An Essay on...well...Fur

A simple essay I wrote late one night, please tell me what you think









You know, it might just be the incense going to my head, but as I sit here on my bed, at 3:51 in the morning, burning a stick of incense and trying desperately to center myself among the chaos that is today, I have thoughts occurring to me that must be expressed and recorded. See, I myself am a 14 year old, Christian boy, yet I am one other thing, something that is debated over many areas of the US as well as the world itself. I am a member of what’s commonly known as the “Furry Fandom” or, by other, more immature, groups that I will discuss later, a “Furfag” Now, I know you’re thinking, “Why the fuck did you get up this late just to tell us these stupid, irrelevant pieces of information?” It’s because I’m trying to make a point, trying to force open the eyes of humanity to the clear truth that seems to be right in front of us. We’re all humans, and as such I think we’d better start acting like, and treating each other accordingly. Now, let me cover this from three of the following perspectives. First, to the ED, SomethingAwful, 4chan, spammers, or just anti-furs, why are you even bothering us about it? I mean think about it people, have you ever seen an older brother sitting on the floor on a hot summer day, playing a video game? Sure, he’s not doing much, but he’s not in your way, and he’s having fun. And then here comes the annoying smaller brother out of nowhere that just hops around him, making fun of him for staying indoors on such a beautiful day, the brother defends himself, saying he doesn’t do this everyday, and to get off his case, but still this smaller brother annoys him. Now, what have we determined about the smaller brother? We’ve learned that he seems to be annoying his brother for no reason, generalizing him, and yet at the same time, committing hypocrisy by staying indoors and making fun of his brother for the same things that he himself is doing. Now, all these anti furs, realize that you are the smaller brother. You’re generalizing a group of people saying that all of them are these freaky fursuit wearing, super fag, delusional weirdoes. Yet, in reality most are just regular, everyday people that happen to like anthro, or whatever! Now, before you shout off going “OMG, this is written by another furfag!” Realize that I never said you weren’t valid in certain areas, when I discuss Furs, you’ll see what I mean, so pay attention.

Now, from the point of view of furries themselves, I’ll try to keep this brief. Those of us that happen to have normal social, work, and home lives are probably praising this article as you read, due to the fact that you’re tired of sitting by and listening to all this “YIFF IN HELL FURFAGS” stuff. Also, as a side note, those of us domestic furs (and by that I mean, normal lives, just fur fans) that sit there and fight back against organizations like 4Chan, SomethingAwful, places like that. You need to realize that you’re fighting a useless battle. I’d love to think this essay would change something, but at the end of the day it’s still going to come down to opinions. So, if YOU know that you are a successful, domestic person that just happens to share this tame interest, then don’t fight back. The important thing is, is that YOU know the truth. However, if someone knocks down your front door, saying “KILL THE FURSUITER!” Don’t hesitate to cover your ass as usually. Ignore slamming, not misjudgment. NOW THEN, onto the intense “I’m an animal on the inside, suit me up!” Furs, listen to the following very closely:

YOU ARE HUMAN, GET THE FUCK USED TO IT. Just because you’re into a certain fandom, that doesn’t mean you somehow have some special powers or some shit like that. Just chill out, calm down, and realize that you’re a human. Also, for God sakes Furries, if we’re trying to clean up our reputation, and claim that no furry is some fat asshole that lives in his mom’s basement, then don’t be that way! Go out, get a job, and loose some weight. This will all usually start when you realize that you’re a human. As for fursuits…well, to be honest, I could care less about fursuits. It’s not for me, but if that’s what makes you happy, then go for it. All I’m asking is that we clean it up and keep it within reason. Also, all these other side fetishes, like bondage, and scat, and all that stuff. See, people, we all need to realize that these are SIDE fetishes, as in, they’re not “Furry” exclusive. Anyone can have them







So you see, furry fandom is simply that. A Fandom, so those furs that think otherwise, I suggest you pick up a reality check. And for those anti-furs, well you all need to stop being dickheads and stop wasting your time making untrue, generalizing jokes about someone’s preferences. ALSO, on an important side note, something else floating around is this whole “Nazi fur” thing. Ok, c’mon people, how retarded can you possibly be?? I mean, the people that came up with it are retarded, but BELIVING IT makes you really retarded. Sure, there are Nazis, racists, and other forms of ignorant people in the world, but just because someone is furry, it doesn’t mean that they are a Nazi, or an anti Christian. ANYONE CAN BE THAT WAY. So c’mon people, let’s think before we believe.



Now, winding down, say you’re just someone who’s biased, or a concerned parent who just realized their child is a member of this fandom. Here is the rundown. Furry fandom is an interest in anamorphic or furry art. An anamorphic figure is simply a person with fur, tail, ears, teeth, and paws of a specific animal. They behave, walk, and dress like humans in most cases. Also, included in Fur fandom, are Nekos. Which is actually the Japanese word for cat; anyway, this is simply a figure with ears, and tail or a specific animal. Now that you know what’s what, we can get down to the issue. You see, fur fandom comes in three broad categories. Neko (See above) Anamorphic (See above) and finally, the section you actually might have to worry about. Fursuit. These are people that usually not only find interest in, but believe that they are an animal, and enjoy dressing in, or even “yiffing” (A furry term for sex) in. Notice my above paragraph encouraging them to “Get real.” Now, I’m going to stop right here and unload more truth on you. NOT ALL FURSUITERS ARE THIS WILD. Fursuiters can simply be normal furs that want to dress in the costumes. However, most of the time this is not the case, but keeping the spirit of this paper, I implore you to talk to this person about it first and determine which kind of fursuiter that the individual person is.



More or less, I’m saying to everyone that “No two people, FURS INCLUDED, are the same. So let’s all grow a brain and realize this. And treat each other accordingly.





Now, back to those first timers, realize now that the furry fandom can be an innocent, harmless thing, or a very disruptive disturbing thing. But you have to remember to evaluate each individual person. Unlike some Anti fur groups. You’re gonna have to form your own opinions, but make sure to stay open minded. I take special interest in this area of people, due to certain very negative aspects in media. Such as MTV, CSI, and various news stories, and I feel these deserve special attention as well. You see, is you have a bowel of fruit, and one or two oranges in that bowel of fruit were…damaged, or imperfect, then you’d be more focused on that, then the rest of the normal, edible fruit in the bowel. What I’m trying to say is, most of the time, groups and large media seem to want to concentrate on the negative aspects of anything. Mostly because they know that this will bring much higher ratings. So, if your opinion was been set or heavily influenced by one of these programs or articles, then I suggest you re open your mind to what’s really going on.



All in all, we must learn as human beings that we can’t put any group of people in a box and label them all the same, simply because of what they believe or like. So:



Anti-furs: Shut up, open your mind, and get lives



Freaky Fursuiters: Realize you’re human, and get lives



Biased or Newbie: Keep an open mind, and get it from both sides and all angles.



See, maybe if we could all think like this, the world would be a much easier place to live in. I’m not saying lets all turn into one group; I’m saying lets try to just stop bothering each other for stupid reasons. Let thy neighbor do as he pleases. If it’s not killing or hurting you, then it’s not your issue. So leave it alone. Come on humanity, all colors, religions, fetishes, and sexualities, come on and let’s pull it together, so it doesn’t fall apart. Because if it falls apart, we’re going with it, and that’s just how it is.



Now then, let’s wrap this up. You obviously need to do some thinking, and I need to get a fire extinguisher, that incense stick I mentioned earlier just caught my damn carpet on fire.

Well said. You have a way of putting your point across clearly that's impressive for any human being, let alone a 14-year-old!

My take on the whole thing is just to be nice to everyone and not pay any attention to people who say mean things about the kind of person you are. Telling people that what they think is wrong is practically never productive. Slowly but surely, the world is becoming a more accepting, open-minded place. The intolerant jerks who think everybody should be just like them are gradually becoming extinct. Just sit back and watch it happen.

Max, that essay couldnt of been any better, you hit the nail on the head! Peopl in todays society should shove a coork up there ass and keep comments to them selfs. I'v seen some bad anti-fur people, and why there against us just throws my head for a spin. like u said everybody is diffrent in there own way, and that is what makes us u-nique. people need to grow up and accet that us furry people, were almost no diffrent from the person standing next to on the bus, just that we like something diffrent. as long as were not endangering someone, whats so bad about it? thoes anti-fur people need to get over them selfs.

Max this is a great essay and is pretty well thought out. I agree with it. I'm coming from a similar place. I'm your quint essential furr next door. Which is why I feel comfortable in saying the following everybody. NOBODY'S PERFECT! No religion, government, fetish, or anything is perfect. Well just need to suck it up and get along. I to reinterate. I agree with ya max. We all need to just get along and quite bugging people over something thats not really that important.

Damn! and we're the same age! How come I can't write like that... duh I dun put my mind to it and how ironic we're up at the same time XD I probably could go off of this easily and get into a huge ass argument and stir things up hehehehe but I'll be good and just say hi
