but it is there.”
“What are you doing here Alakazam?” Nathaniel asked.
“I’m here to let you know that since it was your mission, you may have a head start if you leave quickly.” Alakazam said. “My team will not wait long however so it would be best to leave as soon as possible.”
Nathaniel nodded and grabbed the backpack and toolbox and rushed past Alakazam with his team after a quick look at the map for Mt. Thunder. They arrived and saw why it was called Mt. Thunder. It seemed as if it was always in the midst of a thunder storm. Nathaniel looked to his team. Anthony was ready as always. Cyndaquil and Chikorita, now that the beast had a name and face, were much braver and were ready as well. Nathaniel nodded and they rushed up the mountain. There were many different elements to fight up the mountain and Nathaniel was surprised to see only four electric Pokémon. When they reached the peak, Nathaniel still didn’t see the electric Pokémon they’d been looking for.
“Where is that overgrown thunder chicken?” Nathaniel yelled angrily.
The sky grew dark and then there was a bright flash of light. When they could see again, the light had returned to normal and Zapdos was on the peak with them. “I’m right here.”
“Let Shiftry go or I’ll smack you down before asking again.” Nathaniel said.
“All by yourself?” Zapdos laughed. “I must admit you have pluck at least.”
“He won’t be alone.” Anthony said standing next to him.
“He has the three of us.” Cyndaquil said stepping up.
“There’s no way we can lose.” Chikorita said stepping up.
Zapdos smirked and then took a Peck at Chikorita. His head was knocked aside as Nathaniel hit him with Aura Sphere. Before Zapdos could retaliate, Cyndaquil hit him with Smokescreen and Anthony hit him with Shadow Ball. Chikorita then Tackled Zapdos and as Zapdos was about to recover his footing, Nathaniel leaped at him and placed his hand on Zapdos’s chest and used Force Palm. Zapdos was laid flat out on his back and Nathaniel stood on top of him. He held his palm close to Zapdos’s head and Zapdos looked into his eyes when his own cleared.
“Looks like the four of you have beaten me.” He said. “I will release Shiftry.”
Nathaniel hopped off of Zapdos and there was a brilliant flash of light. Shiftry appeared from it and Team ACT arrived at that moment.
“You beat Zapdos.” Alakazam said amazed.
“Yes they have.” Zapdos said. “I’ve freed Shiftry but if he disturbs my rest again I will not be so kind.”
“Shiftry is not responsible for your awakening Zapdos.” Nathaniel said.
“Natural disasters have been occurring at increasing intervals in the peaceful lands.” Alakazam said. “They have begun spreading to the wild lands as well.”
Zapdos was silent for a moment. “This bears investigation.” Zapdos spread his wings and took off into the air.
Nathaniel felt his forehead throbbing and put his hand there. He realized it was the badge and looked at it. His rescue rank had increased to Silver! Nathaniel smiled and looked at his team. He raised his badge into the air and the four of them returned to base.

| Chapter 11
Everyone was tired when they got back. They sleepily changed their diapers and fell to the hay in a heap. Nathaniel began dreaming almost immediately.
Gardevoir was definitely there this time. Nathaniel kept asking what it was that was going on but he couldn’t hear Gardevoir’s response. He heard new words but couldn’t make out what the voices were trying to tell him.
“You’re here…cause of the disasters.”
Nathaniel woke up and was surprised to see it was daylight. They had gone to bed early and had slept much longer than they usually would have. Nathaniel contemplated his dream. He wished there was some way to figure it out. Thinking about the dream gave him a headache so he went outside for some fresh air. He looked to the sky and saw the morning star with the red sunrise again.
“Last time that happened, something else bad happened.” Nathaniel said to himself.
“Talking to yourself can be considered a sign of insanity.” Caterpie said coming up to him.
“Hi Caterpie.” Nathaniel said tiredly. “Need something today?”
“No just passing by.” He said. “Don’t worry; I left a note for nanny that I would be in town today. You seem troubled. What’s up?”
Nathaniel explained his coming to this world and his subsequent dreams. Caterpie listened to him intently and then seemed lost in thought when Nathaniel had finished.
“That’s quite a story.” Caterpie said. “I think I know of someone who may be able to help you.”
“Not a shrink or an asylum right?” Nathaniel asked warily.
“Of course not.” Caterpie said. “His name is Xatu. He’s supposed to be able to see into the future. Maybe he can see into yours and help you out.”
“Where can I find him?” Nathaniel asked wide awake now.
“He lives on the Hill of the Ancients.” Caterpie answered. “Best way to get there is go through the Great Canyon dungeon.”
“Thanks Caterpie!” Nathaniel said hugging him before he ran back inside.
Caterpie looked like a Christmas special as he turned red and green rapidly with embarrassment. He left for town not seeing the Pokémon watching them from the bushes.
“Personal mission today guys.” Nathaniel said excitedly as he woke his team up.
“What kind of personal mission?” Anthony asked as Nathaniel began to change him.
Nathaniel explained his dreams as everyone had their diapers changed and sat down to a bigger breakfast due to missing last night’s dinner. Everyone agreed to go when Nathaniel had finished and they left for the Great Canyon. A Pokémon watched them leave from the bushes and smiled as he stepped out.
“Time for some payback.” Gengar laughed before walking into town.
Nathaniel and the team reach the Great Canyon and charged in. Cyndaquil led the charge due to the numerous Grass and Bug Pokémon. Nathaniel helped against the few Dark and Normal Pokémon that showed up. Anthony handled the rest while Chikorita focused on the items. Eventually they made it through and walked up the Hill of the Ancients.
“There’s Xatu.” Nathaniel said seeing the bird Pokémon looking at the setting sun. “Wow it took us a long time to get here.”
They walked up to Xatu and Nathaniel gave a polite cough. Xatu either didn’t hear him or was ignoring him. Cyndaquil timidly crept up to him and gave him a light poke. Xatu didn’t notice and Nathaniel guessed he may be looking into the future. Chikorita looked frustrated and began tickling Xatu. Xatu still didn’t move so Anthony went up to Bite him. Before he could Xatu turned around.
“Oh! Hello there.” Xatu said. “What’s your … HAHAHAHAHA, HEHEHEHE!”
Nathaniel stood there with a dumb look on his face. He thought Xatu may have been invulnerable while it was looking into the future. Turns out it just had delayed reflexes. When Xatu stopped laughing, Nathaniel apologized and explained who they were and why they had come. Xatu frowned at that.
“I’m sorry.” He said. “I cannot help you as much as you would like. My future sight has been dimming as of late. It started in the peaceful lands when the disasters began. I came to the wild lands to avoid it and now even here it dims. I cannot look further into the future than a few moments now. I tried seeing further but all I saw was darkness.”
“Thank you anyway Xatu.” Nathaniel said. “We’ll take our leave then.”
“Farewell Nathaniel.” Xatu said. “May your future be brighter than I can foresee. I hope you find the answers you are looking for.”
Nathaniel smiled before raising his badge and reappearing in front of his base with his team. What he saw quickly wiped the smile from his face though.
Chapter 12
The whole town was staring at Nathaniel. There were several emotions amongst them. Anger and fear were predominant. Nathaniel took a step forward and the town ran off leaving only Team ACT behind.
“What’s going on Alakazam?” Nathaniel asked.
“Gengar has unfortunately told a tale that is very incriminating.” Alakazam said. “It was a tale of a human touching the tail of a Ninetales just to be daring. Ninetales was about to curse the boy but his Gardevoir took the curse in his stead. Ninetales gave the boy the chance to remove the curse but the boy ran away like a coward, leaving Gardevoir to her fate. Ninetales then cursed the human in a different manner. He will be reborn in a thousand years and just when he reaches his happiest state, he will be removed from his world and become a Pokémon. Gengar claims that such a Pokémon will be heralded by disaster upon disaster and will result in the end of the world shortly after his arrival.”
“That’s just plain stupid.” Nathaniel said.
“Is it really?” Alakazam asked. “The disasters began before you came and after your arrival the disasters spread even to the wild lands. I’m not sure what to believe. You do not seem the type, but I cannot deny the circumstances. It all seems to fit together. The town is likely gathering their courage to come and destroy you as Gengar says that it may prevent the coming final disaster. I recommend this, seek out the truth. I know Gengar is a rather untrustworthy Pokémon, but like me, nobody will be able to deny how the story fits together. If Gengar is wrong, you will be cleared and Gengar will likely never be trusted again. You should leave now, because we will unfortunately have to follow you as is our duty as a rescue team.”
Alakazam turned and left with his team. Anthony stood next to Nathaniel and just looked up at him.
“So what do we do now?” Anthony asked.
“We do as Alakazam said.” Nathaniel answered. “We seek the truth. I just don’t know how we can.”
“We find Ninetales.” Cyndaquil said.
“We?” Nathaniel asked. “This is my problem and Anthony’s as well. You two don’t need to get in on this.”
“Don’t need to but we will anyway like it or not.” Chikorita said. “You need our help anyway. How else are you going to find Ninetales?”
“Do you know where Ninetales is?” Nathaniel asked.
“No not really.” Cyndaquil said. “We can still help though. Ninetales is still believed to be alive since they can live almost indefinitely. The Ninetales we seek will likely be in a place difficult to reach so you’ll need us.”
“Thanks guys.” Nathaniel said. “Let’s start by losing the rescue teams.”
They fled to the wild lands and traveled as far as they could. When they stopped, they rested in front of a cave of blue stones. They didn’t rest long as they heard the sound of pursuing rescue teams. They ran into the cave and discovered it to be the Lapis Cave. There were a few aggressive Pokémon to fight through. They made it to the end however and still heard some rescue teams coming through. There were fewer so Nathaniel got an idea.
“Let’s go up that mountain over there and loose them in a mystery dungeon.” Nathaniel said.
The team looked at the mountain Nathaniel referred to with disbelief. It was a clearly active volcano!
“I recognize that mountain from my map!” Cyndaquil said. “That’s Mt. Flame!”
“Sounds challenging.” Nathaniel said. “If we can make it through, we’ll lose some rescue teams. The less following us, the less we may have to fight.”
The team nodded and they ran to the base of the mountain. They found a Kangaskhan statue there and Nathaniel was glad he’d put their diapers into storage because this statue had the power to call any items from storage they may need. They changed their diapers quickly and made sure they had enough before tossing their used ones in a small lava stream and running up the mountain.
Chapter 12
“Whew! That was tough.” Nathaniel said as they reached the top. “Not many are going to get through that!”
“And you will not pass through here.”
“Uh-oh!” Nathaniel said. He could feel a strong Pokémon nearby. His thoughts were proven as something burst from a pool of nearby lava. The creature landed and Nathaniel recognized the warrior of flames, Moltres.
“The mountain is in pain.” Moltres said. “Your coming here triggered it. I will punish you for your mis… ACK!”
Nathaniel stopped Moltres’s ranting by knocking him back into the lava with an Aura Sphere to the beak. He came right back up with flames both in his eyes and pouring from his beak. The Pokémon dodged the attack and Anthony used Helping Hand as Cyndaquil used Smokescreen. Chikorita hit Moltres from the side with Tackle and then Nathaniel hit Moltres with a Force Palm. Moltres was paralyzed by the attack and Nathaniel finished him off with a point blank Aura Sphere to the head. Everyone was surprised therefore when Moltres got up.
“I held back.” He said. “No longer will I do so.”
“Wait a second Moltres.” Nathaniel said. “We’re not causing the mountain’s pain. Natural disasters have been happening everywhere.”
Moltres stood there for a moment. The flames disappeared from his eyes. “I see. What are you doing upon my mountain then?”
“We are fleeing a mob that accuses me of causing the natural disasters.” Nathaniel said. “I flee to seek the truth of whether I am or not.”
“What will you do if you are causing them?” Moltres asked.
“Either way, I will find a way to stop them.” Nathaniel said. “If they cannot be stopped then I will help those who suffer from them.”
“Is that a promise?” Moltres asked.
“Yes it is.” Nathaniel said.
“Very well then.” Moltres said. “You may pass. I will guard your retreat.”
Moltres spread his wings and laughed as Nathaniel’s team flinched saying he was only spreading his wings. He dove into the lava and Nathaniel continued onward with his team. Nathaniel couldn’t help but wonder how many teams would make it past that. Only one team came to mind as he thought of it, Team ACT.

| Chapter 13
Things went from hot to cold as they were heading for a snow covered forest up ahead. Nathaniel thought he saw a flash of white fur up ahead but shook his head clear and it was gone. They changed diapers before they entered the forest and took a rest.
“Gardevoir!” Nathaniel shouted.
Gardevoir appeared and Nathaniel tried to block out whatever the other voices were saying. Gardevoir became much clearer and began to speak. Nathaniel could hear her this time.
“You called me Nathaniel.” She said. “I’m here to guide you, but there is only so much I can actually tell you.”
“Why have I come here?” Nathaniel asked.
“I’m sorry.” Gardevoir said. “You must discover something else before I can answer that.”
“What must I discover?” Nathaniel asked.
“The truth.” Gardevoir said simply.
“Where can I find Ninetales to discover the truth?”
“All I can tell you is that you are nearing your goal. Travel on and when you are close, I will direct you.”
“Is there anything else you can tell me?”
“Not without your asking.”
“How about the cause of the disasters that those voices keep whispering?”
“You actually heard them?” Gardevoir asked shocked. “That’s surprising. What have you heard exactly?”
“You’ve come…cause of the disasters.” Nathaniel answered.
“That explains why you couldn’t hear me before.” Gardevoir said. “You’ve been focusing on those voices. What you are hearing are spirits who may be. They are attempting to tell you that which they cannot remember. Why you’ve come and the cause of the disasters that led to the end of their world.”
“Are you the Gardevoir from Gengar’s story?” Nathaniel asked.
Gardevoir looked sad and nodded before Nathaniel woke up.
Nathaniel woke up and sighed. He’d just started getting some answers. Granted they didn’t change a thing at the moment, but they were still answers. He looked down and saw that he’d thoroughly soaked his diaper and with the snow around, it was quickly getting cold. Nathaniel stripped off his diaper and changed before he looked to his teammates. Their diapers were dry so he shook them awake and after Cyndaquil torched all of their used diapers and they covered the ashes, they marched into the forest. Nathaniel was surprised to see only a couple Ice Pokémon in the forest they learned was Frosty Forrest. There were a few Steel, Dark and Normal Pokémon there as well. Nathaniel was in his element for this dungeon. He had the advantage over every Pokémon in the dungeon except Metang. They finally reached a clearing and before they could cross it, there was a blinding flash of light.
“Who dare disturb the forest?” a chilling voice asked.
Nathaniel looked when he could see again and saw the warrior of ice, Articuno!
“We are Team Libra.” Nathaniel said.
“SILENCE!” Articuno said. “I did not ask you to speak.”
“Yes you did.” Nathaniel shouted. “You asked who we were even though we are not disturbing the forest.”
“SILENCE!” Articuno shouted again. “You have intruded upon this forest and then proceed to lie to me! For that all of you must pay!”
Before Articuno could do a thing, he was hit by four attacks at once. Aura Sphere, Razor Leaf, Flamethrower, and Shadow Ball. Articuno laughed and was hit again. He was angered at the second barrage.
“Let me show you a real attack.” He said. “BLIZZARD!”
There was a flash of light and when Nathaniel looked. There was a white furred Pokémon blocking Articuno’s attack.
“ABSOL!” Articuno yelled. “Why do you help them?”
“Because they are not the ones causing the disturbance in the forest.” Absol said. “Something else is causing all of these disasters. I can sense natural disasters and theses disasters are anything but natural. Therefore I can’t pinpoint what causes them unless I can get near the source. They are not responsible.”
“I’ll trust the word of the disaster Pokémon.” Articuno said. “I know, even if others don’t, that you sense and warn of disasters and do not herald or cause them. I must look into this. Team Libra, you may leave this forest.”
Absol turned to the team as Articuno winged off. “You may not be causing the disturbance, yet still you are here. Why?”
“We seek Ninetales.” Nathaniel said.
Absol’s eyes widened in shock and sat down to listen to Nathaniel. When Nathaniel finished telling his tale Absol nodded and stood up. “I’m coming with you then. I’d like to see Ninetales again as well.”
“You’ve seen Ninetales?” Nathaniel asked excitedly. “Where?”
“I’m not sure where she is now.” Absol said. “But I’m sure I can convince her to talk to you first instead of possibly chasing you off when we do find her. We should leave now. Articuno won’t be happy if you’re still here for too long and he’s not your only problem. I saw far off in the distance someone was following you. With Articuno gone, you won’t have another legendary Pokémon to guard your back.”
Nathaniel nodded and the team set off once more.
Chapter 14
It was getting colder and colder as they moved along. The team was unfortunately caught in a blizzard that whipped up faster than Absol could detect. With all of the natural disasters happening anyway, he couldn’t get a fix on much. Nathaniel had to squint his eyes to see where he was going. It was then that he saw something he didn’t expect to see until they made camp.
“Gardevoir?” Nathaniel thought confusedly.
Nathaniel couldn’t hear what Gardevoir was saying, but he got the message. She pointed and in a small clearing of the air, he saw a mountain up ahead. Nathaniel knew that was where he would find Ninetales. He pressed onward with his team and when they reached a sheltered side of the mountain, they changed diapers, had dinner, and went to sleep.
Nathaniel woke up refreshed from a dreamless sleep. It was daylight once more and the blizzard had blown over. He woke his team for diaper changes and breakfast before telling them what he saw last night.
“So Ninetales is somewhere on the mountain.” Anthony said. “With our luck she’s probably right at the top.”
“Knowing Ninetales she probably is.” Absol said.
“How do you know Ninetales anyway Absol?” Nathaniel asked.
Absol was clearly blushing. “She was my girlfriend.” Absol said quietly.
“Really?” Nathaniel laughed. “Despite the age difference?”
“Are you calling her old?” Absol asked with his fur rising a bit.
“Sorry.” Nathaniel said. “But if she is the Ninetales from Gengar’s story, she must be over 1000 years old.”
“She sure doesn’t seem that old except for her wisdom.” Absol said. “Yes despite the age difference we were a couple.”
“Were?” Nathaniel asked.
“We kind of split up for awhile when I decided to fight natural disasters for awhile.” Absol said. “We still love each other, but long distance relationships are so hard to maintain. Especially when the post office is terrified of you both.”
Nathaniel laughed. “We’ll let’s go reunite the two of you then.”
They made their way up the mountain fighting through the aggressive Pokémon that were foolish enough to get in their way. Absol proved to be a very strong battler and Nathaniel wondered if he could convince Absol to stay as a full time member. They reached the top at last and found it to be deserted.
“This is the summit so where’s Ninetales?” Nathaniel asked.
“Did we come all this way for nothing?” Anthony asked.
“Looks like it.” An unfortunately familiar voice said.
Everyone turned around and there stood Team ACT.
“I’m really sorry about this but we have no choice.” Alakazam said.
“Cyndaquil, Chikorita, Absol, stay out of this.” Nathaniel said. “You don’t have to be hurt on my account. I know I can’t stop you Anthony so if this is goodbye, I’m glad you’re at my side for it.”
“Same here.” Anthony said.
“We’re not going to leave you to fight them alone.” Cyndaquil said.
“Together we stand a chance.” Chikorita said.
“I said I’d help you, and I stand by that promise.” Absol said.
Nathaniel nodded at his team. “Bring it on Alakazam.”
The Pokémon clashed with close range attacks once and broke away. Before they could charge again, a huge jet of flames hit the ground between all of them. There was a flash of fur and Team ACT was knocked backwards. Standing in front of Nathaniel was a gorgeous Ninetales. It was easy to see why Absol fell for her.
“Get away from the cuties my little Absol brought me.” She growled.
“Little Absol?” Nathaniel asked. “Something you forgot to tell us?”
Absol was almost as red as the alternate color members of his species. He was smiling at the same time both for seeing Ninetales again and at how much trouble Alakazam would get into if he pressed the matter.
“Oh!” Ninetales said turning to Nathaniel. “Did he not mention the little game we used to play?”
“He mentioned nothing of the sort.” Nathaniel said. “Did he like to be younger than he really was?”
“At times.” Ninetales said smiling. “You seem very smart for someone so young. You speak so well too.”
“I’m older than the diaper makes me look.” Nathaniel said. “Absol was actually kind enough to lead me here because I had something to ask you.”
“Ask away then.” Ninetales said a bit more serious sounding now.
“I need to know if I’m the one from a story surrounding you.” Nathaniel said. “Am I cursed? And am I causing or heralding these disasters?”
“You're not the one I cursed a thousand years ago.” Ninetales said.
Everyone sighed with relief before jumping for joy.
“I’d like to know where you got the idea that you were causing these disasters from though.” Ninetales said.
Nathaniel explained the whole tale to Ninetales. Ninetales got a serious look on her face when he finished. “I’m coming back to Pokémon square with you to clear this whole thing up.” She said.
Just then a massive earthquake shook the mountain. When everyone could stand again they took stock of themselves.
“That’s not good.” Ninetales said. “That earthquake was strong enough to awaken Groudon.”
“Uh-oh!” everyone said simultaneously. They all had enough legend lore to know what Groudon was capable of.
“We’ll handle it.” Alakazam said.
“We’ll come too.” Nathaniel said.
“Not this time.” Alakazam said. “You’ve grown in strength, but you’re not that strong yet. Leave this to us.”
“We have to get you to Pokémon Square anyway to clear this up.” Ninetales said nuzzling him.
Nathaniel sighed and nodded. He returned to Pokémon Square with Ninetales, Absol and his team, while Team ACT went on to Magma Cavern.

| Chapter 15
The town came into view by nightfall. Judging by the lights, everyone was still awake. Nathaniel smirked at the thought of what the Pokémon in the square were going to look like when they walked in. He laughed out loud at what Gengar was going to look like when Ninetales corrected his story. Nathaniel took the lead through town and the crowd parted for him on seeing Absol and Ninetales right behind him.
“You sure have some nerve coming back here.” Caterpie said glaring at him. Then Caterpie smiled and said, “I’m glad you did though.”
“You’re just welcoming him back!” some of the Pokémon said among many other angry comments that Caterpie’s nanny probably would have swooned at knowing he heard them.
“Nathaniel!” Shiftry said stepping forward. “I realize I owe you for saving me so I’ll give you the chance to either leave, or hopefully you’ve come to disprove what Gengar has said.”
“I have.” Nathaniel said. “Where is Gengar anyway?”
“Got him.” Caterpie said pulling a tightly wrapped Gengar forward.
“YOU!” Ninetales shouted. There was pure terror in Gengar’s eyes. “I have a tale to tell everyone. It seems there’s been some kind of a mix up that has negatively affected poor Nathaniel here. I have heard the story that Gengar has told you. Up to the point where the cowardly human ran away, he was correct. My curse however was different.”
“How do we know you are the same Ninetales who cursed the human?” Medicham asked.
“Care to test me?” Ninetales asked and Medicham backed down. “The real curse would be that the human would be reborn 1000 years later as a Pokémon. Nothing more would happen. No middle point, no causing or heralding of disasters. The timing of it has been merely coincidental. For another thing, Nathaniel was not the one I cursed.”
“How do you know?” Ekans asked. “He doesn’t remember a thing about his past so he could be.”
“SILENCE!” Ninetales roared and Ekans quickly recoiled. “For the one thing, Nathaniel knows he was actually a fur before he became a Pokémon. My curse was upon a human and only a human. Memory loss also was not a part of my curse. Secondly, a Ninetales never forgets the curses they perform. Although the age of such curses has long since passed, I still remember the only two 1000 year curses I ever had to perform. I would recognize the one whom I cursed no matter what form he was in.”
There was a sudden ripping noise and everyone looked to see the cocoon Gengar was in ripped open. Gengar was already running away. It seemed that something just clicked in Caterpie’s mind and he launched a Fire Blast at Gengar. The attack collided and exploded, sending Gengar sailing off towards the horizon.
“I’m glad the one I cursed got some punishment for the trouble he caused at least.” Ninetales said.
“I thought it was him.” Caterpie said. “So he’s not causing the disasters either?”
“No and I have no idea what is.” Ninetales answered. “Now I believe you all owe Nathaniel an apology since you didn’t get your facts straight before persecuting him.”
Many of the town muttered and shuffled uncomfortably until Ninetales said, “Maybe I wasn’t clear. Apologize NOW or I’ll curse every single one of you here!”
“SORRY NATHANIEL!” the Pokémon chorused.
Nathaniel laughed and said, “I forgive each of you. Gengar tricked all of you and even had me doubting myself for a moment. I’ll just say that there are no hard feelings and Team Libra is back in business and better than ever before!”
The crowd cheered and the team went home. When they got there Nathaniel took out diapers for his team. As he was about to remove his, Ninetales placed a paw on his shoulder. Nathaniel looked at her and saw the same look she had towards him when they first met and she assumed them to be baby Pokémon.
“Let me help you sweetie.” She said smiling.
Nathaniel couldn’t resist her smile and let her change him. He made a mental note to learn that smile sometime. Ninetales used her smile on the rest of his team and she changed them as well. Nathaniel the watched in awe as the tip of her center tail began glowing and Absol began as well. There was a flash of light and then Absol was much smaller. He was small enough that when Ninetales put him in a diaper as well, it fit perfectly. Ninetales then ran outside telling them to behave and wait for her.
“So is this the usual thing for you two?” Nathaniel asked smiling at the tiny Absol.
“Yep!” Absol said in an excitedly young voice. “Isn’t she great?”
“Yes she is.” Nathaniel said. “I believe that each of Ninetales’s tails contain a different curse. How long does this one last?”
“As long as we both want it too, it can last forever.” Absol said. “Otherwise she can reverse it at will or it will wear off in a month.”
“It won’t last for a thousand years?” Cyndaquil asked.
“She did say that age has long since passed.” Nathaniel said.
“Ninetales told me that the thousand year curse was meant as a deterrent.” Absol said. “Few have ever been cursed by it. She says that she was the last one to do so before the Ninetales lost that ability.”
“It was my fault we did.” Ninetales said from the doorway.
Everyone jumped and Absol got nervous. Ninetales smiled and licked Absol until he calmed down. “It’s okay. I don’t mind your telling the tale. I’ve come to terms with it. I’m originally from another world. I was sent here after placing two 1000 year curses in quick succession. We were not supposed to do that.”
“Couldn’t you have reversed the one or transferred it to Gengar?” Anthony asked.
“Thousand year curses are much harder to remove.” Ninetales said. “Gardevoir was not the intended target anyway which may have made it even harder to remove, as well as more potent.”
“That would explain why Gardevoir is still a spirit when Gengar has suffered from the curse already.” Nathaniel said.
“Anyway, because I used the curse twice in quick succession the Ninetales lost the power to place a 1000 year curse.” Ninetales said. “Whether or not they gained the power back in the world I came from is anyone’s guess.”
Ninetales licked Absol once more and went back outside. She brought back a bag and took out some berries and a few apples. What she did with them resulted in a delicious new dinner for the team. After dinner was done she nudged the team into the hay and curled them close to her. Nathaniel stiffened up when she placed her tails close to him.
“Don’t worry dear.” Ninetales said. “Touching my tails will not result in a curse. It’s really if you pull them painfully that might result in an involuntary curse release. You can even cuddle with my tails if you like.”
Nathaniel smiled and tried grabbing a few of the tails. He could barely manage three so he just hugged one and fell asleep with a smile on his face. Ninetales smiled as well and licked the sleeping team before she curled as tightly around them as she could and fell asleep herself.
Chapter 16
Nathaniel woke abruptly when he felt something. Ninetales was awake as well. She leaned down and licked him soothingly on the forehead.
“It’s okay honey.” She said. “It was just a little tremor. Team ACT must have reached Groudon.”
Nathaniel felt relaxed again and fell asleep to the soothing rhythm of Ninetales licking him.
Nathaniel woke up again to a chill. He opened his eyes and saw that Ninetales was in the process of changing him. Everyone else was already up and munching on an apple. Ninetales finished and gave the front of his diaper a pat before handing him an apple.
“Eat up little ones.” Ninetales said cheerily. “You have a big day ahead of you. Someone came requesting you to take a look at their mission on the bulletin. You also need to decide who is going since the rescue badge can support only four of you. The last one can remain here with me today.”
“You two are staying?” Nathaniel asked.
“If you’d like us to.” Absol said. “We’d like to if you’ll have us.”
“We’d be happy to have you on the team guys.” Nathaniel said. “I’ll check out that mission and then decide who is going.”
Nathaniel ran through town and Ninetales showed him which mission it was they were supposed to be doing. It was to a place called Uproar Forest. Some Mankey located there were causing problems to those in the surrounding area.
“Would you consider coming with Ninetales?” Nathaniel asked.
“I’ve got to stay behind to take care of whoever doesn’t go.” Ninetales said smiling. “Otherwise I would come with.”
Nathaniel sighed. “I suppose we’ll leave Absol behind then. If we’re going to be fighting Mankey, I’d rather not have him suffer from the elemental disadvantage.”
“Wouldn’t you have to leave Anthony behind then?” Ninetales asked.
“He wouldn’t let me.” Nathaniel laughed. “Let’s go tell the others.”
They got back to base and got everyone and everything together. Nathaniel waved goodbye to Ninetales and the still tiny diapered Absol before they headed to the forest. When they got there, two Pokémon were waiting for them. A Wynaut and a Wobbuffet. Wynaut confirmed that the Mankey were still in the forest and Nathaniel nodded before leaping into the dungeon.
The moment they went down one floor, many Pokémon started appearing in the room they were in. It was a monster house! Cyndaquil hesitated for a moment and then leaped into a group of them and KO’ed them all with Lava Plume. Chikorita took out an Aipom with Razor Leaf while Anthony pegged a Mankey with Shadow Ball. Nathaniel got the last Nuzleaf with Aura Sphere and they picked up the items in the room before heading for the next floor. After awhile they reached the bottom and found three tough looking Mankey. The Mankey charged the group and Nathaniel waited for them to get close before using an attack from a TM he found. Just as the Mankey were right in front of him, he used Wide Slash and all three were sent flying backwards.
“Had enough?” Nathaniel asked.
“Not by a long shot!” the Mankey said before all three of them were hit by Shadow Ball, Flamethrower, and Razor Leaf. “Now we have.” And then the Mankey sank to the ground.
Nathaniel nodded and used the badge to escape from the dungeon. When they got back to base they found the two psychic Pokémon waiting for them.
“Did you punish the bad Mankey?” Wynaut asked.
“If they have two brain cells left between them, they’ll know not to cause any more trouble now.” Nathaniel said.
“Thank you.” Wynaut said frowning. “Now we feel guilty because we don’t have much to offer you.”
“That’s okay.” Nathaniel said looking at a chestnut he found in the dungeon. “It was an easy assignment and it got us some experience so no thanks necessary.”
“HEY YOU!”
Nathaniel looked behind him and saw the three Mankey from the dungeon.
“We want a rema … is that a che-che-CHESTNUT!?” the lead Mankey asked.
Nathaniel looked at the chestnut in his hands and got an idea. “Yes it is. If you want it, you can have it if you work for it.”
“What do you want us to do?” The Mankey asked.
“Fix up my base and make it look like a real rescue team base.” Nathaniel said.
“I can help with that.” Caterpie said coming up with Metapod.
“We can help too since we do owe you.” Wynaut said.
“Thanks guys.” Nathaniel said smirking. “Maybe we don’t need the Mankey.”
“How are you guys going to do the heavy lifting without us?” the lead Mankey asked snorting. “You’re strong in battle but weak of body. You need our help, but one chestnut isn’t going to cut it.”
“We’ll supply any chestnuts you need.” Wynaut said. “It’s the least we can do for you.”
Nathaniel smiled and said, “Thanks guys. I’m going to go and see what the Kecleon store has that we can use for dinner. Now that I’ve tasted what Ninetales can make, I don’t want to be stuck eating apples for every meal of the day.”
Nathaniel walked over to Pokémon Square after Ninetales stopped him for a diaper change. He saw everyone was clustered together and he went to see what all of the commotion was about. He found one of the local Pokémon speaking to the crowd.
“Team ACT hasn’t come back yet.” He said. “I think we should send someone to help them.”
Nathaniel was about to step forward but Shiftry stopped him. “I know you and your team have come a long way, but you aren’t ready for something like this. The birds you fought on your journey are small fries compared to Groudon. Let someone with more experience go after them.”
Nathaniel growled but nodded and watched as three team leaders volunteered to go, Blastoise from Team Hydro, Octillery from Team Constrictor and Golem from Team Rumblerock. Nathaniel bought some food from Kecleon and then went to check the diaper stock at Kangaskhan storage. He saw they’d need more soon so he bought another crate and set it into storage as well. He got back and Ninetales made dinner for them before they slept for the last time in their base because construction of the new base was scheduled to begin tomorrow.

| Chapter 17
Nathaniel woke up to Ninetales changing him again. He found he was actually still hugging one of her tails. He snuggled his nose into the soft fur and caused Ninetales to smile. Suddenly he felt very ticklish and began giggling as a few of her other tails started poking and prodding him. He never remembered being this ticklish and was helpless to defend himself as he writhed on the ground. No matter how much he curled or shifted, there was always a vulnerable spot and being tickled by nine tails at once didn’t help.
When Nathaniel could breathe again he asked, “How are you so good at tickling?”
“I’ve had a lot of practice.” Ninetales said smiling. “Having this many tails helps and since you were hugging one of my favorite tails, I put its curse on you.”
“WHAT?” Nathaniel yelped sitting up.
“Don’t worry, I removed it already.” Ninetales laughed. “It was one of the more harmless ones I have. I call it my tickle curse. It makes it very easy to tickle you anywhere so there’s no defending yourself.”
“So what other curses do you have?” Nathaniel asked warily.
“I have a total of nine curses I can inflict.” Ninetales said. “You’ve already seen me use one on Absol. That was my physical regression curse. Another is the tickle curse I used on you. I also have a separate curse for both bladder and bowel control resulting in complete removal. I also have one for mental regression. I make your mind and self act younger and even though you are totally aware of the change, you can’t stop yourself. I can also remove some of the control from your limbs. I can make them so weak that the most you’d be able to do to get around would be a clumsy crawl. I also have a form curse that can change humans into Pokémon. I’m betting it would work on furrs as well but it also has another function. I can send a Pokémon to a previous stage of evolution with it. Another curse is the attack removal curse. All attacks and abilities are negated. The last curse is my sleep curse. Usually when I apply it, the recipient will fall asleep immediately. They also will find themselves in need of more sleep.”
“So it looks like your curses are oriented towards causing your recipients to be infantile.” Nathaniel said smirking.
“What are you implying?” Ninetales asked.
“I’m just wondering if the curses in each Ninetales are random or if their personalities influence them.”
“Yes our personalities can influence them somewhat.” Ninetales said. “I like children, especially younger ones so my curses cause the recipients to take on childish traits. Physical and mental regression needs no explanation, same as loss of bladder or bowel control. Limb control can be used for those priding themselves on their strength by making them as physically helpless as a baby. I use form control to make them into a more manageable size usually but basic Pokémon are usually cuter anyway. The attack removal curse is to make them even more helpless. The tickle curse is just plain fun to use and the sleep curse gives them the need for naps.”
Nathaniel laughed and went out to check the mailbox. He saw the construction crew was camped outside the base with some supplies already. He got to the mailbox and found it to be empty. Just as he was about to go back inside there was a large tremor that almost knocked Nathaniel off his feet. Nathaniel ran inside and found everyone was alright so he went into town. He saw a large crowd had gathered and that Team ACT’s backup team was back as well barely on their feet.
“We couldn’t even make it to Groudon.” Blastoise said. “That dungeon is tough. I don’t know how anyone can get down there to help Team ACT.”
“With a group effort we can.” Nathaniel said stepping up. “If many rescue teams all went in at once there’d be no way that at least one of us wouldn’t make it. With all rescue teams working together, there’s no way we could lose!”
The crowd started to brighten at that. Then they all started cheering. Nathaniel smiled and knew they’d all do their best. Nathaniel quickly went to Kangaskhan storage and grabbed what he thought he’d need. He went back to base and saw his team having breakfast so he joined them.
“Where’s the mission to today?” Anthony asked.
“Wherever Groudon is.” Nathaniel replied.
“Good luck in Magma cavern then.” Ninetales said. “It’s a very tough dungeon to get through.”
“We’ll take the same team as yesterday.” Nathaniel said. “Groudon will be weak against Chikorita’s grass attacks plus whatever other Ground or Rock Pokémon we find. Cyndaquil will be resistant to the heat down there and Anthony and I are just plain strong.”
When they finished breakfast they marched off to Magma Cavern after a kiss goodbye from Ninetales. Construction would be going on while they were gone and would likely be done by the time they got back. It took them a few hours to get there but they finally did. It was easy to see why it was called Magma Cavern since there was a lot of volcanic rock all over the place. Inside they were attacked by a variety of Ground, Rock, Steel and Fire Pokémon with a few Poison types here and there. They made it past a Kangaskhan statue and then another floor before they saw something up ahead. It was Charizard and Tyranitar!
“Hey!” Nathaniel shouted. “Are you guys okay? Where’s Alakazam?”
“We’ll be okay.” Tyranitar said. “Alakazam is up ahead still fighting Groudon.”
“You guys are strong and our last hope.” Charizard said. “Go help him quick!”
Nathaniel nodded and signaled to his team. They ran forward and continued further into the dungeon and found Alakazam alone. He looked at them with a blank look in his eyes before he fell and then there was a bright flash of light. Alakazam was gone and in his place was Groudon. He gave one roar and the place began to heat up before Nathaniel signaled to attack. Chikorita got up close and charged something. Nathaniel rushed forward and when he attempted to use Force Palm, a sudden instinct overtook him and he ended up hitting Groudon with a fist that turned into Ice Punch. Anthony launched Shadow Ball after Shadow Ball while Cyndaquil hit him with as many Flamethrowers as he could. Groudon lifted one foot and then used Earthquake. Nathaniel leaped over the shockwave but his teammates were hit. They were getting up slowly but Nathaniel couldn’t go help them. He dodged a Slash from Groudon and then unleashed Aura Sphere. Groudon then tried to hit him with Fire Blast, but Nathaniel rolled under the attack and leaped upward to catch Groudon a kick to the chin that burst into flames for a Blaze Kick. Just as that happened, Chikorita launched her Solar Beam and blasted Groudon point blank. Groudon tottered for a moment and then fell with an earthshaking thud. There was another bright flash of light and Alakazam fell in front of them. The ground began shaking even more and Nathaniel suspected the cave was going to erupt. He rushed Alakazam out of there with his team and found Charizard and Tyranitar limping towards him. They grabbed hold of Alakazam and used their badge to escape so Nathaniel did the same.
They got Team ACT back into town and found the other teams were still getting ready to go after them. There was a massive amount of cheering when they walked in and the cheering grew louder as Nathaniel showed everyone in the crowd his brand new Gold Rank Rescue Team Badge. Alakazam called for everyone to be quiet at one point and everyone listened. They began to hear a faint voice in their heads and Nathaniel recognized the voice as that of Xatu.
“Can everyone hear me?” he asked. “I have devastating news. I can see into the future somewhat again and have discovered the source of the disasters. The morning star that has been seen for several days now is actually a meteor that is gaining speed towards our world. If it collides there will be nothing left alive on the planet!”
“Is there any way to stop it?” Nathaniel asked.
“There is a Pokémon who may be able to stop it if someone can reach him and warn him in time.” Xatu said. “His name is Rayquaza and he lives at the top of the Sky Tower. If I can have some help, I can forge a Teleport Gem to send one rescue team up there.”
“I’ll help forge it.” Alakazam said. “I also nominate Team Libra as the ones to go. My own team could barely make it through Magma Cavern to face Groudon. They made it through to beat him so they are the ones most likely to make it to Rayquaza.”
There was unanimous approval from the crowd and Nathaniel went home to tell Ninetales the news. The new base looked great but that barely registered compared to what just happened. Ninetales made sure they had a good dinner that night so they would be ready for the large task that lay ahead of them tomorrow.
Chapter 18
“You are nearing the end of your task Nathaniel.” Gardevoir said.
“Am I finally going to get the answers I want?” Nathaniel asked.
“Yes you are.” Gardevoir said.
“Okay then.” Nathaniel said. “How did I get here?”
“You fell asleep.” Gardevoir said.
“I don’t mean here in the dream, I meant here in the Pokémon world.” Nathaniel said.
“Exactly.” Gardevoir said. “You fell asleep and were brought here with your friend Anthony via a suppressed power. It was because the power was suppressed that only a portion of you came. Your consciousness was really the only thing that came. Your memories and other powers stayed behind.”
“So why did I end up here?” Nathaniel asked.
“You were actually called here through your power because you were needed to stop the destruction of this world. Anthony shared a bond with you and we felt he would help you immensely.”
“So my task is done when the meteor is destroyed?” Nathaniel asked.
“Yes and then you may return home.” Gardevoir answered.
“What about my team?” Nathaniel asked. “I couldn’t leave without them.”
“Then you may have to stay.” Gardevoir said sadly. “It will be your choice if you succeed.”
“Is there any way they can come with.” Nathaniel asked.
“There may be but I don’t know of any way they can.” Gardevoir said.
“Then I’ll try to find the way.” Nathaniel said. “You said only a portion of me came here. What about the rest of me?”
“He’s travelling with no idea that he has a piece of him missing. It seems you are a sort of copy of him packed into the power that brought you here. If your power were not suppressed, then you would actually be asleep in your world and have your full abilities here.”
“Thank you Gardevoir. That’s all I think I need to know.”
“Good luck Nathaniel.” Gardevoir said. “I pray you succeed.”
Nathaniel woke up and yawned. He was cuddling one of Ninetales’s tails again. He hoped she didn’t curse in her sleep and crawled out of the group. He suddenly went limp when he felt someone grab him gently by the scruff of the neck and carry him back towards the group. Ninetales then began bathing him with her tongue and Nathaniel just let her since it felt so relaxing. When she’d finished she rolled him over and changed his diaper which was soaked even more thanks to her bath. She then took care of the Anthony, Cyndaquil and Chikorita while Nathaniel had breakfast with each of his teammates joining him as Ninetales finished with them. When they were done with breakfast, Ninetales gave them one more lick goodbye with a wish for good luck and the team rushed to the Hill of the Ancients.
“Glad you made it Nathaniel.” Xatu said. “The meteor has a sort of gap between the field that causes disasters and the point where it will cause devastation before striking the planet. If you can reach Rayquaza in time, he’ll be able to destroy the meteor before it hits the planet and destroys it. Hopefully you get there before the meteor enters the atmosphere or your badge won’t be able to help you escape. Alakazam and I, along with two ghosts that said they know you, worked on this Teleport Gem last night. It should carry you to the Sky Tower. The tower is a mystery dungeon so the gem will not work inside. All it can do is get you to the entrance. Are you ready?”
“Yes we are Xatu.” Nathaniel said.
Xatu nodded and handed Nathaniel a glowing green gem. Nathaniel focused his thoughts to Sky Tower and he felt himself falling. He hit something soft and opened his eyes to see his team had landed with him on some clouds. Chikorita walked to the edge and turned greener when she saw how high they were. They turned around and saw the arched entrance to the dungeon and walked in. They made extensive use of their scopes and avoided as many Pokémon as they could. Nathaniel found an item that he decided to switch his Lum Band for. He checked his items and found several Huge Apples there so he was sure he’d be okay using his Mobile Scarf to walk through the walls and get directly to the stairs. Using that combination of items, they reached the top of the tower and Rayquaza immediately swooped down upon them.
“You are not welcome here land walkers!” Rayquaza shouted. “You have trespassed upon my domain and must pay!”
Before they could explain what was going on Rayquaza attacked with Dragon Claw. Nathaniel blocked it with Force Palm and then leaped at Rayquaza using Ice Punch. His team followed suit and after a long battle, Rayquaza was brought down. Rayquaza ate a seed it had and was fully healed. Just as he was about to attack with his full strength, the tower began shaking.
“How can there be an earthquake if we’re way up in the sky?” Chikorita asked.
“That’s no earthquake.” Rayquaza said. “Those are shockwaves, but where are they coming from?”
“Look up and you’ll see.” Cyndaquil said.
Everyone looked up and saw that the meteor was entering the atmosphere.
“That meteor could destroy the skies!” Rayquaza said.
“And the rest of the Pokémon world.” Anthony said. “That’s why we came. We need you to destroy it!”
Rayquaza thought for a moment and said, “If I use my Hyper Beam from here, you may not survive the blast.”
“We came here ready for that if need be.” Nathaniel said. “Do it Rayquaza.”
The rest of the team nodded and Rayquaza did as well. He focused his energies and fired his Hyper Beam straight into the air. All Nathaniel heard as he blacked out was an explosion and the screams of his team and his own.

| Chapter 19
When Nathaniel came to, he found himself lying down in his base. He tried to get up but found his limbs wouldn’t work right. Everything just felt weird as well. He tried to focus but instead fell asleep again.
“You succeeded Nathaniel.” Gardevoir said. “Well done.”
“So am I alive or am I dying?” Nathaniel asked. “And what about my teammates?”
“They all survived.” Gardevoir said smiling. “Alakazam found Anthony and Ekans and Medicham saved Cyndaquil and Chikorita. What surprised everyone in town was Gengar saving you.”
“Gengar saved me!?” Nathaniel asked in shock.
“He’s also one of the two ghosts who helped make the Teleport Gem.” Gardevoir said. “I was the other. I think he’s finally learned his lesson and is beginning to become a better soul because of the curse.”
“Well that’s a relief.” Nathaniel said. “So what are you here for now? Or was this just a congratulatory call?”
“The offer to return home still stands.” Gardevoir said.
“I still stand by finding another way home.” Nathaniel said. “When I can return home with my team, then I’ll go.”
“Then this is goodbye.” Gardevoir said. “I’ve guided you to the end of your task. Now you must find your own way. Farewell Nathaniel.”
As Gardevoir faded Nathaniel whispered, “Goodbye Gardevoir, and thank you.”
Nathaniel woke up again and found his limbs still felt weird. He couldn’t move them the way he wanted to. He looked around instead of trying to get up and saw Ninetales hovering over the rest of his team. She turned his way and smiled when she saw he was awake. She ran up to him and licked his face rapidly. Nathaniel giggled as she did so and was helpless to stop her.
“I’m glad you’re finally awake.” Ninetales said. “I hope you’ll forgive me but to make sure you relaxed enough to let your recovery move as quickly as possible, I performed a full nine tail curse on you.”
“Did you haff too?” Nathaniel lisped to his own surprise.
“Yes I did.” Ninetales said untapping his wet and messy diaper. “When you’ve physically recovered I’ll set all of you right again. But until then, enjoy your vacation as my babies.”
Nathaniel laughed and did just that.
Chapter 20
“So we can finally go on rescue missions again?” Nathaniel asked excitedly as Ninetales changed his diaper.
“Yes you can.” Ninetales laughed. “And it’s a good thing too. Absol can’t do all of the work. He needs a vacation of his own after supporting us for the past few weeks.”
“Can we start today?” Nathaniel asked.
“I suppose.” Ninetales said. “Just don’t go jumping off of towers that are thousands of feet in the sky again. It’s a wonder you survived the fall.”
“Don’t worry.” Nathaniel said. “We’ll only jump from towers hundreds of feet in the sky. Just kidding.”
“I suppose you have another Pokémon out there to thank then.” Ninetales said. “And apologize to.”
Nathaniel got up and stretched his newly strengthened limbs before running outside to check the bulletin. Many in the town waved to him, saluted, applauded, or just gave an admiring smile. They were all happy to see him up and about again. The crowd in front of the bulletin parted for him when he arrived and let him through to see the missions. One in particular caught his eye. It was an SOS mission. Nathaniel looked at it and saw it was to a place called Wish Cave. When he saw who was requesting the help, his jaw dropped in amazement. It was from Ekans and Medicham! Nathaniel grabbed it and ran back to the base. He found everyone sitting down to a breakfast of apples. Absol smiled at him and took the team badge off of the Mobile Scarf Nathaniel gave him and handed it to him.
“We’ve got an SOS guys.” Nathaniel said taking the badge. “We’re going to repay Medicham and Ekans by saving them from Wish Cave.”
“Be careful there.” Ninetales said. “Wish Cave is a tough place. The Pokémon there are such high level, you may feel you’re level one again.”
“I thought you became level one in that place.” Absol said.
“It used to be like that but something changed it a long time ago.” Ninetales said. “There’s only one place left that will reduce your level temporarily.”
“So let’s go guys.” Nathaniel said munching on an apple.
They headed to Wish Cave and Nathaniel could feel power emanating from the place. They walked in and plowed their way through to the stairs. They were exceedingly tired when they finally reached the bottom. Nathaniel looked around but didn’t see Medicham or Ekans. He did see a weird stone on the floor and picked it up. There was a crumbling sound and something fell from the ceiling.
“So sleepy.” A Pokémon said. “Don’t wanna wake up. Leave me alone!”
Then the Pokémon attacked them all with a Psychic burst and Nathaniel blacked out. He saw a bright light and got right back up. He was glad they had brought several Reviver Seeds and was ready to fight the Pokémon in front of him. He first hit it with Force Palm, then Blaze Kick, and finished it with the last linked attack Aura Sphere. The Pokémon wasn’t down yet, but the Flamethrower, Shadow Ball, and Razor Leaf that hit it didn’t help much. It then hit the team with another wave of Psychic and Nathaniel knew he couldn’t take another hit. He used his link attack again and fortunately paralyzed the Pokémon with Force Palm and left a burn with Blaze Kick. His Aura Sphere hit at the same time as his teammate’s attacks. The Pokémon still wasn’t down so they hit it with another barrage of attacks. It still wasn’t down and it used Wish. Fortunately the burn took effect and finally brought the Pokémon down. The stone Nathaniel found suddenly started to vibrate and the Pokémon got back up.
“The song!” it yawned. “I’m wide awake now. Hiya! I’m Jirachi! That thing you’ve got there is the Wish Stone. You can use it to make a wish from me and I’ll grant it. It just has to be something physical like any item you may desire. Plus it has to be real.”
“Can you bring us the two we came here to save?” Nathaniel asked.
“You came here looking for someone, not to get a wish granted?” Jirachi asked.
“Yes. There was a Medicham and an Ekans.” Nathaniel answered.
“Uh-oh!” Jirachi said. “That wasn’t a dream then. Don’t worry! You can have them back for free.”
Medicham and Ekans appeared from a flash of light. They groaned and eased into an easy sleep.
“They came and disturbed me while I slept.” Jirachi said. “They didn’t stand a chance against me. They must have come wanting a wish as well. So you still have a wish, what would you like?”
“I really don’t know.” Nathaniel said. “Is there a way you can make a way for me to get to my home with my team?”
“I’m sorry.” Jirachi frowned. “I can see what you’re thinking of. I can’t bend time and space like that unfortunately. I can’t give you the knowledge of how to do so either. Can you think of anything else?”
“No I can’t.” Nathaniel said.
“Well then let me try something that may help.” Jirachi said. “One of the wishes you could have asked for was a general ‘something good’. It gives something pretty random so I’ll try that. That way you get some reward for having come all this way.”
“Okay.” Nathaniel said.
Jirachi began focusing and looked startled. “Oh my! I’m getting a big bunch of power here! You’re going to get something really good!”
There was a flash of light and Nathaniel looked around expectantly. Jirachi laughed and said, “You’ll see what it is tomorrow. Your wish will arrive at your base. There’s the way out over there.”
Jirachi then disappeared and the cave wall opened to reveal a warp point for the team to exit back to Pokémon Square with Medicham and Ekans. The duo didn’t have anything to reward Nathaniel with other than their thanks so the team returned home to Ninetales and after dinner and a change went to sleep.

Chapter 21
Nathaniel woke up and stretched his arms. He again was amazed at how much stronger he felt after his recovery. Ninetales smiled at him when he looked at her and licked him in a way that was slightly familiar. He hugged her quickly and walked outside to check the mailbox. What he saw nearly made him overflow his diaper. Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, Groudon and Rayquaza were all in front of his base.
“Please tell me you guys aren’t here for a rematch.” Nathaniel said nervously.
“Of course not.” Zapdos said. “We all were brought here by some strange gust of wind. When we got here we felt like we were supposed to be here.”
“I think it was my doing.” Jirachi said coming out from behind Groudon. “I think it was my ‘something good’ wish. I told you I felt a big surge of energy and you would get something good. I just didn’t realize it was going to be the six of us.”
“Wait a minute!” Nathaniel said. “Are you saying that the six of you are here to join my rescue team?”
“You don’t have a problem with that do you?” Groudon said speaking for the first time Nathaniel could remember.
“Of course not!” Nathaniel said quickly. “It’s just a big surprise is all. Plus I don’t know how I’m going to house all of you.”
“You don’t have to worry about that.” Jirachi said. “All of us come with our own friend areas. If you need us, you can find us there.”
“Okay then.” Nathaniel said smiling. “If ever we need your help we’ll call on you guys.”
“You may need either my help or Groudon’s.” Rayquaza said. “The meteor has awakened Kyogre and you may want either of our abilities to help you defeat him.”
“You may be able to beat Kyogre on your own as you have defeated each of us with your team’s help.” Groudon said. “But if you want, we’ll come along. Just be warned that if we do, your badge will only cover one of us, yourself, and one other. Rayquaza and I are so much bigger that we take up as much room as several other Pokémon. The badge covers up to four Pokémon and up to a total of six size slots. Rayquaza and I cover four while the birds here cover two each.”
“I’ll go discuss it with my team.” Nathaniel said.
Nathaniel walked back inside and told his awakened and breakfasting team what had happened. Anthony got a thoughtful look in his eyes and then got up.
“I have an idea.” He said. “Instead of cancelling Kyogre’s power, let’s use it!”
“How do you figure?” Nathaniel asked.
“We leave Cyndaquil and Chikorita behind.” Anthony said. “Sorry guys but you both will be affected by Kyogre’s ability. We bring the two of us, plus Zapdos. Zapdos can use the rain to his advantage to attack Kyogre. Then we can either bring Articuno for additional backup or Jirachi.”
“What about me?” the young Absol asked.
“You did so many rescue missions for us that I think you should still be on vacation.” Nathaniel said. “I think we’ll bring Jirachi. Ice isn’t a very effective element against Water so Jirachi would be a better choice. Are the two of you okay with being left behind?”
“Sure we are.” Cyndaquil said. “I think we could actually go to the Makuhita Dojo in a few groups to train while you’re gone. Maybe we should make that a requirement to be on the team. You’ll have to have permission to just sit around waiting. If you’re not selected for a mission on any day, you must do something constructive for the team. Whether it’s just doing errands or training in the dojo, you have to do something.”
“I like it.” Chikorita said.
“I don’t want to make my team unhappy though.” Nathaniel said. “So I think it should just be an errand or one try at the dojo each day. I’ll get the approval from the rest of the team first though.”
“Sounds fair to me.” Ninetales said. “You, Anthony and Cyndaquil are the ones registered as Team Leader so you make the rules but I like that you are making the rules fair.”
“I’ll support you on that.” Anthony said.
“Same goes for me.” Cyndaquil said. “What do you think of the new rule Chikorita?”
“It’s a good idea in my book.” She said. “It’s nice that Nathaniel is willing to get the opinion from the rest of the team as well. What about you Absol?”
“Sounds like a plan to me.” Absol said. “I just hope the legendaries go for it.”
Nathaniel nodded and walked out the door. He explained what had been decided and what was to be voted on.
“Not just because I’m going on a mission toady,” Jirachi began. “But also because I think it is a truly good idea that I approve of your decision.”
“I can go for it.” Groudon said. “And that’s an excellent idea to use Kyogre’s power to your own advantage.”
“I concur.” Rayquaza said. “I’ll go for it as well. That way I don’t grow weak sitting around waiting to go on a mission for the team. I think I’ll partner up with someone when I go to the dojo. The question is whether to partner with Moltres to negate my Ice weakness, or to let his power be enhanced by Groudon’s power.”
“Either’s fine with me.” Nathaniel said. “But what do you three think of the idea?”
“It is a wise and reasonable decision.” Articuno said. “Both your choice of team and rules.”
“I like the reasoning behind it.” Moltres said. “It’s very logical.”
“I may as well make it unanimous.” Zapdos said. “It’s a good plan anyway.”
“Then let’s get moving.” Nathaniel said joyfully. “You four remaining legends hit the dojo at least once. Whatever you do with the rest of the day is fine. Cyndaquil is in charge while Anthony and I are gone, so if you need anything, ask him.”
Zapdos and Jirachi got the Specs from Cyndaquil and Chikorita before the team left and Zapdos flew them to the Stormy Sea. He took a dive into the water and they found themselves in an extremely wet dungeon. Nathaniel and Anthony striped off their now soaking diapers and decided to leave them off since they’d only get them wet again. They continued into the dungeon and to no surprise encountered many Water Pokémon. None of them were the legendary Pokémon they were trying to find however. It wasn’t until they reached a floor that was pitch black that Nathaniel felt they may have reached their destination.
“WHO COMES TO MY DOMAIN?”
“Yep, we found Kyogre.” Nathaniel said. “We are Team Libra.”
“WAS IT YOU WHO DISTURBED MY SLUMBER?” Kyogre asked as the floor began to glow with red lines. “ARE YOU THE ONES WHO AWAKENED MY ANCIENT FOE GROUDON? MY REST WAS NOT TO BE DISTURBED! YOU SHALL PAY!”
Nathaniel sighed and thought, “Here we go again!” before dodging a Hydro Pump from Kyogre. Zapdos was trying to get close so he could attack so Nathaniel tried to give him some cover. Anthony and Jirachi stood back using Helping Hand to increase his power and Nathaniel let Kyogre have it with several Aura Spheres. Kyogre kept blocking them with Hydro Pump until Zapdos finally got above it to use Thunder. Kyogre turned to attack Zapdos but was hit from behind by Aura Sphere, Shadow Ball and Psychic. Kyogre turned again and was hit by Thunder once more. Kyogre then charged forward to try to stop the barrage of attacks, but Nathaniel leapt in front of him and used Force Palm. Kyogre stopped in his tracks and looked blankly at Nathaniel.
“You didn’t wake me, did you?” Kyogre asked.
“No we didn’t.” Nathaniel answered. “There was a meteor that caused an earthquake to awaken Groudon. It also was what woke you up. We came here in case you were as mad about being woken up as Groudon was. We didn’t want you destroying anything so we were ready to fight if need be.”
“I thank you for stopping me then.” Kyogre said. “You are a truly noble rescue team. Please allow me to join your ranks.”
“Are you serious?” Nathaniel asked. “Of course you can join but I should warn you that Groudon and Rayquaza have already joined me if that makes any difference.”
“If you have mastered them then it makes no difference to me.” Kyogre said. “If ever you need me, you’ll find me in my friend area.”
Kyogre teleported out of the dungeon and Nathaniel smiled as he left the dungeon with his team as well.
Chapter 22
The next morning the Team received an unexpected visitor.
“What are you doing here Gengar?” Nathaniel asked the ghost Pokémon.
“I’m here to see Ninetales.” He answered.
“What do you want?” Ninetales asked flatly.
“I want to release Gardevoir from her curse.” Gengar said.
“How do you know Gardevoir is still under a curse?” Ninetales and Nathaniel asked at the same time.
“I saw her when I helped to forge the Teleport Gem.” Gengar said.
“Why do you want to release her?” Ninetales asked.
“I want to right the wrong I did so long ago.” Gengar said.
“Then you have a hard journey ahead of you Gengar.” Ninetales said handing him something. “This is the Nine Tail Crest. If you take it to Murky Cave, you can release Gardevoir if you can reach the bottom.”
“Then I’ll need some help.” Gengar said. “Murky Cave is filled with Ghost Pokémon and I’ll need help getting past all of them. Medicham and Ekans are still recovering from that little adventure they never told me about so I’m on my own. Will Team Libra consider me for an Escort Mission?”
“I’ll do it for Gardevoir.” Nathaniel said. “As far as I’m concerned we’re even at the moment. Your saving my life made up for the trouble you caused. Now I wonder who to bring with me.”
“I’m not going with.” Ninetales said. “I have a few things to do today. Take Absol and Anthony. They’ll be good in that dungeon.”
Nathaniel nodded and had breakfast before getting Anthony and Absol up to speed and heading off to Murky Cave with Gengar. The dungeon was easy until they got to the seventh floor. That was when the Shedinja started showing up until the twelfth floor. The Shuppet from floor ten through fourteen had the nasty habit of popping out through the walls. The Misdreavus from floor thirteen through nineteen were a pain as well. Nathaniel took care of the Shedinja with Blaze Kick and Anthony drew the Shuppet out of the walls before using Shadow Ball. Absol made sure Gengar was protected the entire time and used Bite on any Misdreavus that came close. They finally reached the twentieth floor and Gengar placed the Nine Tail Crest in an indent on a pedestal. Gengar suddenly stopped moving and Nathaniel blacked out.
“Welcome back Nathaniel.” Familiar voices said. “We sensed you near and feel Gengar trying to break a curse. We want to know why but from you.”
“Who are you exactly?” Nathaniel asked.
“We sent Gardevoir to you and you probably heard us whispering in the background.” The voices said. “So why is Gengar trying to break this curse?”
“He wants to free Gardevoir.” Nathaniel said.
“Why does he want to free Gardevoir?”
“It’s the right thing to do.” Nathaniel answered.
“That’s how you’d feel if you were rescuing Gardevoir.” The voices laughed. “That and you’re grateful for her helping you.”
“Gengar feels the same way.” Nathaniel said.
“Are you so sure of that?” the voices laughed again. “Come on now. Be honest. Why do you really think Gengar is here to break the curse on Gardevoir?”
“To repay a debt.” Nathaniel sighed.
“That is therefore for selfish reasons.” The voices said. “We cannot break the curse for that reason. And no you cannot break the curse because you are not responsible for her curse.”
“Your right, I am responsible.” Gengar said from somewhere. “I’ve learned from my own curse and truly believe I can become a better being. I won’t be able to though knowing Gardevoir is still suffering because of me.”
“She’s not suffering.” The voices said. “She is content with her role as a guide.”
“Well she also has been denied a life because of my own decision.” Gengar said. “I want her to have the opportunity to live the life she should have had if it weren’t for me.”
There was a bright flash of light and Nathaniel was awake again. An unconscious Gardevoir was lying in front of the pedestal.
“Congratulations Gengar!” Ninetales said walking up to them. “You freed Gardevoir from her curse. And the last bits of my curse have fallen from you.”
“What are you doing here Ninetales?” Nathaniel spluttered. “And what do you mean the last bits of Gengar’s curse?”
“The last thing that was supposed to happen with the curse I laid on Gengar so long ago was his own transformation into a better being.” Gardevoir said. “That was something he had to do on his own, and he never would have been happy if he hadn’t.”
“I thank you Team Libra for helping me.” Gengar said smiling. “You can return home. I brought my own rescue team badge to get home from here.”
“You and Gardevoir take care of each other Gengar.” Nathaniel said shaking his hand.
Everyone smiled as Nathaniel raised his shining badge and when they got home, they saw the badge had increased to Platinum Rank.

| Chapter 23
Nathaniel was walking through town the next day. There were surprisingly no missions today so he was looking for something to do. He saw Shiftry had drawn a crowd so he went to see what was going on.
“It had to be the Buried Relic!” Shiftry said. “There’s no other explanation for Regirock being there, after all of the treasure I found there.”
“So where is all of this treasure you found Shiftry?” one of the Kecleon brothers asked. “Or was that as imaginary as your Regirock?”
“That’s a bit harsh Kecleon.” Nathaniel said stepping up.
“Well he doesn’t have any proof of his little journey.” Kecleon said. “No items. No Regirock. And he can’t even tell us where this dungeon is!”
“I’ll find it and bring back the proof then.” Nathaniel said.
“WHAT!?” several Pokémon including Shiftry shouted at the same time.
“Nathaniel, these guys even have me starting to doubt my own story.” Shiftry said. “The Buried Relic has been a story for who knows how long. I’m starting to wonder if it may have just been a dream and I was just KO’ed from behind by some Rock attack. Don’t risk your own reputation because of me.”
“It wouldn’t hurt to just go take a look for it.” Nathaniel said. “If I can come back with proof it would prove to everyone here that you were right and they owe you a massive apology for doubting your credibility.”
“Mind if I tag along then?” Shiftry asked. “I’d like another shot if we can prove the Buried Relic’s existence.”
“Sure!” Nathaniel said. “You may find something familiar to help us find it.”
Nathaniel walked back to base with Shiftry and explained the situation to the team. Anthony immediately leaped up to go with and was followed interestingly enough by Ninetales.
“I’d like a shot at a mission for once.” She said. “I’m sure you three can take care of yourselves for one day.”
Everyone nodded and Nathaniel became very excited. He would get to see Ninetales in action! After one last check of everyone, Ninetales nodded and they took off towards a spot on Cyndaquil’s map that seemed like a likely place for Buried Relic. When they got to the general area, they found Gengar with his team and Gardevoir.
“What are you guys doing here?” Nathaniel asked.
“Hello to you too Nathaniel.” Gardevoir laughed. “We’re headed for Unown Relic to see what we can find there. What brings all of you out here?”
“We’re looking for Buried Relic.” Nathaniel said.
“HAH!” Gengar laughed. “No offense Nathaniel but you guys are wasting your time on a myth. The place of untold treasure guarded by a mirage and his three servants doesn’t exist.”
“Actually it does.” Gardevoir said. “As as a spirit, I did a lot of wandering and I once did find Buried Relic. I’m not sure where it is exactly but I can tell you it does exist and it is somewhere in the ruins nearby. You just have to find the entrance if you want to explore it.”
“Thanks Gardevoir!” Nathaniel said running towards the ruins with his team. “Good luck in the Unown Relic guys!”
They reached the ruins and looked around. Shiftry knew the place was familiar but couldn’t find the entrance. They took a rest and Nathaniel leaned against the wall.
“Well that didn’t work.” Nathaniel said.
“What didn’t?” Shiftry asked.
“In some stories, usually when people rest after looking for some secret entrance, someone will lean against a wall and cave it in to reveal the entrance they were looking for.” Nathaniel answered.
“That’s weird.” Shiftry said just before he fell through a hole that opened up. “Maybe not so weird!” He shouted up. “I’m okay! I found the entrance!”
Nathaniel laughed and jumped into the hole with Ninetales and Anthony. They walked into the Mystery Dungeon and were immediately set upon by a Ghastly. Ninetales jumped forward and used Roar. Nathaniel watched as Ghastly flew backwards through the wall and didn’t come back. They found the staircase and every Pokémon they saw fled in terror on seeing Ninetales.
“I think they’re scared of you Ninetales.” Nathaniel said jokingly.
“And they should be.” Ninetales said nuzzling him. “Not only do they fear the curses I bear, but they also recognize a protective and vengeful mother.”
“Mother!?” Anthony asked shocked.
“I care for you cuties as if you were my own litter of Vulpix.” Ninetales said. “If any were to even dare try to harm you, I would quickly discourage them from any further action.”
Nathaniel shuddered at the second part despite his smile. He was glad Ninetales was on his side. They continued to walk through the dungeon and Shiftry shuddered when they reached another floor. Nathaniel looked at him quizzically.
“Regirock is nearby.” Was all Shiftry said.
They walked forward more and Regirock dropped from the ceiling.
“INTURDER ALERT! ELIMINATE! INTRUDER ALERT! ELIMINATE!” a voice said from seemingly everywhere at once. Nathaniel immediately cupped his hands together and thrust a fully powered Aura Sphere at Regirock who had fired a Hyper Beam at them. The attacks collided and exploded. Anthony charged forward from the smoke and slammed Regirock back with Iron Tail. Shiftry ran around and yelled, “Payback time!” before hitting Regirock with Giga Drain. Just as Regirock was about to attack Shiftry, Ninetales leaped up from underground and knocked Regirock backwards into another Aura Sphere from Nathaniel. Regirock stopped in midair before disappearing and leaving behind a small red pyramid. Nathaniel picked it up and smiled.
“Now we have proof at least.” Nathaniel said. “But it may not be enough. Let’s move onward and get even more!”
Everyone nodded and stepped onto a warp pad that had appeared and continued through the dungeon once more. The Pokémon got a bit bolder in the lower levels. Every once in awhile they’d encounter a few Wobbuffet who were either very brave or stupid, but they were no match for Ninetales. A few whacks from her sent them packing. They finally reached a floor with a similar feel to Regirock’s chamber. When they stepped forward, Regice fell from the ceiling.
“INTRUDER ALERT! EXTERMINATE! INTRUDER ALERT! EXTERMINATE!” a slightly different voice said.
Regice fired an Ice Beam at Nathaniel and Ninetales leaped forward using Flamethrower to block it. Anthony used Helping Hand and Nathaniel used Ninetales’s tails as a springboard to leap into the air and hit Regice with Aura Sphere. Regice stopped using Ice Beam when the attack hit and then Ninetales’s attack hit. All Shiftry did then was hit Regice once and Regice fell before disappearing and leaving behind a blue pyramid. Nathaniel picked up the blue pyramid and compared it to the red one Regirock dropped.
“I’ll bet there’s a third of these.” Nathaniel said.
“No.” Anthony said sarcastically. “Ya think?”
“Yes I do.” Nathaniel said pointedly ignoring Anthony’s sarcasm. “And I’ll bet that either the three are keys to something, or they combine into something. Let’s look for Registeel. He’ll have the last one I bet.”
“No! Ya th…umph.” Anthony began before having his mouth covered by one of Ninetales’s tails.
“Before we continue, do either of you need a change?” Ninetales asked.
Nathaniel looked and saw that he had involuntarily wet himself when he leaped over the cold Ice Beam attack. Anthony was dry so Shiftry awkwardly turned away as Ninetales took care of Nathaniel. She tickled him a bit when she finished, eliciting several giggles from Nathaniel.
“Hey!” Nathaniel said suddenly. “Did you curse me?”
“Nope.” Ninetales laughed. “I can tickle just about anyone without the tickle curse on my own. As for that giggling, you did that on your own.”
Nathaniel twitched his tail in embarrassment at that happening in front of Shiftry and he said, “Don’t worry about it. What happens here stays between us. I owe you too much to go blabbing about something like that.”
Nathaniel relaxed and they stepped on another warp pad to lower floors. There were more Pokémon willing to attack the team now. Most still ran away from the group but there were enough to make the team more cautious. Before they went down another flight of steps, Nathaniel Blaze Kicked a Shedinja that was about to attack Shiftry with Leech Life.
“I guess I owe you even more now.” Shiftry said.
“Not this time Shiftry.” Nathaniel said. “We’re a team here so you don’t owe me a thing for that one.”
Shiftry smiled and the team went down the stairs to another room. Nathaniel took one step forward and Registeel dropped down. Nathaniel didn’t give the voice a chance to speak and attacked Registeel with Aura Sphere as Ninetales hit him with Fire Blast. Anthony hit him with Dig and Shiftry hit Registeel with Fake Out. As Registeel flinched, Nathaniel attacked him up close with a linked Blaze Kick and Force Palm. Registeel froze and disappeared, leaving behind a silver pyramid. Nathaniel picked it up and it jumped into the air along with the other two pyramids. They began circling in the air and got closer and closer until they merged and became a single box. Nathaniel gently set the box in the toolbox and nodded to his team before they stepped on another warp pad to the next floor.
They continued down fighting several strong Pokémon along the way. Golem were the most common but Pokémon like Haunter and Pupitar showed up as well. None of them showed the slightest fear of Ninetales. Nathaniel KO’ed a Golem before looking at the stairs.
“Let’s hope this is the last staircase.” Nathaniel panted. “We can’t take much more of this. This dungeon is what, 95 floors now?”
“Ninety-eight to be exact.” Anthony huffed as he Iron Tailed a Pupitar. “Let’s get a move on before more Pokémon show up.”
They went down the next staircase and came to a large room. Nathaniel felt the toolbox shaking and opened it up. Music began playing and Nathaniel pulled out the small box. The music grew louder and Nathaniel felt as if he were being watched. He looked around and saw the air rippling in the shape of some Pokémon along the wall. It moved slowly towards them and then the Pokémon appeared suddenly, revealing itself to be the mirage Pokémon, Mew.
“Hello there.” Nathaniel said smiling.
“Hiya!” Mew said excitedly. “Wow it’s been a long time since I’ve had visitors. Last one I remember was a Lucario. So what brings you all the way down here?”
“Shiftry here found this place and was ridiculed when he told others about it after being defeated by Regirock.” Nathaniel said. “We came to prove he was right and were hoping to find some great treasure that was supposed to be in this place. All we have though is this music box.”
Mew giggled and said, “The treasure is the treasure of friendship. It would be considered a great treasure to be friends with a legendary Pokémon like me wouldn’t it?”
“Yes it would.” Nathaniel said. “Since you seem to like this music box, let me give it to you as a gift from a friend.”
Mew took the music box and smiled. “Thank you! As a gift in return, I’ll come with you to prove Shiftry was right.”
Suddenly the whole room shook violently. Everyone was knocked off their feet and there were cracks all over the place. Mew looked extremely worried and Nathaniel got a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
“What’s wrong Mew?” Nathaniel asked.
“My brother is stirring.” Mew said. “He’s supposed to be the ultimate fighting machine and in his slumber, his psychic power is increased a hundred fold. If he’s stirring in his sleep instead of just waking up, the world could be in for a big disaster.”
“Maybe he’s just having a bad dream.” Anthony said. “We’ll have to go wake him up. Where can we find him?”
“Hold on a second Anthony.” Nathaniel said. “I think it’s going to be hard to wake a legendary Pokémon. We’ll need to find a specific way to do it. Plus we need to find out what’s disturbing him anyway instead of rushing in blind.”
“He’s right.” Mew said. “My brother won’t stir easily so he should be fine for a few days at least before he stirs again.”
“Let’s get out of here in case there’s an aftershock.” Nathaniel said. Mew grabbed onto him and Nathaniel raised his badge and the team escaped from the dungeon.

| Chapter 24
Nathaniel woke up around dawn to the sound of some explosion outside. Ninetales was awake from it as well and waited while Nathaniel walked outside. As soon as Nathaniel stepped onto the path outside the small wall that surrounded his base, something zoomed past him at a speed that made him spin around several times before he stopped.
“What the heck was that?” Nathaniel thought. “Ugh! Too tired to figure it out now. I’ll check it out in the morning.”
Nathaniel woke up for the second time that morning to something poking him in the side. He looked at whoever it was and found big blue eyes two centimeters from his face. Nathaniel jumped back and landed on Ninetales, causing her to give a sharp yelp in surprise. Everyone woke up and Mew just floated there giggling.
“He’s pretty jumpy isn’t he?” Mew asked still giggling.
“What’s the big idea waking me up three hours before our base opens for business?” Nathaniel asked.
“I just wanted to play.” Mew said. “It’s been very exciting since I arrived in town and proved Shiftry right. I just wanted to share the fun of investigating a robbery at the Kecleon Store with someone.”
“KECLEON WAS ROBBED!?” everyone shouted at once.
“His little brother was.” Mew said. “The one with the wares store. A whole bunch of TMs are gone.”
Everyone ran outside with Mew to the town square. Everyone was out there, some still yawning, and trying to figure out who it was that took Kecleon’s stuff. Kecleon ran up to Nathaniel when he saw them arriving.
“Thank goodness you’re awake!” He said. “I’d like at least a Gold Rank Rescue Team to find out who is responsible for this. Will you take the mission for my little brother? I’ll be glad to provide a reward.”
“Give us a little info and we sure will.” Nathaniel said.
“All we know is that it was some blue Pokémon and it took off incredibly fast.” Kecleon said.
Nathaniel remembered the events from earlier and nodded. “I’ve got something to work with at least. I’ll assemble my team and give you my progress report by the end of the day.”
“Thank you very much.” Kecleon said.
Nathaniel walked back to base and turned to his team. “I know which way the thief went. He went out of town into the wild lands. I have an idea of someone who may have seen which way the thief went afterward. I know you’re coming with Anthony, but I’d like one other to come as well.”
“I’ll come!” Mew said excitedly.
“You sure you want to Mew?” Nathaniel asked.
“Sure I am!” Mew said happily. “That’s why I joined your team, so I can go on adventures.”
“When did you join us?” Anthony asked.
“Just now.” Mew said. “So who are we going to go ask?”
Nathaniel smiled at how Mew forced himself into the team and then said, I think he’ll be somewhere near Tiny Woods. Let’s go guys!”
“Not so fast!” Ninetales said catching him by the back of his diaper. “I still need to change you and you’re not going anywhere without breakfast.”
Nathaniel crossed his arms and pouted, even though everyone knew he was kidding. Ninetales dragged him inside by the diaper with him still crossing his arms and made the pout disappear with a tickle curse. She stopped tickling him long enough to get him into a new diaper before tickling him again. She changed Anthony and allowed them to take breakfast to go. When they’d left the town Mew began laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Nathaniel asked.
“I like your friend Ninetales.” Mew said. “She’s funny. It’s so cool how she can tickle someone with her tails like that.”
“She might tickle you if you stay at the base.” Anthony chuckled wickedly.
“Fun as that would be, I think I’ll just stay at Final Island.” Mew said. “She can come tickle me there though!”
They reached the entrance to Tiny Woods just as Caterpie came crawling out. He was just about to go back in when Nathaniel called out his name.
“What’s up Nathaniel?” Caterpie asked.
“I was wondering if you saw a blue Pokémon fly by earlier this morning?” Nathaniel asked.
“So I’m not going crazy!” Caterpie said. “I saw some blue blur but it went by too fast for me to see what it was. It flew over towards Northern Range. You guys chasing after it? I’d like to come with if you don’t mind.”
“What about your nanny?” Nathaniel asked.
“I drove her to early retirement.” Caterpie said. “I’m on my own now and loving it!”
“If you’re on your own, why practice in Tiny Woods?” Nathaniel asked. “You can practice in other dungeons now.”
“Call it a force of habit.” Caterpie said. “By the way, you should be getting a letter soon. I’m actually my own rescue team now but it’s lonely without a team. I put in a request to merge a team and join yours.”
“I’ll be happy to have you then.” Nathaniel said shaking the end of his tail. “Let’s get going to Northern Range then!”
They headed for the mountain range and entered the dungeon when they found it. Nathaniel immediately wished he hadn’t brought Caterpie for this mission. Flying Pokémon were everywhere! Mew and Anthony focused on taking them down while Nathaniel and Caterpie got out of the room and headed for the stairs. When Nathaniel entered the room with the stairs, several flying Pokémon dropped from the ceiling. It was a Monster House! Nathaniel used Wide Slash right away and KO’ed three of them. Caterpie used Fire Blast to hit the only flying Pokémon left that was close to Nathaniel. Nathaniel ate a few Quick Seeds he had and ran for the stairs, leaving the flying Pokémon who blinked wondering where he went. The team avoided most of the other flying Pokémon they saw in the dungeon until they reached the top. That was when they found the flying Pokémon they were looking for, who was actually a Psychic and Dragon Pokémon.
“Who are you?” the Pokémon asked.
“I am Nathaniel of Team Libra.” Nathaniel answered. “I’m here to get back the TMs that we have reason to believe you stole Latios.”
“I don’t know how you know my name, but I can’t return those TMs.” Latios said. “Now leave me alone.”
“We can’t do that Latios.” Nathaniel said. “Now either return them, or come with us to face punishment for theft.”
“NO!” Latios shouted as he blew Nathaniel backwards with Psychic. Anthony launched Shadow Ball at Latios and Caterpie charged forward using Megahorn. Latios dodged both attacks, only to be hit by Mew’s Ancient Power. Mew sped up and hit Latios again with Mega Punch. Nathaniel charged forward and attacked with Ice Punch while Latios attacked with Dragon Claw. The attacks blocked each other, so Nathaniel used Blaze Kick with a back flip and caught Latios underneath the chin. He used Recover, and was hit afterward by Shadow Ball and Megahorn from behind. Mew then slapped him with Iron Tail and Latios dropped.
“No!” Latios said trying to raise himself with his hands. “My si-si-sister!”
Latios collapsed and the team rushed forward. Anthony got under one wing and Mew another. Caterpie leveled his head and Nathaniel raised the badge to appear in Pokémon Square.
Chapter 25
Latios woke slowly to find himself surrounded by Nathaniel’s team, the Kecleon brothers, and Alakazam. Alakazam had been called by Nathaniel for his wisdom to give Latios a fair hearing. Latios tried to get up, only to find his limbs weakened by one of Ninetales’s curses. He looked around in a panic and kept trying to get up, but Nathaniel put a paw on his shoulder comfortingly.
“Kecleon, before you decide to punish Latios, I think you should hear what he has to say.” Nathaniel said.
“HEAR WHAT HE HAS TO SAY!?” Kecleon spluttered.
“Yes!” Alakazam said. “He should have the opportunity to explain himself to you before you decide to punish him.”
“He’d better have a good reason for robbing my little brother!” Kecleon said angrily.
“Please tell us why you robbed them Latios.” Nathaniel said. “Before you passed out, I felt a lot of worry for someone coming from you and you mentioned your sister.”
“Yes.” Latios said. “I needed the TMs so I could go and rescue my sister Latias. We were flying and a falling rock hit her wing. She fell into Pitfall Valley.”
Anthony and Nathaniel looked at everyone in confusion. They all were staring at Latios in shock. Nathaniel asked, “Will someone please elaborate on what Anthony and I are missing?”
“Pitfall Valley is said to be inescapable.” Alakazam said. “So you planned on going in after her and becoming trapped yourself?”
“If I couldn’t get her out, at least she wouldn’t be alone.” Latios said.
“Do you think your sister would have wanted that?” Alakazam asked. “You’re in luck that we have Team Libra here. They possess something that can get them out of Pitfall Valley after they get in and find your sister. You do still have the Teleport Gem, do you not?”
“Yes we do.” Nathaniel said holding it up. “But it was broken in the blast on top of Sky Tower.”
Alakazam looked and said, “It won’t get you back to Cloud Tower, but it certainly has enough power to get Latias out of Pitfall Valley. You can use your own badge to escape. Now you’ve heard Latios’s defense for his actions Kecleon. What do you have to say in return?”
“With a story like that, how could I hold a grudge against him.” The younger Kecleon said. “After all, I’m sure my brother would do the same for me.”
“Absolutely.” Kecleon said. “No punishment, but if you don’t mind, repay us for the merchandise when you can. As for you Team Libra, you still will get your reward. How does free diapers for life sound?”
“Fine by me.” Nathaniel said. “Thank you Kecleon.”
“I will repay you when I can.” Latios said still trying to get up. “Why am I so weak?”
“You need to recover after that battle.” Ninetales said. “You can rest at our base until Nathaniel gets back with your sister.”
“But I have to go with!” Latios cried still unsuccessfully trying to get up.
“You can count on Nathaniel.” Ninetales said laying a few of her tails over the now sobbing Latios. “You’re in no shape to help him and would only be a hindrance if you went with. Come on now.”
Latios, with tears in his eyes turned to Nathaniel. “Go on Latios. I’ll have your sister back in no time. Go with Ninetales please.”
Latios nodded sadly, but with hope in his eyes. Ninetales lifted her curse just enough to let Latios float slowly with her towards the base. Nathaniel looked to the team who had helped him in the Northern Range and nodded to them. They all took off down the path to the wild lands and towards Pitfall Valley. When they got there, Nathaniel was a bit hesitant to go in. He braced himself, hoping the Gem and Badge would work and rushed into the dungeon with his team close behind.
“Sonuva!” Nathaniel swore when they stepped right into a monster house filled with more Flying Pokémon. Nathaniel looked at his feet when he felt something and looked at the TM he found. He smiled and learned the attack, waiting for the first Flying Pokémon to reach him. It was a Swellow that got hit by Nathaniel’s new Rock Slide attack. Nathaniel didn’t have time to celebrate or look to his team when three more flying Pokémon swooped down upon him. He used Wide Slash again and KO’ed them before firing an Aura Sphere at an Aerodactyl that was bearing down upon him. The room was finally clear and Nathaniel took a step towards the stairs.
“YAAGH!” Nathaniel yelled as he fell through the pitfall trap he stepped on. He winced when he landed and looked around. He didn’t see any stairs until he looked at his own feet. His team appeared right behind him thanks to the power of the badge and Nathaniel walked down the stairs. Nathaniel apparently had hit a stroke of luck and either landed on the stairs when he reached another floor, or found it in the room he appeared in. The team finally reached the bottom and found Latias hiding in some brush.
“We’re here to rescue you.” Nathaniel said to the scared legendary. “Can you move? Your brother said a falling rock broke your wing.”
“My wing still hurts but I can move at least.” Latias said. “You know my big brother Latios?”
“Yes.” Nathaniel said. “He got in a fight and was too weak to come himself so we came instead. So how did a rock fall on your wing?”
“I don’t know.” Latias said. “My brother and I were just flying and we heard an explosion. Then a giant rock fell from the sky and I ducked aside so it hit only my wing instead of me.”
Nathaniel stood there in shock. Anthony was silent as well. Caterpie guessed what it may have been but Mew was confused. “What’s going on?” Mew asked.
“I know what hit Latias here.” Nathaniel said. “We had to go and get Rayquaza to destroy a meteor. I’m thinking when he destroyed it a fragment of it hit Latias in the wing.”
“It was a really weird rock too.” Latias said. “It felt like there was something inside it. Something just plain strange.”
“We’ll talk about it later I guess.” Nathaniel said. “Let’s get you back to your brother now.”
Nathaniel used the Teleport Gem to get Latias out of the Dungeon and then escaped with his team. When they got back to Pokémon Square, Nathaniel waved goodbye to Caterpie and Mew as they went to their friend areas and walked with Latias and Anthony into the base. Nathaniel smiled when she saw Latios look up excitedly at Latias and stepped out of the way as he charged at her.
“LATIAS!” He squealed with joy as he hugged her tightly.
“OWW!” Latias yelped. “Big brother, my wing!”
“I sowwy.” Latios said, and the two embraced more gently.
“Ninetales, did you…” Nathaniel began.
“Yes I put the mental regression curse on him.” Ninetales laughed. “He wouldn’t relax so I put that one on to help. I’ll remove it if you want me too.”
“No! Not yet.” Latias said laughing at her brother, who was now nuzzling her. “I kind of like my new little brother.”
“It’ll wear off in a week to a month then.” Ninetales said. “It depends on how much he fights the curse. No struggling means a full month.”
“Thank you.” Latias said. “You’ve done so much for us. We’ve nothing to repay you with though. The only thing I can think of would be if we can join your team.”
“Don’t join just because of that.” Nathaniel said. “I don’t want you to feel forced. If you truly want to join us then you are welcome to.”
“I do.” Latias said. “Besides, if we join, I can have better access to that curse of yours Ninetales if I want to keep my brother like this.”
“You’ll have to let it wear off sometime.” Ninetales laughed. “How are you supposed to go on missions if he’s like that?”
“Consider yourself on a sort of maternity leave until the curse wears off Latias.” Nathaniel said. “Then it’s up to him if he wants to have the curse placed on him again. Ninetales can remove it whenever she wants but this will be a good time to recover from recent events. Did you by any chance see where that meteor crashed after it hit you by the way?”
“No, I didn’t. Sorry!”
The team said their goodbyes and Ninetales gave Nathaniel and Anthony a much needed diaper change. After dinner it was straight to bed and Nathaniel and Anthony went out like a light. Ninetales made a note not to let them go to two dungeons in one day again and curled around the Pokémon she treasured as her children and fell asleep.

| Chapter 26
Nathaniel woke up when he was tossed a foot in the air from a massive tremor. He groaned along with his Pokémon and got to his feet on shaky legs. Something zoomed into the base and began flying around wildly until Nathaniel grabbed whatever it was by the tail. Mew froze and looked really worried.
“Your brother again?” Nathaniel asked.
“Sure was!” Mew said. “He’s never stirred like that before! We need to find out what it was that caused this!”
“I’ll come too.” Anthony said before he went completely limp. “NINETALES!”
“You’re even more fatigued than Nathaniel.” Ninetales said. “I’m reluctant to let him go but let’s face it, he’s the face of Team Libra and should spearhead the missions. You’ll remain here and I’ll keep you weak if you continue to struggle.”
Anthony huffed and crossed his arms pouting in a way that just made him look even cuter than an Eevee in diapers would be. Ninetales smirked and hit him with her physical regression curse to shrink him down to a fluffy little one, making him irresistibly adorable. Nathaniel laughed and then taped Ninetales on her flank. Ninetales turned to him and laughed when Nathaniel sat down with a squish. She untapped his diaper and laughed at how soaked he was. She cleaned him up and threaded his blue tail through the hole in the back before bringing the front flap up and tapped him in. She gave his diaper a pat and Nathaniel proved how fatigued he wasn’t by shaking his tail and legs a bit just to hear the crinkle before trying to pounce Mew out of the air. Mew barely raised himself above the pounce in time but couldn’t dodge Nathaniel as he back flipped upon landing and then brought Mew down to the ground.
“Ready to go?” Nathaniel asked smiling.
“Let’s get going.” Mew wheezed.
Nathaniel decided that the two that would come with would be Absol and Caterpie. He walked outside with Absol and Mew to find Xatu waiting outside.
“What brings you here Xatu?” Nathaniel said. “Did you have another vision?”
“Actually I’m here merely for pleasure.” Xatu said. “I can’t see to far into the future right now but I can feel the residue of energies left by the Meteor slowly dissipating.”
“We believe a large piece may have survived.” Nathaniel said.
“I heard about that from Caterpie.” Xatu said. “I think I can help you find that meteor soon.”
“Really?” Nathaniel asked. “How?”
“Here comes the real one to help you now.” Xatu said looking at a limping Blastoise.
“What happened to you?” Nathaniel asked.
“I went into some cave and was attacked by phantom Pokémon.” Blastoise said. “I couldn’t see them half the time. The other half of the time, they didn’t appear until they attacked. I went down only four floors until I was defeated by a really fast one.”
“You went inside what will now be known as Meteor Cave.” Xatu said. “A rescue badge may only support one Pokémon there. Which of you will go?”
“It’ll be me.” Nathaniel said. “The meteor may have something to do with the earthquake this morning. Absol, Mew, do whatever else today I guess. Where is this cave at Blastoise?”
Nathaniel found the cave exactly where Blastoise said it would be. He switched his items to X-Ray Specs so he could see the phantom Pokémon on the map and walked in. He found the stairs right away but they were blocked! He looked at the map and saw that there was only one enemy Pokémon on the map and headed for it. After a bit of chasing he saw a semi transparent Pokémon ahead and fired an Aura Sphere at it. The attack collided and the Pokémon began moving towards him. Nathaniel fired another Aura Sphere and the Pokémon disappeared. Nathaniel felt the ground vibrate and he looked at his map. He saw the stairs were no longer blocked and went down them when he got back. Eighteen floors later he still hadn’t gotten close enough to the phantom Pokémon to see what it was. All he could tell was that there was one on each floor and that some of them took awhile to bring down, some of them hit hard, and the rest were really fast. He walked down the last staircase and saw what the phantom Pokémon were. Deoxys stood in the center of the room looking very confused. Deoxys took one look at Nathaniel and brought his hands close together as a ball of psychic energy formed in front of his chest. The Psycho Boost fired and Nathaniel only dodged it by using Detect. He ran forward, dodging additional attacks until he got close enough and bit down on Deoxys’s arm. Nathaniel wasn’t sure why he bit Deoxys, but judging by the power he felt rushing with the attack, it was Crunch! Deoxys threw Nathaniel off of his arm with a jerk, and Nathaniel bounced back at him with his jaws open again. Deoxys fired Hyper Beam and Nathaniel flew against the wall with a small crack. Nathaniel gingerly touched his tail and let out a loud yelp of pain. He turned to Deoxys with flames coming from both his eyes, and his feet and ran at him. Deoxys couldn’t stop Nathaniel as he chained together a Blaze Kick, an Ice Punch, a Force Palm, a Crunch, and his last Aura Sphere.
When Nathaniel had finished, Deoxys used Recover and looked around. “Where am I? All I can remember was an explosion waking me up and then a crash. What happened?”
“The meteor that you were in was heading straight for our world at a speed that would have destroyed it.” Nathaniel answered. “My team and I were sent to Rayquaza to have it destroyed before it could destroy our world. It broke into pieces and you landed here.”
“This isn’t good!” Deoxys said. “I’m not the only one who was inside that meteor! There was a nightmare inside as well! An evil consciousness that I held within to keep from harming other worlds. Now that I’ve landed on your world, it is free to move around the world! I can sense it left fragments here so it must be weak, but it has to be stopped!”
“That explains all of the phantoms above.” Nathaniel said. “I think I know where your nightmare has gone. It is causing a very powerful Pokémon with psychic powers to stir in its sleep. This is causing very strong tremors.”
“If a Pokémon stirs and causes something like that, then we have to find it before it traps that Pokémon in a nightmare!” Deoxys said. “It could end up destroying your world anyway if it does!”
“Will you help us then?” Nathaniel asked.
“I will if you can get me out of here.” Deoxys said nodding.
Nathaniel nodded as well and raised his now Diamond Rank Badge and the two of them escaped from the dungeon.
Chapter 27
“So what should we do now?” Nathaniel asked his team, Alakazam, Xatu and Gardevoir after explaining all Deoxys had told him. “I somehow doubt we’ll just be able to walk up to Mew’s brother and wake him up with a “Rise and shine!””
“My brother is in a really intense dungeon called Western Cave.” Mew sighed. “You are correct Nathaniel. It will take something big to wake him up. It took some serious disasters from the meteors to wake up Groudon and Kyogre. You’ll need either something just as big to wake my brother, or maybe the Pokémon of awakening can help.”
“Who’s the Pokémon of awakening?” Nathaniel queried. “And where can we find it?”
“No Pokémon alive except for maybe the legendaries know who the Pokémon of awakening is.” Alakazam said. “As to where it is, I’m not sure. I’ve heard the Pokémon of slumber lies at the bottom of Silver Trench though. Maybe he’ll know where you can find the Pokémon of awakening.”
“You’ll need our help to find our master.” The legendary birds said simultaneously. “Come to legendary island with whatever team you plan to bring to Silver Trench and we’ll help you get there.”
The birds extended their wings and flew off to their friend area. Nathaniel thought about the upcoming dungeon. It sounded like he’d be facing several Water Pokémon so he chose Chikorita and Absol to come with him and Anthony. Before he could leave, Nathaniel went weak at the knees and then dropped as his limbs refused to work.
“You’re not going anywhere else today Nathaniel.” Ninetales chided as she picked him up and set him on the hay. “You went into two dungeons yesterday and I kept Anthony at home because of that. Caterpie only went to short places like Tiny Woods and the dojo so he was fine. But Silver Trench is just as long as Buried Relic so you are not going there today.”
“I have to Ninetales!” Nathaniel whined. “In case you haven’t been listening, the world is ending again!”
“Do you trust your team?” Ninetales growled.
“Of course!” Nathaniel snapped back.
“Then you can trust Anthony to lead a group down there.” Ninetales said. “He’s been resting obediently all day so he can lead for once.”
“He’ll need Kyogre to come with.” Xatu said. “Silver Trench is inaccessible without the aid of a Water Pokémon.”
“Fine!” Nathaniel pouted with his arms crossed. “Take the badge Anthony. Bring Absol to Silver Trench with Kyogre. And would you mind removing the mental regression curse Ninetales?”
“You’re pouting on your own!” Ninetales laughed. “There’s not much I have to do to you in order to make you into a toddler. Just a bit more and I could have an infant!”
Everyone left as Ninetales said that. None of them wanted to be around since they all could feel the tension in the air. All of Ninetales’s tails began to glow and Nathaniel just admitted defeat. Ninetales began advancing upon him and he raised one eye at her. Ninetales rolled her eyes and she decreased the amount of tails glowing until only three were left. Nathaniel rolled his eyes recognizing which three they were and let her proceed. He felt one curse lift as three more were applied. He shrank down to a tired, fluffy little guy who was actually quite ticklish. Ninetales pounce on Nathaniel before he could say anything and mercilessly began to tickle him with her front paws and all nine of her tails. At one point she pinned each of his limbs to the ground and went for the coup de grace. She brought her mouth down to Nathaniel’s stomach and he began laughing before she even began. He absolutely shrieked with laughter when she began blowing raspberries into him and lay helplessly exhausted on the ground when she’d finished. His gasps for breath slowed and he fell into an exhausted slumber as Ninetales opened up his thoroughly soaked and bulging diaper.
Nathaniel woke up later to find Ninetales was gone. He walked on his still rather stubby legs and found Ninetales outside with Kyogre.
“How’d the mission go?” Nathaniel asked.
“I wouldn’t know.” Kyogre sighed wearily. “I was KO’ed in a monster house that was actually a whole floor. There were several floors like that. I hope they can still make it through.”
“That was rough!” Absol panted. “I hope we can still make it without Kyogre.”
“We have to.” Anthony coughed. “We’ve come too far to fail now. This is the ninety-seventh floor. Ninetales said Silver Trench was just as long as Buried relic so that means the ninety-ninth floor is the last and that’s probably where the Pokémon of slumber is.”
Absol nodded and they continued on to the stairs. Before they went down them, Anthony picked up a seed and was glad to see it was a Reviver Seed. He put it in the toolbox and went with Absol down the stairs. His heart dropped when they saw that it was another one room monster house floor.
“Anthony.” Absol sighed. “This is it. You’ll have to face the Pokémon of slumber on your own. I know how to use Perish Song in a way that will make it 100% accurate. The only problem is that it will hit everyone in the room including me. You’re team leader so the Reviver Seed will affect you first. Good luck.”
Anthony nodded grimly and braced himself as Absol let out an unearthly, haunting cry that came out accompanied by a music that set the heart on edge. The Pokémon on the floor all rushed towards Absol, but with three steps, they all fell to the floor and disappeared along with Absol. Anthony collapsed and blacked out. He saw a bright light and got right back up. He saw the empty room and sighed. He forced himself to see one bright side to the sacrifice Absol made. He was now at his full strength from the Reviver Seed. He walked to the steps and went down to a dimly lit room and saw a tall Pokémon staring right at him. Anthony wasn’t sure how, but he recognized the white Pokémon with the blue areas around the eyes as Lugia.
“Who are you and why do you come?” Lugia inquired.
“I am Anthony; stand in leader of Team Libra.” Anthony responded. “I’ve come to seek the aid of the Pokémon of slumber.”
“Oh!” Lugia said. “Let me help you then. I’ll help you sleep deeply. When you awaken in a few years you’ll be refreshed.”
“NO WAIT!” Anthony shouted before Lugia could do anything. “I don’t have a problem with my sleep! I seek the Pokémon of awakening and believe you may have some information that can help me find him.”
“How adorable.” Lugia laughed. “He wants to find my brother. Tell you what little one. Spar with me and I’ll give you something that can lead you to him. It’s been such a long time since I’ve had any decent challenge. The Pokémon here are all too scared of me to even try.”
Anthony rolled his eyes and fired Shadow Ball at Lugia. Lugia flinched when the attack hit and fired Aero Blast at Anthony. Anthony blocked the attack with Protect and rushed at Lugia using Bite. Anthony jumped off of Lugia after biting his wing before he could be hit point blank with Hydro Pump. He fired a Shadow Ball again and Lugia cried, “Enough!” as he used Recover.
“You’re a strong little one.” Lugia said. “You just may have the skills to find my brother. Take this Clear Wing. If you head to Fiery Fields on the nearby continent, you should be able to find one there who can point you in the right direction.”
“Thank you Lugia.” Anthony said gratefully.
“Don’t thank me yet.” Lugia laughed. “I have an offer for you as well. If you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to join your rescue team.”
“You would!” Anthony yipped excitedly. “Wonderful! Of course you can join!”
Lugia smiled and Anthony raised the badge so that the two of them could escape the dungeon.

| Chapter 28
Nathaniel woke up the next morning and got straight to business. A quick change and then he gathered the team he would bring with to Fiery Fields. Anthony was a must, and then he decided to bring Ninetales and Absol. He left Cyndaquil in charge of things and ate an apple on the way to the dungeon. When they finally got there, he could see why it was called Fiery Fields. There were several pools of magma bubbling every here and there.
“So who do you think we’re supposed to find here?” Nathaniel asked.
“If I had to guess, I’d say a Fire Pokémon.” Absol said.
“Don’t you say it Anthony!” Nathaniel snapped as he saw Anthony open his mouth.
“Wow you’re quick!” Anthony exclaimed. “It’s like you know!”
“Doesn’t help that you did it to him twice.” Ninetales said. “We won’t find out who we’re supposed to see by standing here. Let’s go!”
They saw plenty of fire Pokémon in the dungeon. Most attacked only once and then ran when their Fire attacks had no effect on Ninetales. There was a time when an Ursaring tried to attack, but Ninetales stepped in front of him as well. Ninetales took one look Ursaring and the Pokémon fell asleep. Nathaniel let out a gasp in surprise as he recognized Ninetales using Hypnosis and then watched as she finished Ursaring with Dream Eater. Eventually they reached a clearing with one Pokémon looking at them from the center. Nathaniel recognized the legendary it was as Entei.
“Who is it who intrudes upon my domain?” Entei asked calmly.
“Team Libra.” Nathaniel answered.
“GOOD!” Entei roared with the volume of an erupting volcano. “NOW I KNOW WHO TO ADD TO THE LIST OF ALL WHO HAVE LEFT HERE IN DEFEAT!”
Nathaniel rolled his eyes exasperatedly and fired an Aura Sphere. Entei flinched at the hit and used Fire Blast. Ninetales took the hit and then Absol ran forward with Anthony. Both of them then used Bite on Entei and Nathaniel hit him with Aura Sphere when he flinched from the attacks. Ninetales then launched a more powerful Heat Wave thanks to her Flash Fire and Entei sank to his knees.
“You have bested me.” He sighed. “Therefore I must serve you now.”
“Join my rescue team and then tell me what I can do with this and we’ll call it even.” Nathaniel said placing the clearwing at his feet.
“I will join your team as you request,” Entei said with wide eyes. “But I wonder who gave you the clear wing.”
“Lugia did.” Anthony answered. Nathaniel then explained their current quest. Entei nodded and then shot flames onto the wing. The wing turned red and Nathaniel picked it up.
“If you can bring that to my brother in Lightning Fields, he can send you in the right direction.” Entei said. “You will need the Red Wing when you see him. I recommend you go now. Regardless, I will wait for you at your base.”
Nathaniel nodded and sent Entei back to the base while he and his team made the decision to go to Lightning Fields. Ninetales was the only one reluctant to allow it, but couldn’t resist the three pleading faces of her favorite kits. They reached the place and saw that it looked like it could storm at any time. It definitely made sense to be called Lightning Fields. They rested for a short time and after Nathaniel and Anthony got a change, they went in.
They breezed through the dungeon thanks to every one of them knowing a ground attack. Whenever they came across the occasional Cacturne, either Nathaniel would handle it with either Blaze Kick or Ice Punch, or Ninetales would with a Fire attack. They eventually reached another clearing with another legendary standing there.
“Who is it who brings harm to those in my dominion?” Raikou asked with a voice that reminded Nathaniel of the calm before the storm.
“We of Team Libra did not intend to bring harm to this place Raikou.” Nathaniel said wearily expecting his comment to go unheeded.
“AND YET YOU DID AND SO MUST PAY!” Raikou roared with a voice like thunder. Nathaniel rolled his eyes in annoyance. Why did they have to fight almost every legendary they came across? He cupped his hands together and threw an Aura Sphere to block a Thunder from Raikou and rushed forward alone. Raikou rushed at him using Spark and Nathaniel blocked the attack with Ice Punch. Nathaniel then tried to use Blaze Kick, but got his foot caught in Raikou’s mouth as he used Crunch. Raikou then switched to Thunder Fang as Nathaniel brought his palm to Raikou’s head with Force Palm. Nathaniel and Raikou were blown away from each other, both paralyzed from each other’s attacks. Nathaniel laughed and Raikou looked at him confusedly wondering what was so funny, until the rest of Nathaniel’s team made their appearance using Dig. Raikou could do nothing to stop the attacks and was brought down.
“Why have you come?” Raikou asked panting as he lay on his side.
“We need your help to find the Pokémon of awakening.” Nathaniel said placing the Red Wing in front of him.
“I see.” He growled as he slowly got to his feet. He zapped the Red Wing and said, “The Sunset Wing must be brought to one in the Northwind Fields. Then you will be able to find the Pokémon you seek. Now I must request to join your rescue team.”
“Absolutely.” Nathaniel said holding out his badge. Raikou smiled and disappeared before Nathaniel sent his own team to the dungeon’s entrance.
“Is everyone feeling up to taking on one more dungeon today?” Nathaniel asked.
“We should be asking you that.” Ninetales said. “You did most of the damage against Raikou and received all of the damage he dished out.”
“I’m fine now Ninetales.” Nathaniel sighed. “If everyone is up to it, I’m sure I can take another dungeon like that no problem.”
“We should try at least.” Absol said. “If we can get the help of the last Pokémon today, we’d be in a much better position to wake Mew’s brother up.”
“He’s right.” Anthony agreed. “We’re fine anyway so there’s not much harm in at least trying.”
“Very well then.” Ninetales said. “May as well make it unanimous.”
Nathaniel nodded and they ran to the Northwind Fields. Nathaniel could tell why it was called that because it was rather chilly. Walking in they were set upon by a few Poliwag. Anthony jumped in front of Ninetales using Protect to block a Hydro Pump that one of them fired. Absol was furious and used Perish Song. Even a few of the Pokémon in nearby hallways heard the song and three turns later, fainted.
“Nice work Absol!” Nathaniel complimented as they ran for the stairs. One Jynx was foolish enough to stand in the way and was brought down by a linked Crunch, Blaze Kick and Rock Slide. When they reached a clearing, Nathaniel felt sure he knew who would be waiting for them. He was proven right when they saw Suicune waiting for them.
“I could feel the Sunset Wing drawing near.” Suicune said with a voice as chill as the wind he ran with. “I don’t know how you came to possess it, but if you desire the Rainbow Wing, you must battle me to get it.”
Suicune let out a bone chilling howl and before the battle began, the Northern Lights began to dance above the clearing, casting radiant color over each of the combatants. Suicune attacked first by using Tailwind and used his increased speed to fire Hydro Pump. Ninetales canceled it out with Fire Blast, and Absol counteracted Suicune’s Tailwind by using a Quick Orb to increase the team’s speed and then used Shock Wave. The attack hit at the same time Ninetales’s Energy Ball did. Suicune was then hit by two Shadow Balls plus a flurry of linked attacks by Nathaniel. Suicune hit Nathaniel with Aurora Beam once, before being hit by Shadow Ball, Shock Wave, Energy Ball, and Aura Sphere all at once. A small explosion occurred when the attacks hit and when the smoke cleared, Suicune stood there groaning.
“You have bested me.” Suicune panted. “Present the Sunset Wing to me.”
Nathaniel set the Sunset Wing in front of Suicune and stepped back. Suicune used what looked like a miniature Aurora Beam on the Wing and it turned into the Rainbow Wing.
“Now you will be able to find the Pokémon of awakening at Mt. Faraway.” Suicune said. “Good luck!”
Suicune ran away on the winds and Nathaniel smiled as he held up the Rainbow Wing in a cheesy victory pose.

| I don't know why but that is just the way it turns up on FTT. I double space only between paragraphs and that results in three spaces between paragraphs for some odd reason. Here's more of the story.
Chapter 29
Nathaniel woke again in the morning to another tremor, larger than the last one. He was exceedingly happy that they’d built the base to survive such disasters. After checking whether or not everyone was okay, he went out to town to see about everyone else. Several buildings had fallen and others were already working to help those trapped or hurt. Nathaniel didn’t need to look next to him to know Mew was floating there.
“I need you to do a few things Mew.” Nathaniel said. “I want you to first organize the rest of the team and get them to help here. Then I want you to go to Western Cave with Deoxys and wait for me there. I’ll be able to find you so that will lead me there, and we may need Deoxys to weaken the nightmare if he has any hold on Mewtwo. That way we can get in and wake up your brother. Did you get all that?”
Mew nodded and flew off as fast as he could while Nathaniel went back to base. He got a quick change from Ninetales and gathered up the original team. Anthony, Cyndaquil and Chikorita were ready to go. Nathaniel gave Ninetales a hug before he left and thought as he headed to Mt. Faraway, “I hope that wasn’t a final farewell.”
Nathaniel stood at the top of Mt. Faraway with his team. They were above the clouds and Nathaniel wasn’t sure if the patch of clouds he saw on the horizon was a figment of his imagination, or if it was Sky Tower. It had been a long climb up with an assortment of Pokémon along the way. Nathaniel continued to look around but couldn’t see any other Pokémon up there.
“I don’t get it.” Anthony said. “We’ve been all over this mountain and this is the only other place to look for the Pokémon of awakening. Where is he?”
“Perhaps the wing knows.” Nathaniel postulated as he brought it out. The wing was glowing softly but nothing else was happening. Nathaniel decided to try looking through it and saw the world in many colors.
“Beautiful isn’t it?” a voice asked.
Nathaniel turned and saw a golden bird Pokémon standing there. He brought the feather back down and the Pokémon appeared transparent at first. When the Pokémon came into full focus, Nathaniel recognized it as Ho-oh.
“That is how I wish the world were.” Ho-oh said. “A place of extraordinary beauty. Sadly it is not and we are in need of warriors. The four of you must be powerful to have made it here. Show me your strength if you please.”
Nathaniel sighed, “Since you said please.” And hit Ho-oh with Rock Slide and then an Ice Punch. His team followed suit and attacked with all they were worth. Ho-oh used Recover and the attacks began again. Finally, after six sets of attacks, Ho-oh called a halt.
“Very good.” Ho-oh laughed. “Because of your astounding strength and awesome courage, I will grant you two things if you can now truly best me and my champion!”
Ho-oh screeched and used Sacred Fire on Anthony while he was attacked from behind by Hydro Pump. Anthony blocked both attacks with Protect and Nathaniel leaped at Ho-oh using Crunch. Cyndaquil and Chikorita turned to face the new threat and Nathaniel didn’t see them afterward. He was too busy dodging Ho-oh’s beak and attacking ruthlessly. Anthony saw that Nathaniel clearly didn’t need any help and rushed to face Suicune. Cyndaquil made sure to dodge Suicune’s attacks with Dig while Chikorita exchanged dodging and firing ranged attacks with Suicune. Just as Cyndaquil hit Suicune with Dig, Anthony struck Suicune from behind using Shadow Ball. Because he was distracted by both attacks, Suicune didn’t dodge the Razor Leaf that KO’ed him. The team turned to help Nathaniel, but stopped as Nathaniel got a point blank shot to the back of Ho-oh’s head with Aura Sphere. Ho-oh crumpled but then was restored by a Reviver Seed. He used one on Suicune and signaled him to stay his attacks.
“You have bested us both.” Ho-oh said. “Congratulations! As one reward for having done so, my champion and I both swear our loyalty to you. The second reward is any request. If it is within our power, you may ask anything of us.”
“Do you have anything that can awaken a Pokémon from its ancient slumber?” Nathaniel asked before explaining why he had come.
Ho-oh nodded approvingly at his motives for coming and plucked one of his feathers. It shone for a moment and then hardened to what felt to be a metal.
“This is an Awakening Feather.” Ho-oh said. “If you can get to him, you can awaken Mew’s brother with this. I remember this nightmare you spoke of. If it has trapped Mew’s brother in a nightmare by the time you get there, you will have to battle him. If you can defeat him before the full powers of slumber belong to the nightmare, you can not only awaken Mew’s brother, but also banish the nightmare.”
“Thank you Ho-oh!” Nathaniel said. “I have my first orders for the both of you. Go to Entei and Raikou’s friend areas first. If they are there, bring them to Pokémon Square and help with the repairs and healing in town. If they aren’t there, it means they are already there so go anyway.”
Ho-oh nodded and flew off while Suicune ran like the wind across the sea. Nathaniel then focused and felt where Mew and Deoxys were and rushed to them. Nathaniel felt a lot of negative emotion coming from the dungeon entrance. It nearly drove him to his knees until Deoxys did something to him.
“You should be able to get down there now.” Deoxys said. “The nightmare will have no effect on you.”
“Be careful if you have to battle my brother Nathaniel.” Mew said worriedly. “He’s incredibly powerful, and he should be. He was engineered to be the ultimate fighting machine.”
“I’ll be careful Mew.” Nathaniel said. “I want the two of you to go and help the town now.”
Mew and Deoxys nodded and flew off while Nathaniel turned with his team and went into the dungeon. After along dungeon crawl through many high level Pokémon, they came to a small room. They took a few steps into it and then Cyndaquil and Chikorita were thrown back against the wall and KO’ed. Nathaniel looked back to see who did it and saw an evil looking Mewtwo in front of him.
“I chose well when I possessed this Pokémon.” A voice that dripped with evil and malice said. “Soon I will have him completely trapped within my nightmare and his full powers will be at my disposal.”
“NOT IF I CAN HELP IT!” Nathaniel roared as he leaped at the Mewtwo using Crunch. Mewtwo threw him off casually and turned to him as he crashed against the wall. Nathaniel felt his tail crack painfully and was almost immobilized by the pain. Nathaniel looked up painfully and saw Mewtwo about to finish him with Psycho Cut. He was hit from behind suddenly by Shadow Ball and thanks to the distraction, Nathaniel was able to hit Mewtwo with a cheap Blaze Kick in a very vulnerable region. As Mewtwo hunched over in agony, Nathaniel gave him an Ice Punch uppercut at the same time Anthony used Bite on his tail. Nathaniel then jumped on Mewtwo and used Crunch once more. Mewtwo blasted them both off of him with Psychic and then turned to Nathaniel again.
Nathaniel was about ready to drop until Anthony hit Mewtwo again with Shadow Ball. Mewtwo froze and began clutching his head then. Nathaniel pulled out the Awakening Feather and held it forth. Mewtwo began to jerk wildly and the cave began shaking just as violently. Nathaniel knew the feather was working but had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. His bad feeling increased as several small explosions started appearing out of nowhere and he turned to Mewtwo again. Suddenly there was a brilliant flash of light and a loud KABOOM, and Nathaniel knew no more.

His bad feeling increased as several small explosions started appearing out of nowhere and he turned to Mewtwo again. Suddenly there was a brilliant flash of light and a loud KABOOM, and Nathaniel knew no more.
Chapter 30
Nathaniel opened his eyes slowly. Wherever he was, it was bright, and it was silent. He began to wonder if he was dead until he felt a sharp pain shoot through his tail and up his spine. He groaned as it intensified and then subsided, leaving his tail feeling much better. He sat up and looked at whoever had been messing with his tail. He saw what looked to be a green, blue eyed fairy. Then he recognized it as Celebi.
“Thanks for healing my tail.” Nathaniel said.
“And the rest of you as well.” Celebi laughed. “That was quite a fall you had. Your friends nearly landed right on top of me. I had to look around for you.”
“Are they okay?” Nathaniel asked in a half panic as he remembered the explosion.
“They’re fine.” Celebi said soothingly. “I had to send them out of here through the Passage of Time though. They couldn’t get out of here otherwise. If you hurry, you can get through the passage in time to get near to where they are.”
“Why couldn’t they get out?” Nathaniel asked as Celebi walked him towards a set of glowing arches of blue light.
“They’d have to go on their own through Purity Forest backwards.” Celebi said. “They became level one on entry and they’d stand no chance getting past even floor ninety-eight. Your badge was broken so they couldn’t escape with you using that.”
“Why didn’t they wait for me?” Nathaniel asked.
“They couldn’t.” Celebi said. “They had to escape or risk being swept away by the dungeon winds and then they’d have to wait for a rescue team good enough to reach them.”
Nathaniel felt an odd breeze at that moment.
“That’s the dungeon winds!” Celebi gasped. “You have to go through now!”
“Please do me a favor.” Nathaniel begged. “Take my badge and give it to Ninetales. Tell her she is the leader of team Libra now.”
“I will.” Celebi said accepting the badge. Nathaniel nodded and rushed through the arches and vanished from that time, never to be seen again.
Celebi made her way out of the dungeon and to Pokémon Square. She found a wounded Mewtwo telling a tale of how Nathaniel and his team bested him in combat and saved the world. He then offered to whoever was now in charge of Team Libra to join the team. Ninetales was looked at for temporary command and accepted the offer, until Mewtwo had an involuntary release of Psychic energy. She still accepted, but on the condition that she bind his attacks until he could control them as the nightmare had left some damage behind. Ninetales couldn’t fully bind his power and had to regress him somewhat in order to make the bind absolute. Celebi took the time after that was completed to step forward and tell her tale. She presented the now crying Ninetales with Nathaniel’s badge. Ninetales looked at the badge and smiled.
“We lost a valuable rescue team today.” Ninetales announced to the crowd. “Nathaniel was a top rescue team leader and a friend to us all. By this badge however, we can look at this day with hope and happiness. We know by this badge that the future is bright.”
Ninetales held up the badge for all to see. Nathaniel left a powerful legacy behind as the badge shone in the setting sun as the Lucario Rank badge.
