Kobi : Part 1

By : The Sleeping Fox

The carnival light flared, as the air was filled with laughter and screams from the roller coaster. The smell of popcorn, cotton candy, and other fried treats, intermingled and permeated through out the warm night air. Many games were spread out among the fairgrounds, along with some rather unsafe looking carnival rides, but still people rode on them; I guess they just like the thrill of a near death experience.
At a small ball-toss game stood a young teenage boy, that’s me, Kobi. I had been waiting in line for about fifteen minutes so I could win this giant Fox stuffy; I loved anything that had to do with foxes. As the person in front of left with a seemingly disappointed look on their face, it was finally my turn. As I walked forward to play the game a group of older teens stepped in front of me and pushed me out of the way.

“Hey!” I cried, “Wait your turn.”

But they just replied with a, “Whatever Kid,” and they laughed, as I was helpless to stop them. I watched as they played and won. I couldn’t believe that someone so horrible could win, but when the game director pulled down the giant fox stuffy, I was heart broken. I angrily trudged away from the game and rejoined my friends who had been waiting for me.

“Let’s Go,” I said a little angry.
“What happened?” one of my friends said, a little concerned I was so upset
“Nothing,” I lied.
“Then why are you so…” but I cut them off.
“Nothing Happened!” I raised my voice, “It doesn’t matter.”

As the night went on I decided to put it out of my mind, and just start having fun, we went on a couple more rides, and ate some food that really wasn’t good for our health. One by one my friends left and headed back home, and finally it was time for me to go, so I headed towards the entrance of the fair grounds.
I was a couple feet away from the entrance, and I felt that familiar powerful pressure on my bladder.

“Can’t leave yet,” I thought to myself, “got to pee”

So I headed towards the Porte-potties, then I passed by a strange tent that I hadn’t noticed before. It had a sign that read “Japanese Palm Readings.” My curiosity over powered my urge to pee so I decided to enter the tent. When I pulled back the front flap a strong smell of incense hit me in the face. I coughed a bit, and that’s when I noticed and old Japanese gypsy woman.

“I’ve been expecting you,” she said in a mystical voice, “please sit down.”
“Okay…” I thought to myself as I sat down, “A little cliché but Okay.”

The moment my butt hit the chair she grabbed my hand, and started to stare into it like they were close friends.

“Ahhhh,” she exclaimed, “I see change in your near future, great change.”
“Ummm…yeah I don’t really believe in this kind of stuff,” I explained as I pulled my hand away, “and you’re crazy.”

Her eyes went wide.

“Get out!” she screamed, “and I hope the Kitsune come get you tonight, and I hope they give you what you deserve.”

I practically ran out of the tent. As I rounded the corner I headed for the side exits of the fair grounds. Everything was finally closing down so it was really dark. I looked around a little worried about what the Panda had told me.

“That lady was crazy,” I thought to myself as I laughed, “no one can really see into the future, and this curse is a bunch of rubbish…hah…Kitsune.”

As I continued on it felt like someone was following me, so I picked up my pace of walking I had finally reached the exit but it was locked. My eyes went wide with worry. I turned around to start heading towards the entrance of the park, and that’s when something hard hit me in the back of the head. I collapsed to the ground, and I felt someone rummaging through my pockets.
I couldn’t move, and someone was stealing everything I had. I didn’t know if it was the fear, the head trauma, or a mix of both, but I felt something warm growing slowly in the front of my pants, I had wet myself. The last thing I remember before passing out was, the person running off, and then someone approaching me.

“Kobi!” a woman’s voice called out in worry.
“M-mom?” I said but before I could get a good look at the person I blacked out.

Kobi: Part 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kobi: Part 2   Kobi: Part 2 Icon_minitimeFri Jun 15, 2007 1:30 am

and now for the rest of my story...

When I woke up I had a pounding headache, and everything was blurred, but at least I was dry. I felt the back of my head where I had been struck, and whimpered. I rolled over and felt something crinkle between my legs.

“That’s weird,” I said as I felt around the area, “Am I wearing a Diaper!

I sat straight up, a little confused and excited, and that’s when everything came into focus. I was in a strange house, in what seemed to be an entertainment room, but it was really big for some reason, and whoever owned this place had to have quite a bit of money, because they had all the latest appliances.
When I looked down at myself, I realised I was covered in a red-orange fur. I began to panic, and I started to feel around his body with my hands and knew there was fur all over my body. I even had a big bushy tail. I was a fox.

“What happened to me, wh-where am I?” I felt sick with worry.
When I said this, a tall attractive Anthro-Fox walked in. She was wearing beige form fitting pants, and a pink sweater, and she looked like she was in he late twenties. She looked like one of those Furries I was always looking up on the Internet. She smiled at me, and she seemed extremely pleased that I was awake.

“You’re finally awake,” she said cheerfully, “I thought my little Kobi would never wake up.”

“Where am I?” I said choking back some tears, “who are you, and why am I in a diaper!”
“Oh hunny, you must be confused from your fall,” she explained, you’re at home, I’m Maria, and you know that you not potty trained, your only four.”
“But I’m sixteen!”
“Oh baby,” she said empathetic tone as she wrapped him in a hug, “you were so unhappy with your life, and I gave you what you deserved.”

I knew she was right. I was unhappy with my life, my parents had died when I was two, and I was living at a halfway house, with friends that only wanted to get me in trouble. I did want to leave my old life, but I never expected my wishes to be granted like this. Beside no one would miss me. I looked up at the smiling fox, and for some reason, I knew I was safe.

“But, Mommy I don’t want to where diapers,” I told her wondering why I called her mommy, “I’m potty-trained”
“Oh, you are potty trained? She said in a humouring fashion, “and that’s why when I found you, you had peed your pants?
“But that was an accident,” I explained now knowing this couldn’t be a dream, “I don’t do that all the time.”

Maria thought for a while, and then she got a large grin on her face.

“All right,” she said, “if you can prove to me you don’t need diapers you can stop wearing them and I’ll treat you like you’re an adult, but if you do use them, your right back down at the toddler status, agreed.”

“Okay,” I agreed, and I was determined not to use them, although I did enjoy the feeling, I knew I was too old.
“All right, my big boy let’s get you dressed,” she explained as she took my hand and lead me down a hallway.

It was kind of awkward to walk in diapers, although it did feel good, it was still awkward. She opened a door to what looked like a nursery. I guess she was really hoped I would just give in to being a baby. She stood me in the middle of the room, and I looked around the room as she rummaged through a dresser. The room was a soft shade of blue, in the corner there was a changing table, under the windows was a crib, and there was a selection of toys spread neatly across the room.
She pulled out a legless short-sleeved sleeper with a button up bum, obviously for easy access while changing a diaper.

“This will look adorable on you,” she explained as she helped me into it.

She then led me over to a mirror to have a look. My jaw dropped.

“Oh my god!” I thought to my self, “I really am a four year old fox.”

I did look quite cute though in the sleeper, with the diapers bulging out. It all started to feel so natural to me; maybe I would use the diapers. I looked up at the older fox and smiled as she pinned a pacifier to me.

“Come on let’s get out of here Kobi,” She said enthusiastically.

I smiled and put the Pacifier in my mouth as I followed behind her. We walked back into the living room where I had woken up. She sat me down on the couch, turned on the big screen television to a children’s show and went into the kitchen. As I watched the show, I felt that same familiar pressure on my bladder, but this time it was followed by a pinch in the abdomen. I guess I shouldn’t have eaten all the carnival food.
I stood up, and then it hit me. I didn’t know where the bathroom was. Not really wanting to wear diapers, I began to panic. I looked around for the Bathroom but finally gave in because I couldn’t reach any of the doorknobs. After a while I just broke down and began to cry as I released the contents of my bladder and bowels, into my diaper. I didn’t even look up when Maria entered the room carrying a bottle and a coffee mug.

“Kobi, what’s wrong?” she said as she rushed over to me placing the bottle and mug on a table, she knew automatically by the smell, “I thought you said you were potty trained.”
“I…thought…I was,” I sniffled.
“Let’s get you changed,” she explained.

We were about to get up and leave when there was a loud click at the door, and a teenaged male fox walked into the house. I began to cry louder, as I wrapped my arms around Maria’s neck and buried my face in her shoulder, in a feeble attempt to hide from the new boy.

“Oh great,” I thought to my self, “now more people are going to see me in this diaper.”
“Is this who I think it is?” the boy said in a loud inquisitive manner trying to talk over the crying.
“Yes Julian,” she replied as she tried to calm me down, “This is your new little brother.”

Happy with the answer Julian left the room. When I finally calmed down a little, Maria took me into the nursery, and put me on the changing table.

“Now tell me Kobi, why were you so upset when Julian came home?” she asked me as she picked up the necessities for changing me.
“I didn’t want him to see me with a messy diaper Mommy,” I explained, “because I’m a big boy.”
“Awww, Kobi,” she said a she unbuttoned my sleeper and started to untape the diaper, “you are a big boy, but your not old enough to go with out diapers, you shouldn’t be ashamed you wear them.
“But,” I sniffled, “I don’t want to wear them.”
“I know you don’t,” she explained as she took the diaper from underneath me and threw it out, “but you know the deal we had. You’re going to be wearing diapers for a long time, until I feel you’re ready.”

She finished changing me, and she rebuttoned my sleeper. When she brought me back into the living room, when I noticed Julian was there, so I hid behind Maria.

“Come on Kobi, you two need to get better acquainted,” she explained as she picked me up and put me on Julian’s lap, and handed him a bottle.
A little nervous of the teenager whom I was now sitting on I was a little reluctant to do what he wanted me to. He finally got me to lie back in the cradling position, and he put the bottle to my lips. I opened my mouth to tell him I could do it on my own, but I was cut off when he stuck the nipple in my mouth.
Instinctively I began to suck on the nipple, and it expelled warm secretion of formula. As I swallow the liquid, it soothed me; it made me feel as if I were surrounded in warmth. As I drifted off to sleep I mumbled through the bottle’s nipple “I could get used to this.” No one understood what I said, so I drifted off to sleep.

* * *

When I awoke I was in the crib in the Nursery. I was glad it wasn’t a dream. I yawned and stretched out, then stood up. As I looked around I realised that there was something strange about the Nursery. It was twisted and strange. Scary music started to play and it sounded like there were people screaming. Just then the door blew open and I fell back. A tall shadowy figure started to approach the crib.

“It’s time to go back Kobi,” the shadowed figure told me in an inhuman voice.
“No!” I screamed.
“Fine, do it the hard way” the shadow then started to surround me in darkness.
“No, please no,” I whimpered, “I’m finally happy...MOMMY!

* * *

I then woke up screaming and crying, until Maria came in and picked me up, and started to comfort me.
“Mommy…” I said through the constant sobbing.
“Oh Kobi, did you have a bad dream?” She asked as I continued to cry.

I nodded as I calmed down and started to sniffle.

“Well don’t you worry, nothing can get you cause I’ll always be here.”

She checked my diaper, and brought me over to the changing table and set me down on it.

“That must have been a scary dream,” she explained, “because you wet yourself.”
“Your silly mommy,” I said as I gave her an almost sad giggle.

She changed me; she then picked me up and brought me into the living room, where Julian was watching a movie in his pyjamas. Maria set me down beside him and went into the kitchen, and I started to watch the movie. It was playing the same music as from my dream, and there were people running around this old mansion. It wasn’t until the monster popped up on the screen, that I screamed. I hid my face in the couch and Julian tried to console me.
Maria entered the room when she heard me scream.

“Julian, What are you watching?” she said to him in a stern voice.
“Ummm…”he gave her a nervous smile, “It came from the black gate.”
“Well that’s probably why Kobi had a bad dream,” she explained, “he heard the music and noises in his nursery while he was sleeping.”

Julian then turned off the television, picked me up, and sat me on his lap so that I was facing him.
“Is this true?” He asked me looking concerned.
“Yah,” I said nodding.
“ All right, no more horror movies when your around” he told me.
“Okay,” I said smiling weakly.
“It’s time for bed you two,” Maria cut in as she picked me up, “its way past both your bedtimes.”

As Julian got up and headed for his room, Maria took me back to the nursery, and put me in the crib. She tucked me in, and began to sing to me as I slowly drifted off into sleep.

When I awoke, I felt different. Like a great stress had been lifted off me. As I sat up in my crib the contents of my diaper squished against me.
“Gross,” I said as I scrunched up my face.
“You think so too?”

I looked up to see Julian standing over my crib. He smiled at me.

“Let’s get you changed,” he said as he opened the front of my crib, and picked me up, “let’s see what the damage is.”

He walked over to the changing table and set me down. He started to untape my diaper.

“Oh gross,” he exclaimed making a face as he noticed I had really messed myself.
I giggled.

For the rest of the change I got comments like, “Ew,” “Oh my god,” and “how does such a big smell come out of a little person. When he finished cleaning me up he didn’t put a diaper on me.

“Aren’t you going to put a diaper on me?” I asked him very confused.
“No,” Julian explained, “I’m going to give you a bath.”
“But I don’t want a bath,” I pouted.
“Well to bad.”

Julian then picked me up and put me over his head and flew me like an airplane to the bathroom, with me giggling the whole way. He then put me in the bathtub and the warm water enveloped my body. I noticed there were a couple of toys floating around in the bathtub. So I picked up a plastic pale, and started to splash around while Julian took a soft cloth and started to wash me.

“Arms up,” he told me as washed my sides.
“Where’s Mommy?” I asked him as he washed me.
“She went out to buy some things for us,” he explained, “okay you can put your arms down.”
“Okay,” I said with a devious smile on my face, and I brought my arms down with a splash, soaking Julian.
“You little stinker,” he grinned dumping a pale of water on my head.
“Yup!” I grinned widely.

After the bath Julian dried me off with a towel, put me in a diaper and dressed me in a t-shirt and short-alls. Later he brought into the kitchen and put me in high chair. He poured me a bowl of cereal, and sat down at the table with a bowl of his own. I looked down at my cereal and awkwardly tried to eat with my new body.

“Guess where we’re going today,” Julian told me.
“Where?” I asked with the spoon still half in my mouth and milk spilt down my chin.
“The park,” he smiled, waiting for a reaction. “Aren’t you excited?”
“Yay! The park,” I said trying to humour him.

After we finished eating, Julian cleaned up the half a bowl of cereal that was on the floor that had somehow missed my mouth while I was eating. Before he could ask me to do anything I ran out of the room and into the living room, to get ready for the park. I guess I was excited to go. A little while later Julian walked into the living room.

“I’m ready,” I smiled, as I was proud of myself.
“No you’re not,” he told me, “you have your shoes on the wrong feet.”
“But I do have them on the right…” but I cut myself off and looked at my feet, only to see that Julian was right.
“You want some help buddy?” he asked me which only made me a little more upset.
“I can’t do anything on my own,” I said as I crossed my arms and pouted, “Why do I always need someone to help me?”

Julian sat me down on the couch and pulled my shoes off, and put them on the right feet.

“You’re just a little too young to do stuff on your own,” he told me as he put his shoes on, “you’re still just a toddler.”

Still a little angry at my incompetence, we left the house but not before picking up what seemed to be a diaper bag, and a mesh sac with sand castle building tools in it.
The town they lived in was a little small but everything was in great shape, and it was a perfect day to go to the park. As we walked to the park, which wasn’t that far, I noticed that this world wasn’t just inhabited by foxes, there were so many others species.

As we reached the park, my eyes went wide and I forgot about my frustration. This place was huge, or at least it seemed that way, being turned into a four year old will have that effect on you. Finally Julian handed me the mesh sac, and I ran over to the sand box, today was going to be a great day…or at least I thought it would…

Kobi : Part 2

By : The Sleeping Fox

The park was amazing. It had two jungle gyms, both with full-length slides, a sand box, monkey bars, and a soccer field. There were kids everywhere, and all the trees and plants where in full bloom. I could tell today was going to be a great day. I scanned the park and found where I wanted to go first, finally Julian handed me the mesh sac, and I ran over to the sand box.
I started to build some sand castles, and I could tell that people were amazed because as they walked by they could help stare, and say comments like, “Wow,” “he’s good,” and “he’s so talented.” I continued building, not paying attention to the passer-bys, until one by one they stopped coming. It wasn’t until my castle came crashing down, by fault of foot, that I snapped back into reality.

“Hey! Watch it,” I exclaimed.
“Awww, is the little baby fox going to cry?” the voice said while another laughed.

I looked up to see who the perpetrators were. It was two bloodhounds, if I wasn’t mistaken they looked like twins, and they were at least four years older than I was. Well, at least in this body.

“Why did you wreck my castle?” I asked them.
“Why did you wreck my castle?” The hound mimicked.
“Because you’re in our sand box,” the other replied in a tough but childish manner, “and you better do what we tell you to, or you’re going to get hurt.”
“This is everyone’s sandbox,” I said in an assertively. “Besides you can’t hurt me, there are to many adults around.”

As I looked around I soon regretted saying that, there were no adults around, and Julian was to busy, talking up some teenaged vixen. One of the bloodhounds kicked at the ground, sending sand flying, into my face. Taken back a bit, I stood up and went to push the “kicker,” but the other hound, tripped me sending me to the ground, scraping my hands and knees.

“Look at the baby trying to stand up to us Marty,” one of the hounds laughed menacingly as he took my mesh bag, and the other contents that were spread across the sandbox, “look he’s still in diapers.”
“Yeah Hunter, looks like the baby’s going to cry,” the other hound joined in pointing, and laughing, “Why don’t you go and play with the other babies.”

I stood up, with my bottom lip quivering. Tears streamed down my face as I ran towards where Julian, and the Vixen where sitting. The two hounds, Marty and Hunter laughed as I retreated to safety.

“Julian!” I cried as ran to him, and buried my face in his thigh.
“What’s wrong?” he asked me, turning his attention away from the vixen, “tell me what happened, why are your hand and knees all scratched up?”

I lifted my head and pointed towards the sandbox where, the two bullies destroyed what was left of my latest accomplishment.

“The Deagle brothers,” he said not sounding very surprised, “their whole family are a bunch of racist ass-…umm, jerks.
“Don’t worry about them,” The vixen that was talking to Julian told me, as she knelt down beside me.
“Bu-but they have my toys,” I said remembering that they had taken them, “what if I never get them back?”
“Don’t worry,” the vixen assured me, “I’ll get them back.”

She stood up and walked very confidently to the sand box as Julian tended to my scrapes. The vixen was very attractive pure white artic fox, she was wearing a halter-top, and some low ride jeans, and she had the best pair of…shoes I had ever seen. To bad I was four years old.
I don’t know what she said to Marty and Hunter, but they handed over my toys right way. As she walked back she had a very smug smile on her face.

“Here you go Hun,” she smiled as she set the toys by the bench, “why don’t you go and play with some other kids for a while?”
“I don’t want to,” I said forcefully, “they’re all big and mean.”
“No they’re not,” Julian explained, as he picked me up and led me to a group of kids that seemed to be around my age, “these kid are nice, I baby-sit them all the time.”

The group of kids all watched as Julian walked me over to them. There were four kids in all, a male raccoon, a female calico cat, and two tigers, one was male the other female. Their faces lit up when they saw it was Julian bring me over.

“Julian!” they all said at the same time, as if they had been practicing it all morning.
“Hey guys,” he replied as I shyly hid behind him, “this is my brother, and he’s kind of new and needs some friends, do you mind if he plays with you?”
“Of course he can pway with us,” the male tiger said, as the others agreed with her.
“Thanks, I knew I could count on you,” he then sat me down with them, “this is Kobi,”
“I’m Macy,” the cat introduced herself.
“My names Marcus,” said the Raccoon.
“I’m Gabriel, and this is Evelyn,” the male tiger said, introducing his sister, “we’re twins.”

After the introductions, Julian wandered off to find his Vixen again, and left me all alone with the group of kids. As I looked around, I noticed a group of mothers glancing over at the group every so often, so I decided it would be safe to stay here.

“You got a booboo,” Macy gasped pointing at my knees, “What happened?”
“These two bullies pushed me down,” I said as I looked over at the sandbox.
“Those guys are jerks,” Marcus explained, “they made me eat bugs once.
“Yeah, and they pushed my brother and me into the mud,” A Evelyn added, as Gabriel nodded.
“They haven’t done anything to me since I scratched them,” Macy told me smiling.

We talked about how mean Marty and Hunter were for about fifteen more minutes. Which made me feel better about what happened. A little bit later Macy announced that she was bored so we decided to play hide and seek.
After announcing what we would be doing to the parents, we all ran in different directions, as Marcus attempted to count to ten. I found a nice place behind another tree, and watched as the others disappeared into their own hiding places.

“Hey kid,” a raspy voice said, sending chills down my spine.

I spun around, with my hair standing on end. In front of me stood one of the most ugly hyenas I had ever seen. He was wearing a long dirty trench coat, and flashed me a crooked rotting smile.

“I’ve got something for you,” he said holding back a nervous smile.
“…” I turned to run; I knew this wouldn’t end well.

He grabbed me from behind, and covered my mouth. I kicked and scratched at him, but it was no use in this body. He tried to run off, until one of the mothers yelled, “oh my god he has that child!” The man started to run. He turned the corner and a large non-Anthro German Shepard tackled him to the ground with his fangs in his arm.
He released me and I started running it wasn’t long until someone stopped me. I looked up and saw it was a regular Anthro-German Shepard in a navy blue police officer’s uniform. He picked me up and said something into his radio that I didn’t understand, but all of a sudden another police officer came out of nowhere, arresting the pervert.

“Let’s go find your family little guy,” he said as he put his hat on me.
“O-okay,” I replied.

The officer turned the corner, to head back to the park, and a panicking Julian darted by us. He screeched to a halt when he realised the Police man was holding me.

“Oh my god, thank you so much,” Julian said. I wasn’t sure if he was talking to the policeman or a higher power.
“No problem he replied,” the Policeman said, handing me over to Julian, “If it wasn’t for Sparks over there we probably wouldn’t have caught the guy.

After thanking the police officer profusely, Julian brought me back to the park, and explained to the Mothers that I was safe. They scolded him for a while, for not watching me. After that was done Julian gathered my toys and the diaper bag, and explained what had happened to me and why I couldn’t stay with my friends. Which was pointless because I knew what the guy was doing, but I still wanted to stay with my friend.

After talking to me about what happened, me, him, and surprisingly, the Vixen all walked home together.

* * *

When we got home, Julian put everything away, and washed my hands, for lunch. When he checked my diaper it was dry, which was kind of surprising after everything that happened today. He then brought me into the kitchen and set me in the highchair. The table had already been set, and on the plates was what seemed to be Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

“Thanks Val,” Julian said to the Vixen.
“Anytime, Julian,” She replied as they both sat down, “You two have had a pretty eventful day, it’s the least I could do.”

I took a bite of my sandwich, and noticed she had cut the crusts off. I looked over at the Vixen; I found it kind of weird that I hadn’t heard her name until now.

“Thank you Val,” I gave her a grateful smile, “it’s really good.”
“Anything for the cutest little fox cub I know,” she replied making me blush.

When we finished eating, Julian, and Val sent me out into the living room to play. They seemed a little eager for me to leave. So I climbed up on the couch and turned on the television, and started to watch a show called, “Jidou and friends” which stared a little cat. After a while, I got bored of watching children’s program, so I decided to see what Julian was doing.
I flopped off the couch and headed to the Kitchen, but when I opened the door I was surprised at what I saw. Val was straddling Julian while they made out, up against a wall. I cocked my head as I watched. The Julian slowly slid his hand up Val’s shirt.

“Can you do that?” I asked Curiously.

When I said this, they were startled back into reality, and they toppled over and fell onto the black and white tile floor.

* * *

After dinner we all curled up on the couch, and watched a movie. Obviously it was a kid’s movie. It was entitled “The Fox Prince.” About half way through the movie the front door opened. Maria was home. She came in lugging about five plastic bags in each hand all filled with, boxes of all shapes and sizes.

“Mommy!” I said as I hopped off the couch and ran over to her and wrapped my arms around her legs.
“Hello to you to,” She replied as set down the bags and hugged me, “how is my little Kobi?”
“Good,” I said as I tried to peek in one of the bag.
“No Peeking,” she said sternly, slapping my hand, “You know it’s your Birthday in three days, you don’t want to spoil the surprise.”
“Okay Mommy,” I agreed, “Wait…it’s my birth day in three days!

After she took off her coat and shoes, she picked me up, and pointed out on the calendar by the door what date it was. She was right. It was my Birthday in three days, but how could she possibly know the exact date. I guess she must have been watching me for a while.
After she hid the many boxes, she joined us on the couch to finish the movie.

* * *

I must have dozed off, because I woke up in my crib around the middle of the night. I stood up and looked around the room. The clock on the wall read ten o’clock. I had never been awake this late before in this world.
Once again my curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to unlock the cribs sliding mechanism. Once I finally opened it and slid it down, I climbed out. I then walked over to the door.

“It looks like Mommy left it open,” I thought to my self.

As I left the room I looked around in the hallway, and saw that there was a light on in the kitchen. So I padded over in the direction of the light. I peeked my head in the doorway, and noticed that Julian and Maria were talking.

“How could you let that happen Julian,” she said in a worried voice.
“I’m sorry mom,” he replied, “I took my eyes off of him for a couple minutes.”
“You know we already lost him once,” she raised her voice.
“What do you mean you’ve lost me once?” I said as I walked into sight.

The room went silent. I could tell by the expression on their faces that they were conflicted on telling me something. Maria motioned for me to sit on her lap, so I ran up to her, and she lifted me up onto her. I noticed pictures on the table of an older male fox and a cub that looked just like me only really young.

“Who’s that Mommy?” I said pointing to the picture.
“That’s your daddy,” she told me choking back some tears, “ and he loved you and Julian so much.”

She then looked at me in the eyes, and said she would explain the earlier comments. She explained that when I was young cub, that her, daddy, Julian, and me, were in a terrible car crash, and that the force from the impact sent daddy to heaven, and me to the other world.
She then went on to tell me that, the reason I’m still a cub, was that, five years in the human world equal one year here. So if I spent sixteen years in the other world, and I came back here, I would have only aged three years. It was a little hard to understand, but it did explain why I adapted to life here so quickly.

“I love you Mommy,” I said as I rested my head on her chest and listened to her heartbeat.
“I love you to baby,” she said as she started humming a tune that quickly put me to sleep, “Sleep well, my little Kobi.”

As I slept it all came back to me in a dream. I was strapped into my car seat, it was raining, and it was nighttime. Beside me was a thirteen-year-old Julian playing with his mini-game station, Mommy was in the passenger’s seat, and Daddy was driving. I remember hearing the lightning boom. I started to cry, and right away Mommy tried to sooth me.
Julian continued to play his game, and I remember daddy looking over at Mommy and saying, “please make him stop crying, it’s hard to concentrate.” Then that’s when it happened. There was that bright light, and I jerked forward, and when I woke up, everything was gone…

I startled out of my sleep and started to shake. I was still in Maria’s arms, so I looked up at her for reassurance.

“Was it my fault Mommy?” I said with a whimper, “did Daddy die because of me?”
